Default dry heat makes me irritable

Do any of you feel irritated or angry when it's really hot. It's summer here now in Australia and when it is a really hot day and it's dry I feel slightly depressed, unmotivated and irritable and sometimes really angry. I just can't cope with it.

Whereas if it's raining and hot and hence humid, I quite enjoy it and my mood is really good.

No babe... I love it. And I don't even have air conditioning. LOL But I'm originally Canadian so I embrace the hot here. I love a good hot aussie breeze. I'd never even felt a hot wind before in my life until I came here. Now rain on the other hand... booooo and snow, don't even get me started. Ick! I don't really appreciate the heat when trying to sleep though.

    I'm quite the opposite.

I love the sun and the heat - but high humidity turns me into a real misery...I get headaches, feel really 'tetchy' and generally unhappy and lethargic.

Whereas with dry heat and breezes, I'm relaxed and as 'Happy as Larry'.....(good old 'Aussie' phrase!)

you don't like dry heat? have you experienced humidity without rain? over here in the summer it gets so humid and sticky you can't move without sweating, you can't stand still without sweating. the air feels so heavy you can see it. it gets hard to breathe. i really can't imagine you would prefer this to being dry. why would you want to be extra sweaty and not be able to dry off? i don't think its cute but maybe its an aussie thing :-/

I've been to kuala lumpur where it is 90% humidity. Believe me I prefer it that way. It's not an aussie thing, most people hate humidity.

Dry weather sets off my allergies (hayfever) and I just hate it. Don't know if you have been to Australia but our sun gives off the most strong, burning heat of anywhere in the world. It's awful. You can actually feel it burning you the minute you step outside in summer.

I really hate dry weather. I love tropical weather but I especially love heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Oh I LOVE the heat, it's never too hot for me! Such a shame that I live in a country where it rains ALL the time.

sorry for being a little harsh with the humidity thing, lol. unfortunately i have not been to australia yet but i hope to plan an extended trip out there in the coming two years. seems like a very lovely country with some incredible beauties like you and my dreamlover jessie

i can totally see how a dry, dessert-like heat would be a bitch. feeling like everything's being zapped with a giant hair dryer probably gets pretty old real quick. i will try to appreciate my humidity here when it actually gets warm again, although tonight we're expecting a foot of snow

it doesn't snow here except high in the mountains. some snow right now would be fun!! i don't really like any extremes - extreme heat, extreme cold. Prefer something more comfortable.
The only extreme I like is storms!! We don't get any crazy weather like tornados or hurricanes thankfully - have seen those on tv and they look scary!! But I love torrential rain, thunder and lightening. Makes me feel so alive for some reason. Love water.

I hate extremes as well...too much heat kills me, too cold and I won't step outside. If it could stay in the 70's year-round I would be a happy camper!

But heat is what makes me irritable, whether or not it is humid. Anything over about 85 F and I turn into a bitch. I don't get irritable with the cold, just hibernate inside.

I've been all over and the most comfortable places I've been are Portugal, Greece and Cuba. Give or take about 7 or 8 degrees, they're all around the same Longitude and the temperatures are similar too - betwen 70°F - 100°F average.

It wipes me out rather than makes me irritable. I find humid heat does this to an even greater degree. I'm grateful not to be a Queenslander for that reason, though Melbourne's desert-hot summers are still pretty cold comfort. Like you, I prefer cooler weather. 18C is about right for me. I'm a born and bred Melburnian and a summer baby to boot, so I suppose my intolerance for the heat is a bit odd.

I rarely burn, though, luckily. I'm pretty olive-skinned.

At least we haven't had many 40C plus days this year (cf summer 2008-2009, gah), though I still find the 30 plus ones pretty hard going.

I can remember workin out one day at the gym and my b/f met me there on hi lunch break (he works on base, which is where I go to the gym) and I WENT OFF on him and had the WORST attitude ever bcuz of this Florida HUMID heat, plus I was sweaty from the gym, plus my truck had no AC and we were sitting in the parking lot, plus I had on a lavender shirt that was getting darker and darker by the minute becuz of my sweat soaking it, (i always think thats so unnatractive and I didnt want my bf to see me like that) LOL
Anyways....I get very irritated in humid heat. Dry heat, not so much. I lived in Ohio, and I can handle that heat. Here you just choke and wanna punch somebody.

I'm the same way! I love that humid weather, hot or cold. Dry air is annoying, it messes with my nasal passages and my hair and skin..

You had me in hysterics with this! Yes - I 'work' in them - but work is Fetish Heels modelling - not dancing! OMG you can't dance in them....your feet are almost vertical and the heels are way too thin and bendy.

They're ideal for hot weather though!!

Any kind of heat makes me irritable and sick. I love winter and freezing temps. My husband refers to me as his own nuclear heat source and he really doesn't need the blankets lol.

I love heat, but I hate humidity when it's hot. I love me some dry heat.

Where I live it rains constantly. I can handle it ok, but it gets depressing sometimes, being gray and cloudy for soooo long.

Dang, you should move to Florida. From May-October, it's a sauna. Spend any more than 5 minutes outside, day or night, and you develop a light sheen of sweat on your whole body. I'll take dry heat ANY day over the steam bath in which I live for half the year.

Ok this is going to sound like REAAAAALY obvious... but here goes.

I hate dry heat too. What really helps my mood is drinking shit-loads of water. Ice water especially. Drink it till you feel full, then drink some more. When I get cranky I know I'm starting to get dehydrated.

Like I said: obvious, but easy to forget.
