It's a narcotic pain-killer, not an anti-depressant, you moron. I just had five teeth pulled and a bone-graft to my jaw so I have to take it right now. The last time it was prescribed to me, I had been hit in the face with a truck and my jaw was wired shut. Even still, taking more than one made me sleep about two days straight.

When it's gone, it's gone. Enjoy the detox, you pill-popping idiot.

Your anxiety may simply be related to dwelling on various scary thoughts. If so, google up some books or articles on the subject.

I've found relief from depression/ fatigue with provigil and adrafinil. It won't make you "high" and you can go about your everyday tasks like driving and using a food processor. I know they aren't traditional anti-depressants, but have been known to have a mood-lifting effect.

However, if you have an anxiety issue, these drugs are stimulants and may make things worse. Something like vallium or xanax would be better for anxiety.

I've tried every drug known to man except 'K', I think. OK never did crack either but I have smoked joints laced with a little blow, which was plenty close enough for me.

So I'm not going to judge the OP harshly even if I swore off everything but weed, a little booze, and maybe some mushrooms every two years or so.

But for god's sake, man--that oxy shit is synthetic morphine. As dangerous as any of the opiates. I tried it twice and liked it a lot. Which helped make it easy not to take it again, lol! I've known people who got hooked on the shit and it was bad.

It felt just like the morphine you get in the hospital. Floating on a happy little cloud. But that's no way to go through life...

I would try xanax if you just need something to take the edge off...

Go to the Dr and get thee some Ativan. Tiny dose, no "hangover", non habit forming (when taken properly!), good stuff. I would not mess with something that is 2 MC away from heroin, or so says my organic chem class.

Plus I am not going to lie. I LOVE OPIATES. That's why I don't take 'em. Tooooooo much temptation. BTDT.

if you're struggling with severe anxiety i think it'd be better to see a psychiatrist...but even benzos (xanax, valium, klonopin, etc) aren't really meant for long term use either. i recommend trying therapy and the alike first though and consider medication last. if you don't need to take medication, be thankful...but taking oxycodone really is self-medicating and as others mentioned pretty hardcore.

imo weed really does help my anxiety. i know for some it doesn't. i think weed works better than the benzos (and i've tried pretty much all of them...) it's not 'habit-forming' like benzos and it's natural

I don't agree with pot ( smell makes me puke ) but the rest of what you said is spot on.

Weed is definitely habit forming, I should know.

But taken in moderation it is better than the rest of all those myriad drugs out there. I'll pass on the blunts, but I love a little weed before a workout, when doing detail work on drawings, and best of all after a rough night at work. But it doesn't work as well for other people. Choose your poison...

Right on. Mine is whiskey. Preferably legal ( 18+ yrs). That and cigarettes are the extent of it for me.

I deviated tonight though- tonight it was champagne and patron. Drama client, got called in. Fail.

yup weed is mine, i use it to unwind (hence lessens my anxiety), i'm still productive while smoking. i write papers for school while smoking when i need to concentrate. so i'm not like some stoners (the ones who say i'm gonna quit and go to school, or accomplish such and such goal or whatever) but i also use it sometimes more in moderation and still function well. and i'm not against experimenting, but i guess i feel for me it's more of an experience...i dont want to do it when i'm experiencing anxiety. i definitely have an addictive personality, but weed keeps it at a bay and then i'll try other stuff every so often, and occasionally drink when i'm with my friends that are drinkers. sorry if this went way off topic but i happen to be high and so i felt like being the weed advocate.

Yeah that's a reeeally addictive drug.. Even those who get prescribed the drug can easily get addicted to it.
Many of us struggle with anxiety and depression. It's SO EASY to begin to self medicate, but if it starts getting out of hand, you realize that therapy and maybe even medication is better than buying street drugs and possibly getting hooked on things... I'm just saying And from experience. So no judgement here. Everyone is different and people can handle things better than others. Hopefully you keep it under control.

Go lift some heavy weights, work a heavy bag for an hour, then get a haircut and a new shirt and you'll feel like a million bucks after. Put the work in to feeling good instead of eating inappropriate pills.

i'm a propenent for the legalization of pot. helped me overcome depression, social anxiety, insomnia, AND anorexia. 10+ years of therapy and countless "legal" drugs didn't help one bit. i don't think it's chemically addictive but it can be mentally addictive. currently i smoke up about once a month, or when my sleep cycle gets screwed up. once a month on average though.

Thanks for your contribution to this thread. I'm well aware of what it is and what it does. I had a headache and took it for that, and it soothed out the anxiety for a few hours. Why don't you get off your goddamned high horse, jackass.

PLEASE be careful. I ended up wicked addicted to these and almost ended up in rehab. They are SUPER easy to get addicted to and its not easy to kick. The physical withdrawal symptoms are painful and scary.

Im not preaching to you im just speaking from experience. I am not one to get addicted to something easy so it floored me when I realized I was addicted.

Yeah, you keep telling yourself whatever you need to. However you're getting it, it's hardly intended for the occasional headache so no matter what, you're obviously abusing the substance. Oh, wait, you know those "headaches" you're having? They're probably coming from the dehydration and other side effects caused by taking too much of an opiate. Have fun!

So you know what it is, what it does, what the risks are, still found the need to post an entire thread about recreationally taking an incredibly addictive drug, but you don't want people to reply unless they support you in your reckless activities?

If you don't want to hear from the internet, don't talk to it. I'm so sorry people on this board care enough about the health of strangers to tell them they're dumb and should knock off the oxy.

Was the point of this thread to get a high five or what? Woo! You're potentially fucking up your life! Way to go, man.

So true. The physical effects of this drug are brutal. You need to be chugging water the whole time you take them. They really cause some serious long term damage.

yeah i dont think oxycodone for a headache is even a good idea...i've suffered from horrible migraines and never had an md prescribe me oxycodone for it. i have to assume you know something about oxycodone and thus know that pretty become very addicted, very quickly.

You shouldn't be taking oxycodone for headaches, barring they are debilitating migraines or some jazz. Even then- not so much, and they're usually rather ineffective.

I get debilitating migraines and oxycodone would make them worse(pre addiction) because they dehydrate you so bad.

Doesn't surprise me. Also, opiates don't so much take the pain AWAY as they make you sort of not care anymore. At least that's how it is for me.
