Default The expensive thing you regret buying?

Do have an expensive thing you bought that you now regret? I threw like $2K towards my mother's b-day party and she did nothing but complain the whole time. (I knew she would, she complains about everything)

I know a few people that regretted buying homes at the peak of the real estate bubble.

I just thought I would create this thread to bring some perspective to our wants and how fulfilling those wants sometimes leaves us (and wallets) feeling empty.

A Louis Vuitton vernis Bedford pomme de amor. It was over $1300, and it's been sitting in a box for almost 2 years.

getting my hair done. i cant complain since it is really hard for me to use a lot of hair dyes since i have scalp issues (my stylist used a special one on me). now i've found one i can use (yay!) so i feel some guilt at getting my hair done, since it costs so much more. but it's better than having my scalp break out, that's for sure.

I bought a pair of Manolo Blahnik mules - just once.

They were a limited edition, plain white mule, 5.5" stiletto. They had a clear PVC thong and a single clear assymetric strap - a little like a 'dancer's' heel. It was an exquisite design idea that made you look as if you only had a stiletto heel on your foot - not a whole shoe.

As a limited edition design they cost me $860.00....

Within 4 weeks the PVC strap had split...!!

A broken, useless shoe - is a broken useless shoe - whether it costs $86.00 or $860.00...!!

My wacom. I barely use it, because of how awkward and shitty my current desk is. When I get a new desk it'll be right up here with me though.

When I was young and stupid I bought a brand new status car....and after a year or so, I couldn't keep up w/ the payments. Because of that, the care ended up costing me so much more than it was worth.

Since then, I have bought my cars w/ cash.

I am going to say my house. I actually did not over pay, but there is a lot of upkeep. What bothers me most is that I am not there to enjoy it. I work and stay with my boyfriend in a different city. I spend one week a month there and rent out a room(with private bath) so that some one is there. I just wish I had waited and bought something that was less expensive to maintain.

Did you call or email Manolo? One of the reasons why the shoes cost so much is that they have a "natural lifetime guarantee", so if your shoe breaks, or the straps split during normal wear, they'll fix it or replace it for free.

It won't work if say, your dog chewed the heel off, but they've fixed shoes for me with broken heels and cracked leather.

Also my car. I upgraded from a VW Polo to a Golf because I was driving a lot. 2 months later moved to the inner city and now use it once in a blue moon. The repayments are $70/week more than the polo.... damn!

Christian Louboutin shoes on Ebay... I got them for a great deal! Only to find out that his sizing runs small and I needed a bigger size. Can't wear them, can't sell them for what I paid. Darnit.

Anyone need a pair of these: http://www.netaporter.com/product/33771

Size 38, which is actually a size 7 US. (Usually a 38 us a US 8, but these run small. I don't think it would even fit a 7.5.) They are amazing shoes, retailed for $1200 and I paid $420. Happy to sell them for cost - PM me.

MY house. I was paying $650, all bills included, in this cute little shack in my favorite neighborhood in town. Now, I have a mortgage and constantly increasing HOA and utility bills. I'm paying more than double what I paid before, and that doesn't even count maintenance. And I hate this neighborhood, its ghetto and not safe to walk around at night. Nothing good is walking distance. I used to be able to jog to the lake, ride my bike to work, tan salon, awesome coffee shops. Now, none of that is near.

My car was purchased for me. But its a BMW, and the maintenance on it is ridiculous. I wish I had asked for something american, or maybe japanese, much cheaper to maintain and repair.

Sure, I regret some clothes and shoes that ended up not looking right, breaking, uncomfortable, etc..but those cost nothing compared to the two big money pits above.

I should have sold the townhome last year, would have gotten a great deal. Now, the city has overbuilt, and my town is finally feeling the recession. I doubt I could make any money on it after fees, if I could sell it at all. My mom wanted me to buy this place AND to wait to sell it. Why do I listen to her, just because she's had good fortune with real estate???

Personal trainer I didn't use. If i I had used him it might have been worth it, I pairs it upfront. 2 grand (((.

lending money to boyfriend, buying pot

Bring late on payments, buying a one way ticket and having to deal with the price of the second ticket when I needed to get home. Parking tickets.

Being prepared saves you lots of money

wasting time is a bigger one

I bought them on Ebay - unworn in the box. If they had been Brand New from Manolo - they would have cost me nearly $1,600.00.
