anyone else watching? Thoughts, comments?
I saw Shaun White from the snowboarding x-games looking mighty pleased.
Also, the two singers are doing a good job, but isn't the girl in the blue dress freezing?

Nelly Furtado? It's warm in the stadium....it's got a roof on it.

WHAT! Crap. I missed it cause I was sleeping. Nelly Furtado was there? I love her.

was that who it was? She had some nice curves...
I thought the cultural part of the ceremony was awesome. I loved the floor effects and how they incorporated the audiece.

i liked the light-bear-inflatable-fireworks thing.
i love the olympics, and since my boyfriend is canadian, we've been having a blast going to the bars in our canada-flag gear and cheering very loudly when the canadian athletes do well.
though i can't wait for the olympics to be over so i can buy one of these SUPER CUTE stuffed mascots on the cheap.i bought a tiny one when we were in Van last june, but i rly want one of the big ones to cuddle with when my boo isn't home

I love watching the global community coming together for the love of their sport. It makes me smile watching the different athletes and hearing their stories. However, I did not enjoy watching the crash of the young Georgan luger, I wasn't expecting to see any footage of it whatsoever out of respect for the dead. It was in bad taste that NBC actually aired it at all, especially during prime time when the whole world is watching.

I saw Shaun in person while practicing in mammoth, Ca. He sprayed me w. a back 580 coming down the pipe. ( I was at he edge of the pipe 30 ft from the base). I also saw and met Hannah Teeter, Kelly Clark and Elena (can't remember her last name).
I tried to get a photo of that spray but all I got was white snow
I love that little short guy from the USA who didn't place. Great attitude.

I was just on another snowboard excursion last Thurs-Sun. My man, his friend and I made it to the condo before my gf's showed up. It was kinda cool, it was snowing, there was a fire and the women's half pipe was being aired. Then the 3 of us had an amazing dinner at the ChartHOuse. (my man does business w/ them so everything was free). It fueled me for the next morning. We had a 10 min walk to the lift and I was out there w/ the guys for the first run at 8:30 AM.
Then later I went to pick up the lazy chicks (my friends) who didn't get first lift until 11:30 Am!

omg I didn't even know the guy died until yesterday! That is sooo sad!
I saw some speed skaters-their legs look like freakin' tree trunks, just MASSIVE.

^^^ apparently not ! The International Olympic Committee has already announced an investigation into the 'victory party' of the Canadian Women's Hockey Team.
(snip)""I don't think it's a good promotion of sport values," he said. "If they celebrate in the changing room, that's one thing, but not in public. We will investigate what happened."
Poulin, who scored both goals, doesn't turn 19 — legal drinking age in British Columbia — until next month. The drinking age in Alberta, where the Canadian team trains, is 18. Photos showed Poulin on the ice with a beer in her hand."(snip)
and Rush Limbaugh jumped onto this issue ...
"RUSH: Did you see the women's Canadian hockey team celebrating after their victory? Did you see it? They had champagne and cigars! The babes were smoking cigars. They won and they came back out on the ice and the fans were going nuts out there. They're pouring beer and champagne into each other's mouths.
"Yeah!" is exactly right, Snerdley. Then they start puffing on the stogies. Ho-ho-ho, yeah! And I'm thinking, "Where are the NAGs now? Where are the NAGs now?" Because those are some real women, and I'll betcha when you get their hockey uniforms off of them these are real women. I betcha they are. "

Yeah, they have to say they'll investigate it, but they'll do nothing. Nor should they imo. It's just people being real. Not that this doesn't happen in other countries, but this is Canada, and it's just how we are. Like the story says, Jon Montgomery wins the gold in skeleton, and walks victoriously through the main drag in the village...gets handed a jug of beer, chugs some to the cheers of the bystanders, then auctions the jug off in his CTV interview. Just a happy guy enjoying the moment with his proud countrymen. All Good.
Not sure about why they aired it either, but to tell you the truth in a weird way I was happy for the athlete. Out of all the ways to leave this planet, I would say to die suddenly doing something you love and have devoted your life to perfecting has to be one of the more decent ways to go.

^^ Me too!!! lol
I know one of the girls on the Canadian Womens Team and fuckin rights they have every right to celebrate!!!! If it was American girls no one would say anything
Canada knows how to celebrate! Our Canadian Womens Hockey Team seriously fuckin rocks! They've been one of the best in the world for years.
Now pray to god that the mens team kicks ass tonightCanada is kicking ass this year in everything. We have more gold medals then any other country and we're in third place in medal standing.
I love fairly close to all the going ons and my fiance and I were supposed to go to Van to watch all the hockey but i've been having problems with my pregnancy so we couldn't go![]()

Closing ceremony starting now. They are making fun of the olympic flame malfunction on the first day. Katrina Lemay-Doan is getting her chance to light the cauldron, which she was denied in the opening ceremony. Nice touch.

^I found it very anti-climatic..except for Neil Young. Hells ya! I love him.

The closing ceremony was horrible. The best was the very beginning with them poking fun at the malfunction of the opening ceremonies. Also the end part with the giant hockey players and kid dressed as a hockey puck. That whole 'skit' and of course Nickleback playing and Hedley cuz well... I love them both lol.

Yay for Amy Miller! Winning GB's ONLY medal. At least it was a gold. Made my Grandmum happy.
