    Question favorite workout?

What is your favorite workout to do?

My favorite is 30 minutes of cardio (intervals or steady) followed by a leg workout

You do this by going down in number; 20, 18, 15, 12, 10, 5, 1 for EACH exercise
    SET ONE
    Jump squats
    lunges
    reverse crunches
    SET TWO
    Plie squats
    Hamstring curls on a ball
    Crunches on the ball
    SET THREE
    deadlifts
    side lunges
ab twists with a heavy weight

I love it because I am so dead after it.

Handstand pushups, 5 sets. This is where you go from a headstand to a handstand, lifting your body weight every time. They are extremely difficult, most guys can't do it at all.

Chinups, 2 sets. A bit light but I injured my elbow a while back using too much weight on a pulldown machine. No more machines, only my body weight, from now on. it's getting better now so I will up it to 4 sets soon.

    Dips, 3 sets.

That's the warmup. Now comes the fun part. Since I have somewhat thin bones for a guy my height, I have to watch the shock effect of hitting a heavy bag too hard, too often. So I made a device using three stretchy things combined (normally people use one) for shadow boxing, so that it is a lot harder to throw a punch, and hit a stand up bag 4 three minute rounds with 30 seconds in between.

Then the really fun part. During 30 second break I put on weighted gloves, which also makes you a lot faster and more powerful. 4 more three minute rounds with 30 seconds in between.

My goal is to go 12 three minute rounds with 30 seconds breaks. A pro fight is 12 rounds with one minute breaks. I will never go in the ring, but it feels very good at the end of my workout!

Workout routine depends on whether I am training for size, or for a fight. Either way they would be too involved to post, but my mass building routines are still based on compounds (weighted pull ups, dips, militaries, deadlifts, etc.) before doing isolation exercises, and for fights that's up to our trainers but obviously very heavy on cardio and anaerobic conditioning, with lots of situation-specific sparring and drilling with high intensity non-specific sparring closer to the date of the fight.

^^ must be an australia thing, because I've never heard of it. But, it sounds a lot like some programs the 24Fitness has here. Must be challenging!

Les Mills started in New Zealand, its in Australia and Canada too I know for sure. Actually just looked it up and its in the US too. Its just set group fitness programs that they change every 10 weeks, so the instructors don't have to freestyle and it is more consistent. Any gym could use it. They just have to become licensed and train their instructors. Their programs are far superior to any freestyle class especially for the average gym goer.

Oh and Biometric...lol thats a typo or brain fuzz... I meant Plyometric - basically the track has a ton of quick lunges in it.

Plyometrics is a type of exercise training designed to produce fast, powerful movements, and improve the functions of the nervous system, generally for the purpose of improving performance in sports. Plyometric movements, in which a muscle is loaded and then contracted in rapid sequence, use the strength, elasticity and innervation of muscle and surrounding tissues to jump higher, run faster, throw farther, or hit harder, depending on the desired training goal. Plyometrics is used to increase the speed or force of muscular contractions, providing explosiveness for a variety of sport-specific activities.

i haven't worked out in awhile, but my typical workout would be a one mile warm-up, stretch (then depending on the day), sets of sit-ups and push-ups, high knees, butt kicks, etc. then do around a time mile run, stretch. i run at a track first and then go do run the city or go to the park and do hill sprints, if i run less than 6 miles.

or if i'm trying to kick my ass in shape i take ballet and tap...seriously.

now i wanna go work out tomorrow. too bad i just got tattooed and need to avoid excessive sweating

yes i just do yoga, all types except bikram because i'm very flexible as it is and get very sweaty and uncomfortable. i think yoga covers everything you could possibly need, mind and body. unless you really need to drop lbs, then i would just do some extra cardio and let the yoga tone you up.

My favorite workout has always been, and will always be, a long run. Coming in second are track workouts. I need to be with a coach and other people for those as it is so easy to lose motivation at the track. I love the way my arms feel after a great swim workout as well. I would have to say that ocean swimming is the best workout for me and a lot more fun than doing hard sets in the pool.

Les Mills is all over the US and Canada, it is a great workout. I like the BodyStep as well. I run so much these days that classes will make my knees hurt.
