NICE! Thank you very much! This will come in handy when I'm following all those MAC-heavy youtube makeup tutorials! I wonder who comes up with all these massive lists? Also - do you they they all apply the same? Obv. there must be some difference in quality....

Yes, there most definitely is a difference in quality. But as long as you have a good eyeshadow base, you'll get the max pigmentation out of whatever eyeshadow it is possible. I'm a makeup artist and I've worked for MAC, but I still use and love L'Oreal products. Milani has the richest pigmented eyeshadows you can buy at a drugstore! Also a good, more economical choice.

^^^I LOVE Milani stuff! Their shadows are wonderfully pigmented, the eyeliner goes on silky smooth and the lipgloss rocks! I need to check if they are cruelty free though (why I wont buy Loreal))..hopefully they are because I love them and they are cheap!

I love Chanel cosmetics. But at $30 a pop for ONE eyeshadow, I feel like a sucker for having ever bought any period. Bah.

seriously you can use any makeup and have it look good as long as you use the right technique. I LOVE splurging on designer makeup but when rent's due and I have to use wet n' wild lip liner, no one notices the difference!

I have a problem with buying made in china cosmetics, but I'll read through your list and see about which companies are made in the US, England, or Canada.

The most pigment I ever found in a cheapie was NYX eyeshadows:

I did not have good luck with Milani at all I actually didn't find it very pigmented at all.

I think I got the lower right hand corner one and I had to dig and dig to put that stuff on and it was crap in terms of pigmentation. Perhaps it was just that one color?

I do like Rimmel colors though-- I'm a huge fan of their makeup primer even though I know others dislike Rimmel.
It's about $7 and has a peachy color to it.

One company that I want to try a lot that I've seen on Youtube and makes their stuff in the US (don't quote me but I'm pretty sure)
    is coastalscents.com

I've followed their newsletter for ages and always keep meaning to order some, but haven't since I'm not a big online shopper.
But their palettes have WONDERFUL reviews, and there's a shit ton of different types of palettes.

MAC's stuff is outrageously pricey here in the UK, so those alternatives are a real godsend. We can get most of them here too, which is real cool. Many thanks for posting this.

I can't believe the list says that MAC and Wet-n-Wild are interchangeable....that's a huge insult to MAC, Wet-n-Wild stuff is ridiculously cheap. No pigment, hurts going on, and I've known numerous people who got infections from their pencil eyeliners. I guess it's good for a young teenager just learning about makeup, but seriously...on par with MAC?

Wet-n-wild clear lip gloss is just like Lip Glass by Mac. I always buy it when I see it because so often it's sold out. I don't care for the other wet-n-wild lip gloss color's consistency, but then I like my lip gloss super goopy hi-shine - the kind you can't wear if your hair is down and it's windy.

Sephora brand lipglosses are AMAZING quality at good prices. I swear by "Blushing" and "Hot Coral".

Living in the US, I actually don't consider MAC cosmetics to be all that pricey. If you have the palettes that you buy from the MAC stores, the pans of eyeshadow and blush that you put in them are cheaper than buying the product by itself. For instance a pan of eyeshadow to put in the palette is $11 and a blush is $16. Not too bad compared to spending $8 on a l'oreal eyeshadow and $10 on a blush at CVS. These prices become even lower if you get the 30% professional discount, which I believe you can get if you show them a business license. To me spending the extra few dollars is worth it because it's quality products that i'll actually use all of, rather than throwing away like I do with most of the drugstore makeup I buy. And practically every MAC container is recyclable - collect 6 empty containers and you can trade them in for a free lipstick or lipglass

I've also had good experiences with Sephora brand glosses. I've been thinking about trying their eyeshadow palettes, but I'm hesitant...I often find that the less expensive eyeshadow sets have next to no pigment. This goes even for higher-level brands that put out large eyeshadow palettes for "discount" around the holidays...I got a Smashbox one once and the dark colors applied like a daytime pastel.

Dammit, that sucks. The best eyeshadow palettes I've found were Dior. And for single eyeshadows, Urban Decay is awesome. It's loaded with pigment, to the point I can't really wear any of it during the day. It's all specifically work makeup for me.

I used to really like Pop Beauty, but that's another brand that doesn't really have much pigment in it. It's unfortunate. But with this stuff, you really do get what you pay for.

I agree. Wet n' Wild is one of the better drugstore brands I have tried (though I don't buy drugstore often), but it doesn't even touch Mac. It's pretty much a hit or miss. I own a couple nice Wet n' Wild colors, but for the most part, the color in the pan is completely different on the eyelid, and it seriously lacks in the pigmitation department. Also, it doesn't like to stay on your eyelid, so you have to apply your foundation after your eyeshadow. I don't understand the Coastal Scents hype either ... it's cheap and application is horrible. I hate it.

I prefer to only use high-end makeup and I tend to stay away from drugstore makeup, especially eyeshadow and eyeliner. My favorite brands are MAC, Urban Decay, Nars, and Stilla.
