I got sick again Sunday evening towards the end of my shift. I toughed it out to the end of the night since it was only a tickle in my throat, and the next day I went to the doctor. Bacterial test came back negative, doctor told me it's another viral bug, gave me some prescription-grade Tylenol Cold, sent me on my way.
BTW, my symptoms include: NO fever, hacking cough to the point of vomiting, swollen and very sore throat, tons of phlegm, sinus buildup, body aches/chills/sweats, abdominal pain, and extreme fatigue.
Well the uber Tylenol Cold helped that evening and the next morning. I had tickets for a concert Tuesday evening so I took one pill with me for the road, and rocked out. 1/3 of the way home I had to ask my friend to drive the rest of the way because I just CRASHED.
Wednesday my dad has to drive me to the doctor, just like last month. I tell the doc the uber Tylenol isn't working anymore (the pill I took the night before didn't touch it) so she prescribes me a Z-pack.
My doctor wrote me a note excusing me from work until next Monday, and has ordered me on permanent bedrest. She told me if I try to push myself with this, there's a good chance I'll end up in the hospital with viral pneumonia. (she knows I'm a dancer and work around a lot of cigarette smoke, and my club has mold/mildew during the damp months of the year)
I'm a full-time student (14 credit hours) and this is my first semester working full time (42 hours between dancing and my 10-hr internship). I average 60 hrs a week between school and work, and I am averaging 5-7 hours a night in sleep (there's no fixing this. I get home at midnight from dancing, take a 20-30 minute shower and have class at 9 the next morning).
I see all these other students who can handle a full-time job and school and do just fine... I guess not everyone can do it, though. This is the second time this has happened this semester.
I'm starting to wonder if I should quit dancing until the summer and quit when the fall semester starts.
