    Default japan?

my boyfriend just got back from a sake seminar in tokyo, and he fell in love. his long term plans now include moving there to work for a sake export company. if i am with him much longer, i am seriously going to consider going with him. it will not be for at least 6-8 years that we move (i hope. )but i was curious if anyone had ever worked there. i do not intend on dancing there, because i hear the clubs are very very different, but i thought it might be nice to have some info on the clubs just in case i needed a "filler" job between moving and finding a real job there in japan.

has anyone ever worked there? has anyone even been? i asked him yesterday if he visited the clubs, and he said he didn't, he just didn't have the time. i was VERY disapointed. (lol think i'm the only person who is annoyed my man didn't go to a SC hahahahahaha) so he can't give me any info.

i'm just really curious. if we were to move there, we would be imigrating, meaning secure all neccesary visas to work/live in japan before we went. (because i will be obtaining a "real job" somewhere. idk if i can handle being a career dancer) i am not sure if dancers are classified as ic's over there...i am not sure how that all works. *shrug*

I've lived there for about 10 years of my life (Born in Hokkaido). SC's in Nippon can be quite the same or very different

For example, ChiChi's gentleman's or Dejavu Gents club in Okinawa. Very western traditional strip club. There are plenty of Gentleman's club in Shinjuku (If you're in Tokyo), and lots of brothels in Roppongi.

    Just search around online.

^^ Btw, the really nice upscale totally non-shady or touchy places are nude geki-jo, but a lot of them rarely let foreigners in, sometimes they even place "No Gaijin" signs out. But if you search around you could find one to let you in I bet.

A close friend of mine did hostessing in Osaka for 6 years and loved it. She got a paid wage plus whatever the rate was from the men who booked her time. No stripping or sexual acts, just sitting and talking in high heels and pretty dresses, lots of rich business men (about $300 entrance fee at the door for customers, so definitely no time wasters!)

If you want I can ask her for more details about it.

I wrote and asked her for some more info, this is what she replied:

    Hostessing:
well, i got out when at a good time. the economy in jp has gone down hill & therefore all of my western gfs have given up their hostessing jobs. the club rules become a lot stricter for less pay & bonuses. I was BANK working in jp, but not any more. To work in the upperclass area like i did, u must be blonde & slender (which i was while working there) wear heavy make up & everynight u must wear long evening gowns or cocktail dresses, which are around $80-$100 each, which is a lot to invest in. I used to make $200 tax free per nite without any extras (like how much u drink or if u get the customers to buy u champagne)

In the upper class hostessing town, u must do dohan, which means u must meet ur client/s outside for dinner around 6pm then take them to the club (where they pay to get in & drink etc) so u give up ur free time.

    1. the object is to simulate a relationship with ur clients. u must call them in ur free time, keep them on the hook, make them feel special, let them hold ur hand, touch u, kiss u goodnite, never say u will never be with them, let them think they canhave u at any time, but dont let them, or u will loose them as a clinet, they will loose interest.
    2. u r a hostess, so host them. u do EVERTHING for them! take their coat & bag, pull out their chair, eat & drink after them, pour their drinks, adore them.
    3. make them buy u the most expensive drinks in the club so u get a bonus
4.make him think u r worth the $500 club entry fee, & $100 per/hour table fee, without any drinks or a tip for u
    5. dance with them
6.act elegant, sweet, child like & demure.
    7. talk about them, not u

    YOU MUST SPEAK JAPANESE

the other places u can work, is the foreign quarter, which is full of eastern european prostitutes. It is easy to get a job in these clubs, but it is much harder as the customers know they can buy sex from any of the girls.... the idea is to get a few regular customers, bring them to the club to spend money, then leave with them. but only see them at the club.
Sounds like a bit harder work than I thought but potential to make a lot of money. If you wait until the economy picks up a bit there would probably be better. Hope this was helpful!

Better start learning Japanese now, if he's serious and it looks like you'll be together for awhile.

My sister knew a man who wanted to be an international businessman - he learned 14 dialects of the Japanese language 100% fluently and it took him 8 years to be able to communicate coherently, and another 5-6 to be able to become completely fluid in his speech.

In the course of my exhaustive research on the sex industry in Japan, past and present, my conclusion is that i would only be willing and able to work at a full nude no-touch strip club where stage is your primary money maker. So...basically never.

Okay I couldn't quote the part your friend wrote, but whaaa? That seems like a ton of work for $200 a night? That's nothing!

I know right now there is a lot of messy legislation going on with immigration laws in Japan (mainly with people of Japanese descent), but I know it has created overall negative opinions about immigrants working in Japan.

But this is at the moment...kinda hard to know what 6 years from now will be like

I had a 'friend' that went to Japan to work, mind you this was a decade ago. She said she banked, she'd go to clubs and make money off of the American guys that were there for business.

Not only about immigration, but also business hour laws for "entertainment" venues. So, normal bars can still be open till two, but bars there for "entertainment" rather than food and booze have to close by 1am. It's really killed the business for a lot of hostess clubs, and some of the bars have tried to get around it by having a normal bar set up with very sexy young ladies tending the bar. Yeah. There's definitely a strange backlash going on right now.

ok, i am definitely NOT the resident grammar nazi on this board (ill leave that to dtxgirl ) but if this was the professional reply from the club, i would be wary of all of the "u"s as opposed to "you"s. maybe that is just me, but it seems like if a hostess club wants to present educated women to host businessmen, the person in charge of contacting potential employees should be able to properly type out a 3 letter pronoun. even if english is not their first language....

    maybe im just nitpicking though.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

    LOL...

    y r u picking on me? h8tr. Hehehehehe. LMAO... thanks... I think?

That is a very very good point. I've yet to work in a high class establishment that didn't use proper english, no matter what the language was.

lol, yeah, that's just my friend. Think she was having a lazy grammar day

Also I agree it sounds like a lot of effort for $200 a night, especially if the club is charging $500 entry and $100 per hour of your time. Unless she meant $200 on top of an hourly wage... not sure, but I think she mentioned to me ages ago she also got an hourly wage of around $30 an hour, that could be a complete fabrication on behalf of my dodgey memory though...

Let's also remember that $200 doesn't go anywhere near as far in Japan. It's a fucking expensive country.
