Hey you guys
So I took my squinty ass cousin to the eye doctor last week and they just gave her her glasses the other day.
She has vision of 20/100 uncorrected, and it's super hard for her vision to be corrected because she is nearsighted, farsighted, and has astigmatism - in both eyes.
Apparently her right eye does not correct well, and her left eye corrects a little bit better.
My uncle is her dad...and he has 20/200 vision and is pretty darn blind.
I really wanna know how bad this is, and to understand it.
I googled, but everything that comes up is that super basic insultingly obvious "It means that a normal person could see this from that many yards away, and a non normal person can see this from that many yards away".
I'm looking for real world terms, stuff that is tangible.
Could she read a magazine? What about road signs? Speedometer? Grocery store receipt?
I am asking this way, because well she is my cousin, and my family always kinda teased her about her vision. But if this is a really serious vision deficit, I'd like to know.
Partially cuz I am planning on apologizing profusely and also surpising her with some type of computer software and a large print magazine subscription I found while googling up vision problems.
I looove teasing people all in fun, but when it's something they really can't change about themselves, I just feel horrible. It's not like I'm teasing a person about wearing black lip liner or some other thing I find quirky... I'm teasing them about something they genuinely can't help. I do have a heart![]()
