    Default hair dye stripper

my hair is a deep ruby redy brown. I really want a bright ruby red but cant seem to acheive it. My hair wont cope with bleaching but i came across some hair stripper. Has anyone used it before? Is it hash and damaging on the hair? What exactly does it do? I am just concerned it may burn and damage my hair more than it already is but im dying for my bright ruby red hair
    You love it!

I may be thinking of the wrong product... but I'm pretty sure hair stripper = worse than bleach.

If you've never done it before, go talk to a professional hairstylist. They'll be able to consult you.

I personally never ever use DIY hair coloring products. Seen bad experiences with friends because they can be pretty harsh. I always get my hair professionally done. $40-50 hair color is worth a lot less than a burnt head of hair.

Your hair sounds pretty similar to mine. I get it colored professionally at a salon, and their "dark ruby red" is slightly browner that what I want it to be. I counteract this by dyeing over it with Special Effects hair dye. It doesn't damage your hair at all and comes in several shades of bright/dark red. It's really simple to do at home although you have to leave it on a lot longer than the bottle says for the best results. Google it!

Loreal Color Zap is your best bet.

It damages less than bleach. I used a few boxes of it before bleaching my hair to death trying to get it platinum and my hair is fine.

You can get it at sallys.

It stinks like ass though. There is sulfur in it I believe.

Dye your hair a light shade of natural red and then put a cream-based color like jerome russel or manic panic over it. That's what I've been doing for years. My hair is currently bright dark-ruby red. you can do the cream based color more often because it doesn't have too many harsh chemicals in it. So, dye your hair with the light color once every couple months and put the bright cream-based over it more often to brighten it up. For ref, this is my hair right now. It is Loreal Feria's "Ruby Fusion" (which is a medium red) with Manic Panic's "Vampre Red" over it.

Took both of these today. This one is inside.....

This one is outside in the sun......

you can see it looks a lot diff depending on the lighting, but that gives you an idea.

PS, what I'm talking about is basically the same as lola_sinn, the diff being she gets hers done at the salon first, but the concept is the same...

bright cream based semi-permanent color (special effects, manic panic, jerome russel) over "standard" permanent hair color.

Don't use a stripper if you can help it! It is more damaging than bleach. I'm a trained cosmetologist . And Also, red tends to be one of the most difficult colors to work with because it literally takes the longest to get out. And can be very frustrating. To avoid any major damage, I would say go to a professional salon and let them do the magic. Some salons may even let you bring in the color you want and use your tint or use it as a reference and use their own.
