Default Tanning, working, sweating, shaving, tanning, oh my!

Okay. I need advice. I started tanning to cover up how ghostly pale I am and to hide a couple spots of hyper pigmentation. I'm lucky enough to be one of those people that seems to get it right the first time. I never have trouble with ankles, knees, neck, face, etc, but I do use lotion and fade it.

I use BB Deep Dark Color lotion and do two coats; and then go over it with a coat or two of BB airbrush color. If I don't mix them the lotion turns orange or the spray just takes too long to get any color going. this only gives me medium color at first but I do it two or three days in a row.

My issue is with maintenance. When I shave, wash my face, etc, my tan fades. Since I have to do these things a minimum of once or twice a day I lose my tan or it becomes uneven.

I shave and exfoliate before I tan, and make sure my skin is moisturized. I'm lucky enough not to sweat much at all, but I noticed that my deodorant destroys my tan.

Have any of you developed a routine that includes all body maintenance but doesn't completely ruin a fake tan? Or would other brands last longer?

I have a similar kind of issue. i tan wednesday, thursday night, shave legs friday morning, then put tan developing moisturiser on and im a good colour for Friday night, then i either tan again saturday day, or if i dont have time, ill use the tan develop again, and moisturise sunday, monday, tuesday, like twice a day! I find if i use a gentle roll-on deoderant and then spray my tan is ok, and looks ok in the club lights, im not 100% happy with it though! My face is always paler than the rest of my body after the weekend hmmmm x (Oh i use everything by fake bake, fake bake tan, moisturiser (because its oil free and doesnt destroy my tan so much, and the tan developer) If i have some spots im not happy with i use Sally Hansen. Im sooooo pale and i hate it! x

How the F do you tan your back when you use lotion? I can reach every part of my back, but not very well. I have a hard time rubbing it in. That's why I go over it with a couple coats of airbrush tan to smooth things over.

I have a really kind sister lol, she tans my back for me! Or, if she is ever unavailable for tanning duties, i get an old like towel/sheer/pillowcase, put tan on it and like rub it accross my back (hard to explain!) like holding one end in each hand and rubbing it accross my back!

I love airbrush but i find it doesnt last very long, and i have super long hair anyway so if my back is ever a bit paler then its ok! I love my fake bake!

I apply tan and it only lasts me 2-3 days because I shower twice a day and I exercise a lot. Any sweating or showering will make the tan come off quicker. I just exfoliate and completely re-apply the tan again. It's a bit annoying but I prefer the look of a freshly done tan.

To extend the tan however try to moisturise as soon as u get out of the shower. Moisturise twice a day. Don't use a perfumed moisturiser, use something with no alcohol in it that is designed for dry skin. I used Dermaveen (I'm in Australia tho and I'm not sure if it's an Aussie product or not).

When you shower don't make the shower too hot because that will make the tan come off more. Don't have long showers either or soak in a bath.

There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.

Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

I much prefer the sunshine and natural tanning - but I go through a similar routine when I fake tan. I also have pale skin and my face is always lighter than the rest of me.

I have really long hair, so if I do my back I use gloves - or my husband does it for me.....so then we need a cool shower - and the whole process has to start all over again!

You can get this thing specifically for putting tan on your back. It looks like one of those brushes you use in the shower like a long handle but it has a sorta sponge on the end.
