I've noticed the more I have done weights and strength training the more pronounced my stretch marks. They're all over now. :/

I last stripped at a size 10 and I did well in my full nude semi dive bar. I knew the high end clubs wouildnt take me so i didnt bother with them.
Highest I made was $700 when other (thinner) women walked away with $10 and that was in the uk during a recession so if you have really have confidence in your body you can do well. I have an hourglass shape and carry weight well.
Saying that I wouldn't dream of dancing with my current size 12 figure because I'm just not toned and have seen bigger girls get negative comments. This is such an individual thing but typically you know yourself if you have the confidence to go out there and bank no matter what your size.

I did an "amateur" night tonight @ Platinum Plus and I was talking with the other contestants about my struggles with weight. One said she'd love to dance but felt she was too fat. (She was about a size 8, max) I told her for PA she was good. "I know I'll make money, but I don't want to be the token 'thick' girl that sticks out," she replied.
I've been the token fatty and let me tell you it sucks. You are the one that gets made fun of either openly or behind your back. Customers buy dances from you "as a joke". You get told "You have such a pretty face FOR A FAT GIRL" or "You'd look sooo much better if you dropped some weight."
I didn't want to be the token fatty anymore so I changed my life. No matter what you weigh you're still going to experience rejection. It's just easier when you're skinny.

Ok, so I re read my post from two years ago, most of it still stands. I think you have some very valid points Tempest, but I think it really depends on a girl's confidence and comfort level with herself. I'm now nowhere near BBW size, I've lost a lot of weight in the last 2 years, slowly, the healthy way, to date down 65 lbs from my heaviest, around 145, size 6/8 and 5' 7" and I have to say, it is MESSING with my confidence. Don't get me wrong, I know I look good, it's just so different from what I'm used to I don't know "who" I am anymore to a certain extent--more related to work/dancing than in everyday life. I can't find my stereotype anymore for baseline reference kind of thing :s. Everything is different. People have started calling me skinny and it's fucking wierd. I relate to people and customers at work in particular from this perspective that I am the chubby (but very nice) girl. I am so used to selling my personality that the last time I tweaked my hustle, I realized I was sitting with people for far too long and that they were taking a lot of advantage of my time for free. It is nice being able to work in the higher end clubs but that is the only major difference I have noticed. And just because I'm smaller does not mean I have to worry less about my weight now.
It's funny, you'd think with that kind of weightloss you'd be able to feel nice about it. But nope, in this industry, and now as a "regular sized girl" I can say I am more paranoid about my weight now than when I was in the upper 100s because of how stringent the standards are for me to keep my job at the new club I work at. When I was bigger I was not this stressed about maintaining my weight, and I was making only 100-150 ish less per shift on average (so still enough to live comfortably) and I'm pretty sure that was the difference between working a dive/mid level club and an upscale one, though granted the difference in body type was a pre requisite to the change with regards to getting past the gatekeepers...
As a fat nerd in highschool I used to dream of the day I would wake up and just be...hot. It's here and it's just not that big of a fucking deal. My knees hurt less but winter fucking sucks now. Guys harass you even more on the street. You get more free shit. And that's pretty much it.
Just some food for thought from another big pound dropper. My perspective might be different because I was overweight for 10-12 years through adolescence and early adulthood, as well as the first 2-3 years of my dancing career.

Fatima, I can't speak on dancing in Baltimore so hopefully someone in that area can help. As far as the weight, I'm going to be totally honest: unless you have thick skin and are willing to work extra hard, I would probably lose some weight first. That being said, where there is a will there is ALWAYS a way. Some customers will be jerks, and that's at every size though. You cannot avoid negative comments no matter how you look. But anyways, getting hired heavier is tricky. However, how you are proportioned matters a lot. If the weight is mostly in your stomach, it's going to be tough. But honestly none of us can say whether you will be hired or not. I stand by my statement that it will be in your best interest to lose, but heck, you might do well so maybe give a couple dives a try. Good luck.

I will add the other night a veteran and I had a discussion about how "easy" girls think the job is, and it led to us determining the literal one thing that decides whether a girl will be a successful stripper or not. Here it is:
If a girl can walk up to a table and receive an awful rejection from a guy- one where a total disgusting slimeball of a guy gives you the "up-down" and says something like, "no I want a girl with bigger tits/smaller ass/whatever" and brush it off like it never happened, and approach the next table with the same energy and friendly smile she had at the last one, she'll make it.
We all start with an awkward hustle, nobody looks like a "proper stripper", nobody can really dance (and these are all things you will continuously improve throughout your entire career), but those who can handle rejection and keep on moving are the ones who will be around long enough to learn these things.

I know this will probably be the hardest sales job EVER! (Worse than when I was working for this major phone company in store and we had to see $100 of items per customers, I cried everyday) I know my feelings may be hurt, I also know that I'm not everyone's type. BUT I know that I am fuckable, desirable and special. As long as I keep that in my mind, I should be good you think? I really want the experience of being a stripper, making money, learning how to hustle and flirt and being more open sexually (not with customers, but comfortable with myself more)

Telling dancers that they'll "lose weight dancing" is like saying you'll win the lottery just by buying a ticket. A lot of factors depend on that. If you booze it up at work and order takeout you're going to gain weight. You have to eat clean and bust your ass outside of work as well. Don't rely on the club as a crutch.

None of us can say who will or won't get hired. Hell, I auditioned at the newly renovated shitholes that used to be Divas near me and I didn't get hired.

If you're an endomorph you'll need more than just dancing a few days a week ..even if you don't eat badly. I'd at least start lifting an getting into shape a bit before dancing just cause those long nights in 7 inch click-clacks are murder on the knees and floor work too. When you're heavier or out of shape it can f*ck you up a bit or injure you.

If it's just a few llbs of chub a lub like I had this time around then a few weeks of clean eating and cardio will lay a good foundation. Now if there's major weight loss involved you should go slowly and don't crash diet or starve yourself.

Yes, ladies, I totally agree. You can't just dance and eat shit all the time and expect a miracle. I just meant that the OP (Fatima I mean) says she is 200, it's generally a bit easier to start losing if you are at a heavier weight like that. Dancing can also keep you busy so you don't snack around as much. It's definitely a mix of dancing, hitting the gym (mainly this in my opinion), and following a proper diet. And Like what was mentioned above, don't eat the crap at the club!!! I find it ironic that a job where you are supposed to be fit serves the crappiest food. The last house mom I had bought Mcdonalds for us most days and served cookies and shit like that! It was hard to resist! If you get hired take some healthy snacks with you to keep you full and not bloat.
Sorry to go off topic but on a side note Tempest I really relate to a lot of your posts I have had to battle weight myself and it can be a bitch but it is so worth it in the end. I've recently gained some weight from depression and have had trouble getting it back off. The gym has literally become my therapy.
I also have recently gone from 200 pounds down to 150 and am fearful that I will have a lot of trouble getting a job. I have yet to try auditioning yet because I don't believe I am toned enough or that my tricks will be good enough. I do yoga, pole fitness, and HIT exercises and eat well, does anybody have any tips for a newbie like myself? Exotic dancing has been a dream of mine for awhile now and I want nothing more than to explore my passion and also ya know, make bank. How would one go about learning how to hustle?

Read Hustle Hut. Like, the whole section of the site.
150 lbs at what height?
What city or part of the country or world are you in? Different body types are more or less acceptable in certain places.
Don't worry about knowing pole tricks at first- you have plenty of time for that shit. I barely did tricks last time I danced because no one at my club tipped on stage but I am decent a beginner - intermediate level pole work.
You do not need to look like an olympic medalist as far as how toned you are but in general what clubs want to see; and the girls that do well have a flat stomach (not necc. abs) and firm thighs and butt with the least amount of cellulite you can pull off. It's also usually dark in there so little flaws don't show.

Thanks for the tip! I am 5'2, but hold most of it in my butt lol. I've been doing pole fitness for about six months now and have built up quite a lot of muscle and have a few tricks but I see some girls and am totally discouraged in my own, I can butterfly, cross ankle release and crucifix pretty well now as my best moves but nothing much more advanced than that. Calgary, AB, Canada, as for location.

I think you have a good overall frame. Your waist is very tiny (esp. from the back). I am not sure if Canadian clubs have higher standards or it's that the Canadian dancers I have known have just had better bodies but IME they hold themselves to a higher standard than much of the US. I think if you lost another 15-20 lbs and focused on losing body fat you would be good. Your stomach is not bad at all but could be a little firmer. I can see your ribs a little up top so I would work on the obliques and lower abs. You could do some weight training on your thighs/quads and calves but you do not seem to have much cellulite that I see so you could likely achieve this in a few months time. Also, I do not consider you BBW at all, just a little bit "soft". HIT is great, Yoga is great (you may want to incorporate hot yoga if possible) but def. add some more weight training to the mix, use heavy weights for your legs and butt (which looks to me like it is pretty great naturally).
Also, I know you didn't ask for this and I do not mean to nitpick or dig- I just think it would give you more of a "strippery" look to add some blonder highlights to your already blonde hair and get a little tan- this will also make you look more toned. Good luck!

Totally forgot to reply to this one before posting my other one!!! Thank you so much! Yes, I agree my tummy and legs need to be tighter, do you think cardio would help with the belly fat? People in my life keep pressuring me to do cardio for weight loss but I hate it and definitely don't see the same results I see when I do pole fitness. Not nit picky at all! I posted in the hopes people would "nit pick" for my future benefitI was actually thinking of going way blinder than I am now or switching it to fire engine red, which do you think would create the illusion best? Thank you for your advice
it is greatly appreciated!!!

I always made the most money when my hair was really blonde and really long- but some guys really like red heads. I would stick to blonde at first but once you end up finding a club; if there are a lot of girls with blonde hair and not many red heads you can dye it at that point. Cardio will certainly help you lose weight and burn fat but you def. need to incorporate weight training. Muscle uses more calories than fat does and it will help you get there sooner.
Also, make sure you are at the right target heart rate. I assumed you were 22 years old (made that number up) and got this:
Weight Loss / Aerobic Fitness 3-5 days for 20-60 minutes 70 - 80% - 140
Percentage is % of max. HR and the 140 is beats per minute. Def. keep doing what you are doing but if you add weight training and cardio you will see better results; faster.
When I go from not in shape to in shape I generally spend about 2 hours a day at the gym a min. of 4 days a week. I know this is tough for a lot of people but if you really want something you have to work hard. Once you have reached your goal you can cut back to 3 times a week about 60-90 mins a day.
