    Default Nyc raid

Ok, I am seriously thinking about going 2 jersey or LI to dance because every time I think I've found a club I want to work at, I hear that they have been raided. What exactly are the NYPD looking for. Do any of you ladies know of a decent club in NYC that has not been raided with in the past 2 years and doesn't have any type of illegal activity so I won't have to worry about it possibly getting raided. Thank you in advance.

^^^ to be perfectly blunt, the way that New York state and city laws are written, there really is no such thing as a NYC club that doesn't have ANY illegal activity going on. If clubs and dancers followed the letter of the law, no customers would ever come back to the club a second time. Thus any NYC is the potential target of a bust.

The REAL issue of course has nothing to do with breaking the law, but has a great deal to do with being 'well connected', with contributing to the 'police widows and orphans fund', with keeping a comparatively low profile / not pissing off neighbors etc. And anything can happen in an 'election year' !!!

Fact #1. Strip clubs get raided.

Fact #2. Any club can be raided.

Fact #3. You can be picked up on a bullshit charge regardless of whether you were involved in illegal activity or not. It will be your word against an undercover cops.

Fact #4. You can also be subpoenaed as a witness and forced to testify even though you yourself were not arrested or charged with anything.

The most important FACT that I want you to take away is that if you strip you're risking being caught up in a raid.

I dunno where you got this arbitrary '2-year' figure from.... I don't think it makes much of a difference. If a club hasn't been raided in a long time I (personally... I could be wrong...) would worry that the club was DUE for a raid. That's just my 2 cents.

Melonie is right... NYC clubs are chock-full of illegal shit. And she is also 100% right about the fact that clubs get in cahoots with the "right" people and grease a few wheels in order to operate outside the letter of the law. *wink wink wink* If it weren't for that, every club would have been boarded up by now. The authorities know.... they just don't bother with that can of worms unless it suits their agenda (hence the rise in raids during election years... it makes politicians look good to shut down those naughty naughty strippahs!).

Anywho... I've danced in squeaky clean NJ clubs that have been raided too. If the township was pissed at the notion of naked women corrupting the youth (or some other BS complaint) they would send cops in to raid, fine, and/or arrest strippers for lewdness and issue tickets to the owners for noise violations yada yada yada... etc.

If you are VERY afraid being involved in a raid. Don't strip. Why worry every day and get mired in that kind of stress? Don't risk it.

    Seriously!

actually i've found a club that hasn't been raided since 2000. and thats honestly because its on the up and up no bull shit. there is money to be made in clubs that don't have all the extra shit. If a dancer wants to find a club that is on the up and up and not have to worry about getting caught up in un necessary drama then honestly whats wrong with that. and my concern came from the fact that since December a lot of NYC clubs have been raided and if not yet will soon be. that information coming from, lets just say the horses mouth.

I would love love looooooooooove LOOOOOOVE to know which NYC club is "on the up and up". And I'd love to know what horses you are talking to?

I never said anything was wrong with looking for a relatively safer/better/more legit club. However if you believe that your club is entirely wholesome you are either pleasantly optimistic or a lil' bit naive. Even if the club is as proper as a church social, there is still the risk of a raid. There are no guarantees.

Look, I'm sorry if you took offense to my post but candy-coating the reality of the situation would be doing you and StripperWeb a disservice. I'd rather be blunt and honest than lull you into a false sense of security. I'm glad you found a club that you are happy about. I wish you the best of luck there.

Now I have a question.... cuz I'm a little confused.

What confuses me, is that you hint or imply that you have some sort of "inside scoop" in terms of where raids will and will not happen in NYC. Which is something that I, personally, find verrrry odd. If you already had this info, why bother posting a question here? You already knew which clubs were "safe". Sooooo.... what gives?

its not odd at all, actually. i posted the question to see if what i was being told was in fact true or in fact a lie. since this post has had over 300 views and not even 5 responses. and the two people that did respond basically stated that there is no club in NYC that hasn't been or will not be raided. then I guess what i was told was correct. that and the fact that 1 of the clubs that was said to get raided got raided i believe two weeks ago or so. so there ya go.

and nope im not naive nor optimistic if my club does get raided then hey shit happens. but i'd rather be in a club that gets raided n nothing is found then to be in a club where i know they are selling everything from sex to illegal substances.

Yes I'm also interested in this clean NYC club. Not because I would want to ever leave my club, but I just can't imagine it really exists, with money making potential. I really don't see the issue if a club gets raided and you're not doing anything, I don't really see the issue. I've been dancing for almost 10yrs and never been at a club that's been raided, when I was there or that I heard of so who even knows.

Besides lots of people read this thread because they think you're going to be talking about an NYC raid that happened, not asking about possible raids in the future. So I don't see what your stats about 300 people reading and 5 responding has to do with anything. Most people don't have any type of inside scoop on raids, nor do they really care.

But I'm glad you found a place you think is on the "up and up" and are happy, that's all that matters.

I heard from a manager that they get raided because some of the girls are being forced into slavery by men who import them from other countries like Russia, ect. They generally have to pay off a debt. The cops ask for Ids and ask the girls if they are working there of their own free will. Of course they say yes. I am going out to LI to work because the housefees are too high and there's too many girls. I have to compete with the whole European Union now. Im not paying 100 a night in this economy.

Contact a lawyer or call one of the libraries and see if they can help you find the municipal code and the laws related to dancing. Unfortunately they don't seem to be online.

Alternatively you can call the Sheriff or Head Detective for your city and ask for which laws relate to you - since they will likely know what they try to bust on.
