    Tired $160 no-show fee?

So I'm super excited because I finally grew hairy balls and went in to talk to a manager at Deja Vu about dancing there. I'm hired without even having to audition. Sweet! But I was bummed when the manager was talking to me about all the fees we have to pay. I know this is standard- you're an independent contractor so you have to pay "rent" to work there or whatever. Fine. But the numbers made me die a little bit inside. They take 30% of everything you make-dances, tips, everything. And then you have to tip everyone out (there was no specific number but the manager made it clear that I better be generous). And then if we are ever scheduled for a shift and we can't make it in for any reason, we owe $160 plus 50% of everything we make the next time we work. And I forgot how much we have to pay if we are late. I don't plan on not showing up to a shift or being late or anything like that, but it's just scary to think of how much money I would have to give up if that ever happened. Maybe that's what keeps the girls from doing it. Anyways, maybe it just seems like a lot of money to fork over to me because I'm not a pro in this industry. What are your club fees like?

DV is notorious for taking money. You can make good money at many of their clubs, but when you factor in all they take...whew! I danced at a DV club for the majority of my time, and it is horrendous what they do. If you can find a different club that you like where you can make decent money, try working there since they won't take as much.

It's mostly all talk to keep you from screwing up/screwing around.

Make money, stay out of trouble, don't be a pain in the ass... and they'll likely let you slide through any extra fees.
Or, Like my DJV, if you fuck up regularly... they'll do something like "schedule yourself for an extra shift next week and I won't charge you the $160"...

There are no other strip clubs close to here, so I don't really have a choice in finding somewhere else. I already have to drive 40 minutes to get to DV. I really like the place, it's sooooo nice inside and so far the custies seem pretty cool plus they have all these rules to keep everyone safe. So I feel good about the place. I heard some of the girls are a nightmare though, but that's ok with me... For now. I guess I just imagined making more money. I appreciate the input and I know they are just trying to scare me out of fucking around. So this is like a Deja Vu thing?? How are other clubs set up as far as fees and whatever?

I agree. Once you have "proven" that you are reliable and don't cause trouble, they will likely let you slide and not charge you that "fee" if you call off. I work at DV and I have never been charged for calling off. Just make sure you do call if you can't make it, and don't do very often. I personally would never work for any club that charged me for not coming in, even when the reason was legitimate and I called beforehand.

Who do you have to tip?? We can tip the DJ, bouncers, bartenders, waitstaff. I only tip the DJ and bouncers. If the bartender and waitstaff have done something for me specifically, then I will tip them. Don't buy into having to give outrageous tips to everyone.

Yeah. That's pretty much a standard DJV thing.

As far as how other places are with fees and such... there's a bit of variety... but in the end... it works out to about the same.

As far as imagining making more money... I make more money working for their clubs than I do other clubs that "charge less"... Even if they keep more of your money.
For example... my "home" club... I payed out an average of $2-300 a night to work there... but was leaving with $600-1000.
I worked at a club across the city... only had to pay $30 to work... and was making an average of $200 a night on the weekend.

In my experience... DJV can keep girls working at their clubs (even charging as much as they do) because the girls still make so much money they don't mind paying out like that.

Wow that's a lot. Makes me happier about what I pay.

During the week I pay 70 and 126 on Fri & Sat.

If we miss work when we are on the schedule we have to pay our house fee, well that was the rule, but it's been so slow lately and the girls aren't making much so my club doesn't really fee us anymore for stuff like that.

I work at a Deja Vu club.

Our regular house fee is $70. If you're willing to work a schedule (3 days a week, 8 hours a day), the fee drops to $20.

They take a percentage of dances too, but it's different for each dance.

    $20 dance - $5 fee
    $30 dance - $10 fee
    $100 dance - $28 fee
    VIP room - 50% fee

It's okay, it doesn't bother me any. I don't sell VIP rooms all that often, so it's no skin off my nose. I like my DV club. Best all-nude in town I've worked for.

This is why i refuse to go on any schedule at a DV club. I used to work at 3, i only work at 1 DV owned club now... and house fee is only 20$ if we are there >7hrs, and 50$ if we are there less than 7.

    their cut of the money:
10$ table dance, we get all
    30$ LD, we get 22
and then the CRs: well the price ranges and our cut ranges a lot... on the smaller ones we get a bit more than 50%, on the really expensive rooms we get about 50%.

I hate the deja vu chain, but i like my club (BL). it is clean and the money is good and it is not overstaffed. I also liked the deja vu club NOLA when i worked there, but i hated hustler-- the management at hustler was the most disorganized group of drunken idiots i have ever encountered running a strip club-- there was no point showing up with my A-game when the management would show up with their D-game and be to disorganized to run a fucking credit card.

but yea, 160$ fee is standard for DV clubs... thats what it is if i schedule and then no show at BL. although i dont think they also take half the money you make... now what i am wondering, if htey take half the money you make, does this mean you only get like 25% of a champagne room? because usually they already take 50%....
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

What a freakin rip-off! That shit is just criminal. It defeats the purpose of stripping. If I had to give all that away I'd switch to camming or bartending or something else. That's beyond abusive.

^This. That sucks. My no-show fee is 50. And really, I've only called off once with a legit reason and it was overlooked. More or less just meant to scare dancers into showing up to work.

Yeah 160 plus 50% of all your earnings. I went in today and they made it clear that they are serious about it.

^^^Some are not so bad. Mine is not bad at all. Why are some saying they are taking 50% of your money ????? We have never had that, even with the old set up of a $7 cut out of $20 dance. Ours pay out system is different, but not a 50% cut.

Ok so this is what happened.. I had to start work at 12 noon and I was running a little late.. So I got to work at around 12:05. I was all ready though.. Dressed and had my makeup done and my hair too, so I just had to take my street clothes off and BAM! I was good to go.

Well because I was late, I had to pay $60 plus 50% of everything I made that day. I only made 40 bucks in dances so I still owe 20 dollars plus 50% of everything I make the next time I come in.

It made me really sad because I walked out owing money after working my ass off for 7 hours. It was soooo slow that day. I'm just bummed because after everyone telling me they probably aren't serious- guess what? They are. They watch for girls coming in late so they can rape their pockets. I know I should be on time and I learned my lesson, but I got my purse stolen the night before and I didn't have a phone or my drivers license, and I was dealing with DMV shit and trying to get my stuff so I got a little lost. All the girls told me to watch out because they want to take our money for any reason. Bummer. It is really clean and the security is really good but I'm starting to doubt if it's worth it if I'm not making money. I'm gonna stick it out for a little while longer but so far, not so good.

Why did you have to pay $60???? Is $60 just the late fee!!??? That is such bullshit, a mananger has NEVER charged a girl more than like $20 for being late and that is when they were HOURS late. I hope you can move somewhere else where you won't be taken advantage of like this. This DV may be especially bad because they know they are the only game in town. I don't understand the 50% thing either. Thats just fucked.

^^^ unfortunately, with the poor economy and reduced club customer spending, lots of clubs are now attempting to cover their 'costs of doing business' by extracting a larger share of dancer earnings. And just as unfortunately, in smaller cities where there aren't a lot of clubs competing with each other, clubowners can now risk 'bleeding' the upper echelon dancers without fear that they will wind up working for a competitor club across the street.

In regard to clubs charging high 'late fees', clubs coercing dancers into fixed hour fixed day schedules etc., this is all part of the same trend. That trend is based on the fact that there won't be any shortage of new dancers who are willing to kow-tow to club management in the event that current dancers get tired of paying the 'late fees' and/or higher house fees to avoid a fixed hour fixed day schedule.

Also, 50% of $1000 a night earnings potential - even with a $160 house fee being charged - is still better than 100% of $200 a night earnings potential and a token low house fee being charged. This is particularly the case when the club is more upscale / security is better / contact levels are lower etc.

There's just no getting around the fact that from the club's standpoint their mortgage payments / utility bills / property taxes etc. are rising at the same time that their customer cover charges / bar profits are falling. In order to cover the club's 'costs of doing business' they need a NEW source of revenue ... and it's pretty obvious that the only available option is to extract more 'blood' from the club's dancers.

My club had a £10 (about $15) late fee unless you ring up in ok time with a good reason/excuse as to why ur going to be late, reliable girls are unlikely to be charged this, its the persistent offenders, then it goes up to either £20 or a weeks suspension.

My club is clamping down on girls who wander in at 10/11pm (we have to be there at 8:30pm to get changed and ready to be on the floor by 9pm when we open) and earn money when the clubs busy, taking away from the girls who are there on time and have grafted while it's dead.

OMG! I am so lucky. At Daydreams in Philadelphia we pay $30 during the week for house fee (including tip out- though I usually tip extra to the DJ and bouncers) and $40 on Friday and Saturday. NO late fees or call out fees. Couches cost $20 S-F we pay $5
Saturday they cost $30 and we pay $10
Rooms are $150 1/2 hour and we pay $50. I love my club.

When I first started dancing in NJ, we had a $250 no show fee (1992!) and a$1 a minute late fee. But we also (I swear) got sent home if we complained during a shift and had to pay $250 in order to come back. This meant that you couldn't say, "Wow. It's slow in here today". The management's mantra was, "One bad apple spoils the bunch".

Needless to say, in the 4 years I worked there, only twice did I ever hear anyone complain.

This is very true. the club i work at now takes roughly 50% of my CR earnings and i make more money at this club than i have anywehre else. and it is clean and security is on top of things.

    .
Yea you have less fees, but at the same time you only get 15$ a dance and 100$ a half hour. At one of the higher fee clubs, i get 22$ a dance and the bare MINIMUM is 150$ on a 250$ half hour room (actually if the customer pays credit it turns into a 127$ cut for us) BUT i usually dont sell the half hour rooms... i go for the rooms that give me 500+ an hour. Id rather sell a 2k room and only keep 1k of it than sell a 150$ room and keep 100$ of it.

ugh i cant believe im defending the vu. this makes me hate myself a bit.

Wait I'm confused and this is why I don't work for Deja Vu ever.

Your late fee is $60? Plus 160 house PLUS 50% of what you made?

The 50% alone is robbery. $160 is plenty and then they want half of the rest?

Is there some sort of dive you could work at and keep your money? Seriously.

Yes you may make $1000 but they are stealing the other $500!
