Default club has been dead for four weeks, time to move on?

I've only been dancing for less than two months, was hired at a small non alcohol serving club and did really well the first few weeks..but since the day after Valentines Day our attendance has dropped dramatically. Other clubs in our area have had a dip too but not as bad as ours.

Ours is a small place, with a twelve dollar cover, serves no alcohol, parked next to two more well known clubs that have no cover till eight and serve alk and appetizers. Our place is visible from the street but everyone thinks it's a video shop until they go inside ..it's poorly advertised.

I've been trying to hang in there to ride out an attendance dip but all of the dancers are consistently leaving the club in the red. Our house charges a $70 fee to dance. Other clubs pay dancers 10/hr and don't charge a house fee. You can sell drinks to customers, they also have VIP rooms.

I don't want to suffer from grass is greener syndrome but it's been bad for almost a month..I'm just so new to stripping so I wanted to ask for feedback from you guys.. thanks!

when i was new, i worked at a club and the situation was similar. attendence dropped but i liked where i was at-- it was a dive bar in the cleveland ghetto, and since some violent shit happened there im not going to say it was friendly, but it was a good place to start.

but yea, attendence went downhill. and a girl started to have it out for me. and i said fuck it, on to greener pastures... i tried out at a different place and started working 2 clubs for a while and then moved on.

if its a small place htey will probably wnat to keep you if you typically did well-- use this to your advantage and try to stop doing schedules or say you are taking a break. try a different club and try working both clubs or dont quite quit the first one-- you are a stripper, you are allowed to play the clubs just like you play men. plus you have the advantage of low expectations- they already assume you are flaky and crazy etc etc.

if you like the new club better after a bit, then switch. if not, you still can go back to the first one. no harm done.

i recommend trying a new type of club. as a newbie, its not so much grass is greener syndrome as much as it is expanding your knowledge of the industry and trying to find find a club that suits your style. Personally, a club with customers is usually a good start .
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

Yeah, I'll agree here. You haven't even been at this club long enough to be "committed" to it, and you have never explored your other options. This could just be a slow time for the club, just don't burn your bridges where you are so you'll be able to get back in if you want to come back.

I swear, it sounds like you are working at my club! We are in the same situation, except I've been at my club 7 months now (first club for me too)

I would also recommend cutting back on nights at your current club while picking up a couple of nights at different clubs and see how it is there. Definitely don't leave your club on bad terms incase you want to go back. This is what I'll be doing too.

Thank you for the responses..three other dancers have left in the last week. My manager is actually a great guy and says if I finish out the week that I can come back any time. I don't know how they are going to stay in business. I hope them the best but really want to check out what it's like to work at different clubs. My current club won't allow us to work there and somewhere else..and they also require us to work one slow day and one weekend, which is fine I usually want to dance four nights a week.

I've visited each of the other clubs, as a paying customer and also to talk to management, so there are options..within walking distance.

I appreciate the responses, you all are very helpful..

I say move on for sure! They charge 70$ just to walk in the door and dance? If it's dead you could be in the hole every night.. Are you making good money?
If you aren't satisfied with your earnings and feel you could try other clubs go for it. You could always go back if you feel the need. Just end the job professionally.

Yes, according to management I was doing really well for the first few weeks. I was averaging 10 to 15 private shows in a shift ..stage tips varied of course. I was selling as many private shows as the most 'popular' dancer. Then right after Valentines day the customer attendance slowed a LOT.

One of the managers called me last night asking me to come in , he told me there was a crowd of people and he only had one dancer. I dropped everything and was there in half an hour, only to find that 8 other dancers had shown up. And the club was empty again. We had TWO people in there until 11pm.

This is the first place that hired me because it's also the first place I walked into. I should have known when I walked into an empty place that something was up. They don't do any advertising, in fact a common comment I hear from customers when they come in is "I had no idea this was a strip club" ...our well known competitor is two doors down.

Combined with their high cover charge (compared to free till 8 in the others), no alcohol served and the place being the size of a large living room, I don't think I'd return to this club anyways..but yes I don't want to burn bridges.
