Default Anyone get tingly toes constantly from your heels?

Was just curious if this happens to other ladies also- even when I'm not wearing my heels my toes feel sort of tingly ever since I started dancing (a little over a week ago) I know I still have to get used to the heels and such but is that normal? It's a weird feeling to explain, not numb, but just sort of feel like a tingle in them..haha, eh, hoping you ladies have had the same thing!

Yes. This happends to me too. When I wear heels and especially when I smoke. Just means there's not good circulation in our piggies.

This happens to me too. It goes away if I stretch my feet and calves when I get home.

I stretch my feet by getting down on my knees and the balls of my feet, and then sitting on my heels as long as I can stand it.

I stretch my calves by doing one-legged downward dogs.

The more I stretch, the less my toes tingle.

Thank you shoshanna! I do stretches before work and sometimes afterwards but it seems like my toes still tingle, even on days off, such a strange feeling, it couldn't be causing circulation problems by wearing heels could it? Usually that's why we get pins and needles, that's all I was worried about! Anyone else that has had this happen?

yes, I get horrible pins and needles in my right foot. I have a herniated disc in my lower back, I had an episode of sciatica about six months ago, and i lost feeling in my right foot-the doctor called it drop foot, luckily that drop foot went away, but the pins and needles are terrible. streching is definetly the best idea, but I don't keep up with it. Good luck to you, try soaking your feet in a basin of warm water- as hot as you can take it and add like a cup of epsom salt, that really helps me.

Thank you! It's not preventing or hurt while I walk or anything, just annoying really- and wanted to make sure it wasn't something more serious, I'm guessing especially since I'm a sneaker kinda girl and rarely wear heels to begin with, its my feet getting used to it- hopefully! I think another girl said in another thread "stripper initiation" hehe

This is PRECISELY what I was going to mention. I have chronic problems from a herniated disc in my lower spine. I've had 3 bouts of surgery and still have pins and needles and numbness in my left leg and toes. I also have a permanent drop in my left foot and I still get dreadful sciatica sometimes too.

I'm not saying that yours is the same - but - please bear in mind that 'tingles' in toes means either poor circulation or a back strain that affects the sciatic nerve. Anatomically, it can't be anything else.

You would be surprised how much the effect of heels vs. flats has on your lower spine. If you've been used to sneakers and have only just started in heels then it could be a minor back strain, as heels make you walk in a totally different way which alters the position of your spine. They cause 'jarring' to the discs between the vertibrae too.

Be really careful about your back. Do the stretching excercises as the girls have said. Long, hot soaks in the bath will help too. If as you say the stretching helps the pins and needles then it could well just be a pinched nerve or poor circulation in the foot muscles. However, 'pins and needles' normally means a nerve irritation.

It may well just clear up on its own in time, but if it persists - go see the 'Doc. Your back is very precious.

Thanks girls, I have scoliosis so I'm sure thats related- I use the sports pain rubs after work and seems to be fine, I hope it's just me getting used to the heels- I don't wear 8 inch ones or anything haha so I'm hoping it's just getting used to it. Thanks for all of your help

Yes and it went away when I wore a different style of shoe.

I wish we could wear sneakers haha! The shoes I have are pretty simple, 1 black pair, 1 clear, both with ankle straps and not more than 6 inches, so I can't really get anything more plain =/ I'm hoping after a few more shifts it'll go away, its only been 2 weeks, but just thought it couldn't be a good thing if your toes are tingling! I usually wear the black ones though so maybe I'll try wearing the clear ones more and see if that helps?

For sure it's related and you really should be taking extra care to be honest.

Oh I sure do! I'm always cautious and try to take care as much as possible, take hot showers to relax muscles after work, I also model and do a lot of dance related shoots (been dancing since I'm 5) and also don't let it stop me from doing what I love, though do listen to my body when enough is enough. I know a lot of ladies have back issues, or other health problems and don't let it stop them from working or just living life, and that's my goal, but also want to be safe too. I know stretching and taking hot showers was the most popular tips but any other tips from ladies with similar issues, feel free to share the secrets!

believe it or not, 8 inch heels are often a lot easier on feet than 6 inch heels. different center of gravity, though, and that can take some getting used to. the heels themselves don't get any bigger, just the platforms. if anything, the heels are a bit shorter on the shoes with higher platforms.

take time here and there to sit down and maybe rub your feet a bit and stretch them.

if you aren't working out much, you should probably start. i find that doing cardio everyday helps my circulation, which makes my feet less likely to get all tingly at work.

I have enough issues walking/standing in these darn shoes, forget about 8 inchers haha!! I think my feet are getting more used to it though, and definitely going to start working out more- if there were only more hours in the day, would make it so much damn easier lol
