Default Pole dancing and stripper classes?

So I want to start dancing a few months after I give birth. I want to take some fitness classes postbaby to get back in shape. I'm a little shy about the idea the idea of stage dancing but really want to learn pole tricks. So I'm thinking it might be fun to take some of those pole dancing/stripper aerobics types of classes. Has anyone ever taken them and learned anything from them? I'm worried it's 100% gimicky but I want to take fitness classes anyway so I don't know.

There's lot of people on here who have taken them, and some people on here that teach as well. I'm not fully sure that I understand what you mean by gimicky, but there are lots of different types of studios out there. There's classes that teach in more of a yoga manner, classes that just teach tricks, and classes taught by actual strippers. Just try a few studios and see if you find one that you like. I'd also suggest asking the instructors who they've trained with though or where they learned. Not all instructors are created equal and pole dancing is one of those things that you don't want to get hurt learning.

I take pole classes and they are fun, as long as you aren't going to use their routines on a stage. For learning tricks, building strength, and having fun, they are great!

I also take classes from time to time and where I go they are a freaking hard workout. I am very fit and I am exhausted by the finish of the warm up.

^Oh I should note that the beginner level was fairly easy though... Its not till doing upside down moves that things started getting exhausting. Especially cause they make you do about 50 push ups just in the warm up.
