Sorry If this is tmi, but it's stripperweb so whatever.

Letely I've been having to pee-- a lot. I didn't think much of it at first but now I'm worried. I've also noticed that there is uncomfortable pressure now in my lower ab area. It feels funny if I press it. Not painful, but definitely uncomfortable

It doesnt burn or hurt when I pee, but it does get very uncomfortable quickly if I have to hold it. And usually when I have to go, I have to piss-- a lot.

Don't want to go to the dr. My insurance is fail

does this sound like it could be a UTI? Input from you girls would be great, I just drank a lot of cranberry juice...
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

    Hello Athena,

First I would say that you are describing symptoms of a UTI. It is caused by bacteria that enters the urinary tract. As the bacteria spreads, your symptoms can become more severe, including severe cramping, nausea, and fatigue. If it reaches your kidneys you could have a big problem on your hands.

Antibiotics are the by far the best way to knock out the infection quickly. When I had mine I first tried the natural remedies cranberry juice and echinacea, but my infection was too far along for them to be effective. The antibiotics knocked it right out.

Still, if you are opposed to visiting a doctor at this time, I would suggest getting pure cranberry juice from a natural food store because it would be more effective.

Here are some other remedies taken from:
    http://www.home-remedies-for-you.com...%28UTI%29.html

I will note that these remedies are not proven to be effective in clinical trials, and I have not personally used any except cranberry juice and echinacea, with results stated above. I hope you feel better Athena.

Treating Urinary Tract Function by use of Baking Soda

A mixture of 1/2 tsp baking soda in eight ounce glass of water can be very helpful on the first signs of urinary tract infection. The presence of baking soda in your system raises the acid-base balance of the acidic urine.
Treating Urinary Tract Infection by drinking water or fluids

It is very important for your system to have a good flow of urine. This can be done by consuming plenty of water. It cleanses your body by diluting and flushing out the unwanted substance.
Treating Urinary Tract Infection by Cranberry Juice

Cranberry juice disallows bacteria to cling to the cell, which line the urinary tract. It is a great remedy to fight this infection. If you cannot have the cranberry juice directly you can mix it with apple juice to add some taste.
Treating Urinary Tract Infection by Echinacea

You can consume at least two capsules three times a day of Echinacea and Oregon grape root or goldenseal to fight the infection.
Increase the intake of vitamins C

Vitamin C prevents the bacterial growth due to the acidic environment created in the bladder and the urinary tract. It is very important to have a healthy diet which is rich in minerals and other supplements for your daily quota. You can maintain the alkaline content in urine by a rich diet of milk, fruits, and fresh vegetables.
    Avoid irritant foods

A diet which consists of processed food like cheese, chocolate, dairy products should be avoided. You should also avoid spicy food, caffeine, alcohol and cigarettes which otherwise is also harmful. Avoid carbonated drinks like beer, soda or any other drink with fizz.

Do you (or anyone else on here) have a rough idea of how muh a dr visit is? I can probably afford it but Im feeling cheap ( I know shouldn't be when it comes to health) and I have all sort of work I need to do on my car that will cost a lot since it's a BMW.

I would guess in the range of $75 to $250, but most likely on the low end of that scale if you visit a local family practitioner.

Also does anyone know how long before it becomes serious if it is a UTI? I would have
considered going earlier but it is hard to do since it is Saturday. Would waitig till monday be potentially dangerous?

Sorry for the medical questions. But yea any knowledge from you guys would be appreciated.

    It's okay I'm a nurse too!

It is difficult to say how long it takes to become a kidney infection. Right now, if it is indeed a UTI, it is most likely in your bladder.

Monday should be fine given that your symptoms do not become severe, i.e. pain, fatigue, nausea. Bacteria spreads rather quickly, so I suggest that you do not put it off any longer than Monday to avoid further discomfort.

In the meantime, be sure to drink plenty of water and acidic juices to hinder the spread of bacteria.

Don't drink cranberry juice with sugar in it Athena. This will make it worse. Drink plenty of water and use baking soda and echinacea like girlfromipanema said.

If your discomfort is enough to make question whether you have one, cranberry juice will do nothing for you. Cranberry can prevent UTI's by making hard for bacteria to attach to your urethral wall, but once the bacteria is there, the cranberry can't kill it. You need antibiotics for that. I get UTIs like 6 times a year. It's a pain in the ass, but a Dr.'s visit is around 40 or so, and maybe places have free antibiotic programs for the prescription.

They'll take a urine sample and test it for the type of bacteria it is, but I think Ciproflaxin is the best for knocking everything out. Be sure to eat some yogurt to restore natural flora (antibiotics kill everything, and you can expect stomach upset) and drink plenty of fluids to flush the bacteria out. It should knock it out in a few days.

I wastn sure if it was a uti or not because it didnt burn when i peed... everything i read said it should.

anyway, yesterday i followed the advice and drank a lot of (surgar free organic) cranberry juice, bought some echnacea, and some baking soda (nasty!). i also looked up some stuff on line and ate more blueberrys than i ever have in my life and took some uva ursi, horsetail, and garlic.

also i took some coconut butter, which i do anytime i get any sort of infection as it has lauric acid.

i was able to go out last night without having to piss every 20 min. and the pressure subsided.

now the pressure is gone, and i didnt wake up at all last night to go to the bathroom (which i have been doing).

so i dont know... maybe something cured it? Maybe it wasnt a UTI? I guess i will see how i feel monday...

CVS minute clinic. Less than 100 bucks. And you can fill the rx right there anyways.

OMG THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME LIKE 3-4 DAYS AGO AND LASTED FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND WENT AWAY. I was so freaked out and googled and found the UTI thing but it went away then so I don't think that was it. I talked to my sisters too (I called them bcuz I was so worried because I don't have health insurance right now) and they each told me that happens to them occasionally so not to worry. I had the major pressure in the lower ab area too and was so freakeddd out. I wouldn't worry- I would wait like 7 days and if it still persists- schedule a doctor's visit. UTI's are only a major concern if left untreated for awhile. So 7 days of waiting it out shouldn't do any harm.

I get them all the time. Like clock work. It's super annoying and incredibly irritating. I had taken the antibiotics before but when I can't afford them I just drink lots of water and pee everytime I feel it coming.

I get them every now and again. In fact, I noticed one was coming on this morning. I promptly took 2400 mg of cranberry(I take it in capsule form), and washed it down with 16 once of water. I'll repeat this process four more times today and repeat it tomorrow. It's already getting better. It should be completely gone by the day after tomorrow.

Sorry your sick. This used to happen to me alot too. I usualy need antibiotics to clear it up once one has gotten started. I have found that the longer I put off starting the antibiotics the easier it is to get the next one. So I explained to my Dr. that I travel alot for work and she was willing to give me an extra prescription of antibiotics to keep in my suitcase. This has made life alot better.
The best over the counter pain killer I have found for this is called "cystex" and works very well with out the neon orange effects like some of the others. As far as for prevention I never had much luck with cranberry juice and suplements but taking a Calcium Citrate suplement has been working well for me.
