Default HALP!! Huge scratches from an artificial pumice stone!!

In preparation for a spray tan I exfoliated all over with a new pumice stone. They didn't have any natural ones at the local CVS, just these bright colored artificial things, and it left these giant, looooong scratches all up and down my arms and legs and even on my boobs! I look like I got in a fight with a cat and lost!!

Anything I can do to help them heal? They look awful!! I just bought new lingerie and was planning on trying to take some pics wearing it...so the universe smote me as per usual when I go near a camera. My disaster streak strikes again!

I've never gone through that but I would think aloe vera...
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

I don't like pumice stones for this reason, they are way too rough! Next time maybe try those exfoliating gloves. I really like those to use before a spray tan.

As far as the healing, I think you're just going to have to wait it out. I'm sorry lady.

Yea, Aloe Vera might speed it up a little, but other than that, it's just wait it out

Do you have second skin over there? You can get it at the pharmacy and you paint it on to wounds? It works a treat.

Oh no, I'm sorry! I use these for rough areas like my feet and elbows, and occasionally my body... figuring out how to not chew up your skin with them is like a science! But the scratches from the stones are usually superficial, so they should definitely go away within 2 days. Keep the areas moisturized and use Neosporin.

You may decide to never use the stone again, but if you do here's how I do it: I put a lot of moisturizing body wash on the area I want to exfoliate, and move the pumice in small circular motions very lightly. VERY lightly. But I agree with J.D. that the exfoliating gloves are probably gentler and easier to use for the entire body.

Thanks for the advice ladies! I used some neosporin on them and then some liquid bandage on the worst ones and that seems to be working well.

I've got some gloves and a loofa mitt and I'll use one of those next time if I can't find a real pumice stone. I've used a natural stone, very lightly, for years. Never had any issues with scratching! Luckily, even though they looked bad, the scratches are healing up really well. I should be all good in another couple of days and able to use my tanner without any problem.

I learned a lesson at least: Go with natural stuff whenever possible!!
