Default Is this a permanent move?

I want to do this until I'm too old to do it. Sexuality is important to me and I think stripping is very empowering to women. I'm influenced by Camille Paglia's work and just what I've seen my whole life. Strippers are goddesses and there's a lot that I like about the work. So for me this isn't just a way to get through school or something.

Is this what you're doing with your life or is it just a means of getting through school/paying bills until you find something else?

definitely temporary. Just a means of getting by until I get accepted to school.

Have you actually started dancing yet? I can't quite tell from your other post whether you've just started or not yet. In answer to your other post, it is a huge mistake to plan your life around being a "career stripper" if you haven't actually experienced dancing yet. The reality might be far different from what you think or expect it to be. It's also a huge mistake to not keep other options open, especially if you haven't been dancing that long. The first 6 months to a year are kind of the "honeymoon phase"; it's difficult to tell how you'll feel about it years down the road.

I don't mean to sound negative or discourage you from dancing; I just want you to keep your options open while you do, in case you decide down the road that you have had enough and change your mind about wanting to do it for the long haul. Keep up your contacts outside the club world; keep doing things that are relevant to your degree (part time work, volunteering, etc) so that you always have options in life and don't get stuck doing something that may not always work for you.

I love it and I wish I could do it forever! I don't have to, but I want to. There is a jokein my club that someday I will on stage with my walker. Do what you love and fuck what the rest of the world thinks.

I want to have a career out of this. I intend to dance until J and I decide to have kids. Possibly even after. I'm a performer to my very core and I love this job.

I love it and plan to keep doing it until I'm either too old or start hating it. Using it as a way to travel the globe but also making sure I save enough to fall back on if I decide to do something else or go to uni.

While I think there are a percentage of women who can do it as a career, I would guess the majority do it as a means to something else. It's not a long career for most. This is why I strongly suggest getting other skills while dancing.

When I first started, I considered making it a career, even featuring. I even checked into getting into adult magazines and movies. After all, I figured, if I am doing it for school (the main reason I got in), why couldn't I make it a career? I realized for me a career wasn't a good idea. Sure, maybe I could have become a top feature but at what price? Did I really want to ruin a future career in another field because of this? Plus, there comes a time when one is too old to dance. We've all seen the dancers at the clubs who should have retired years ago but because they have no other skills they can't. Not everyone becomes a top feature and there was the possibility I'd be one who didn't. I know several smart dancers who saved their money and retired, but many probably don't. That's why for me I realized it was just a means to an end. There are times I regret not having been a feature (I did "feature" at a few local clubs, but not the same thing), but I'm glad that I don't have that baggage so to speak in my current life. I'd hate finding out any employers knew I was a dancer.

I've already been through college (danced through it), and I know that this is my long term career. I love what I do! In some ways it's very primal... which is one of the things that is so great about it.

I joke that I'll end up being like Barbara Streisand in that movie "Meet the Fockers". I'll dance until I get kicked off stage, then probably focus on teaching others.

I always say I'd never own a club, but I actually have a few ideas of my sleeve that could be huge, so I may do that as well.

I think you really need to dance for awhile before you make the decision to be a career stripper. I will probably strip on and off until I am too old to do so but there is no way in hell I could make a full time career out of it. It's too stressful and hard on my body and mind.

    What she said.

I fucking love my job, but I'm also going to school. I'll graduate with 2 degrees in Economics and Mathematics, as well as a French minor, this coming December. Because I love dancing, I plan to continue it on the side until I'm well into my 30s, or until it becomes impractical due to the demands of my "normal" career.

That being said, this job is just that– a job. For most of us, it is not meant to be a career. It most certainly is not "permanent". Some women are successful enough to make it a career until they retire in their 30s or 40s, but this seems to be the exception. (And I thoroughly admire women who choose this path.) Even these ladies, however, pursue other money-making activities on the side: financial investing and trading, sales, accumulating rental properties, continued education, other business ventures, etc. In my humble opinion, it is ESSENTIAL that we keep our options open and continue with at least semi-mainstream educational and professional achievements. We need to have skills, expertise, and accomplishments that we can either put on a resume, or that will allow us to achieve bigger and better things. I'm not going to want to be doing this when I'm 50. And very likely, neither are you.

I'd pay real money to watch that. VIP/ CR money.

I'm planning on doing this as my night job (or even days depending on how it goes) for as long as I possibly can. I'm also getting started in real estate (apartment locating, which is great in a college town), and while the RE industry is really bad now, I'm using it as a way to learn the trade during a down time. Then as my dancing earnings start to grow, I'll have a better idea of how to invest in real estate with what I make in the club.

i'm doing this/school/running my part time business till my it gets off the ground. one day it will be big enough to support me full time, but for now i'm good with stripping.

i think it's fun, i love the flexibility, and right now i'm having a good time. but, like almost every job, i'll get burned out on it eventually, and it will be time to move on.
