OP asked for opinions We get naked for a living. That takes balls, that your average girl from the street wont do for 20 bucks. So yeah, it's do-able...

Then again, I work at upscale clubs that cater to white collar men, so yeah... that kind of generous tipping is expected. If the dude held me there for an entire song, instead of letting me go to someone else....he should tip me! I guess it's regional/club thing too.

That's a pretty ridiculous comparison. Totally different industries and standards. I can't even begin to list the differences.

Actually, I could, but I'd charge for it.

    LOL.

Actually, I've been very generous over the years with those who strike my fancy. For those who don't....you can sit with me all day for all I care, but I don't owe you anything. I pay for the product...not a sucker who pays for the sales pitch.

I tip waitpersons, cab drivers, and bellhops. I don't tip professionals. I mean you buy a ticket to the play or a concert, but you don't tip the actors or the musicians. I don't tip my account, my therapist, my masseuse, my lawyer, my architect, my maid or my gardener. Granted she has to kick back some of her earnings to the house, but all businesses have expenses/overhead.

It's not like you're going to get better service if you leave a big tip nor do they feel slighted if you just pay for the dance.

I agree with Kylea that approx. $1 a minute for conversation is appropriate, but only over five or six minutes.

I think there's a mutual thing that happens after about five minutes... As a dancer, if a custie hasn't offered to buy a dance after 5 minutes, that's my signal to offer one up, or just move on. As a custie, it takes me about 5 minutes to decide (maybe 3 minutes) whether or not I actually like a girl enough to buy a dance. So if it's in that initial decision time, I don't think anything is really necessary. Conversely, if you keep a dancer from moving on to her next prospect where she could be booking dances, you need to pay her for her time. If she is forcing you to sit there and talk after you have already turned down a dance, I guess that's another situation, but if as a custie you've already turned her down for a dance and she's ready to move on, just let her go. If you want her to stay, cough it up.

I believe it is customarily expected, and polite, to tip a masseuse and a maid. I do, at least.

Anyhow, the OP has asked what an appopriate amount to tip a dancer is. If OP wants to tip, let her. I've had tons of custies tip me for sitting with them a bit, when they didn't want a dance. Did I ever expect it? No. Was I really happy to get it, absolutely.

You also aren't legally required to tip waitstaff, but most people do it. Why not?

If you occupy her time and keep her with you once you've decided not to buy a dance, you should feel obligated to tip.

At that point, hot makes no difference.
So the only reason a person doesn't get a lap dance ever is because the woman that asked him wasn't what the customer wanted? It couldn't be another reason and he or she still appreciates the dancer's conversation and hotness?

That's odd, several times guys have said they would rather just tip me (well) for my time than have me dance for them, but then went on and on about how much they liked me and want to take me out to dinner. Wonder why they did that if I wasn't what they wanted?

To many people the product is the conversation. I love those people.

And its not just like talking to a co-worker or friend. Many guys don't get to spend time intimately talking to hot women, because they suck or are married. And on top of that, the women aren't necessarily going to listen to the same story 5x in a night and laugh at it every time, like we will if he's paying.

Well you still didn't fall in the "no thank you" category then...all I mean is when a girl is completely unwanted (for dances or conv or dinner or anything), it makes no difference whether she's hot or not, and hotness doesn't merit more $$.

Luckily, I became enough of a club regular to often enjoy the company of beautiful women without paying for the time -- since it happened repeatedly with the same people, I just took it as a sign that I didn't, in fact, suck. The only rule I always folow is I always buy drinks or do stage tips for girls I talk to -- complete freeloading is not cool in the club.

I never tip a girl who just comes to talk with me. But, if I don't plan on getting a dance, I will tell her after a minute or two. Sometimes I will decide during that time if I want a dance from her.

It ain't right to talk for ten minutes, refuse a dance, and then not tip.
