Mildly off topic, but I was at an expo recently and saw Nina Hartley who is now 51 and looks fantastic. She was hilarious, stunning and incredibly intelligent. More power to strippers who aren't babies!!!

^^^ I adore her! I've met her a number of times and she always has nice things and words of encouragement.

I guess thats the issue is that all the younger girls r really taking over in the clubs. A club that I used to be considered a top dancer has now put me in the 30 to 40 category-- and where I live Ive heard other girls joking and calling me a "senior" dancer. Btw that girl looked a little like a man...I think she resents me bc even though shes a great pole dancer she can work with me and maybe make half if not a third of what I make bc I have a couple regulars who I love and who love me. I know some might say--Hey its the nature of the business--or dont worry about those younger girls they just dont know the business as well as you do. I think everyone at least notices how others view them or end up hearing what others say. Ive heard in bigger cities that older women r appreciated much more than where I live.
I am 52 and still going strong ,seems things are picking up, makeing as much as I ever did lately. after a long slump.keep myself young and I look younger than my real age. moisturing my whole body regularly.make up while in the club, not so heavy I look like a clown :-)) dress like a 25 year old and thankfullg good genes. I am a little more agressive and am the friendlyest girl in the club and I always bank in the top percent of dancers in the club .had boob jobs and a tummy tuck was going to have a face lift but the doc.told me I did not need it, so must be true why would he not make the money if he could ?so he was a honest doc.you got to like that, got a lot of regulars some who have been seeing me 20 years. so a lot of time its about more than sex looks, and money and a smile and a friendly approch makes every one seem younger.A sense of humour and a gigglely aditude helps to project a younger look as well.I think those are my secrets and to rtop it off I lie about my age I say I am on my mid forties.
small and cute

Good for you Asianlady! I'm glad you posted and it's comforting to know I may still have a possibility at dancing!
I think the secret is having condifance in yourself and to sell that confidance and to do your best to make your self the best you can be I have seen some pretty ugle ass dancers any age use your age and experiance .that is your edge.I can see myself dancing another 10 years at the rate I am ageing and my current look ,my avartar is a current pic of me ,I am proud of how I look for my age,to tell the truth I blossem under the attention and affection of men.I was a late bloomer, so got to make up for lost time :-) by the way I have been dancing 25 years I started lat at age 25-26 ish I hate thinking of the years I could have been dancing and didn't oh well water under the bridge
small and cute

^^^ Very inspirational!

Dear Fluffy Penguin, I am 52 although I am not currently dancing about 2 weeks ago I worked a an artists model. I danced pretty much between 24 and 46. I now find the problem that most local clubs in my area will not hire older dancers this frustrates me because I am capable of making the club as well as myself alot of money .I have known alot of the customers for years and often run into them and they all want to know where I am dancing at. If you take care of your self and change your costumes frequently I especially favor the feature girl look of sequin evening gowns with matching sequin pumps give your feet a break from 6 inch platforms ocassionally thru the night. If your legs are starting to show your age thigh high stay up stockings will camoflauge that. If your hair needs a boost glue in a few rows of human hair extensions you can have fum with highlights. Hair thats too blonde or too dark can be aging. Since you have been at the same club along time I recommend trying lots of different new music to keep your show fresh. If floor work is permitted where you work , a floor show on afur rug can also give your feet and knees abreak. Rest and relaxation and drink plenty of water you do not want to look tired. I am looking for the right opportunity to dance part time myself right now.You are not the only grandmother stripper out there over the years I have met many.Other options for you when you decide you do not want to dance anymore are you could become a house mom, I worked at a club that had female djays before,if you can sew you could make costumes also you could baby sit for other dancers they often have trouble finding someone for late shifts. Hopefully you will be able to extend your career and have a long and happy life in the industry. Francinista

That's amazing asianlady! The only problem I see in me continuing dancing for many years to come (besides sanity) is the physical aspect- my knees and back are already killing me all the time, and the most I work a week is 5 , 7 hr shifts, and haven't even been going at it a year yet!

Theres a girl thats been dancing at my club since she was 18..and she just celebrated her 50th birthday... this chick has more energy than most of the 21 year olds. I think it's all about who you are, and what you want... im starting to phase out of this buisness... I'm almost 35, and even tho i still look very young... mentally I know im changing. I am almost done with school, and got to live the lifestyle and loved every OTHER second of it... Dancing gave me what I wanted...a better life, and I was able to work my way thru school and still have fun, travel, get nice stuff, have perfect credit, and finally have a CAREER... i really dont think the age matters as much as the attitude. Some girls start dancing young... end up with a drug problem.. among other things... just take care of yourself... spend $$ to keep your appearance up, and leave all your baggage and negativity about being old, a grandma, ect at home and just have fun ...when its time to hang up the shoes... you'll know it.... i'm almost there and VERY ready to start my next adventure...lol.

Asianlady, I am with you I wish I would have started dancing when I was 18 ,its been an education in life, besides I really think if I would have started younger it would have kept me out of trouble and kept me from making alot of stupid mistakes. It teaches you alot about your self worth. If I only knew then what I know now. I would have made so much wiser decicisions.I really think that dancing is the best job in the world. Francinista

To Bambiblue, Love your name by the way. I wish you luck happiness and sucess in your future endeavors, but let me tell you it is not easy to leave stripping I was so in the habit of being able to buy whatever struck my fancy and having income coming in everyday, Its so difficult to adjust to a check once aweek of twice amonth. You kind of forget your not in your old situation and have to tell yoour self oh yeah I should not buy this or that. And its hard to change how you dress when your used to lookig sexy all the time.I still would not let my self go. But like where I work Iam one of the only women who wears makeup every day. I still doll my self up on days off for my boyfriend because he met me when Iwas dancing so I try to keep up that glamourous look even though its totally not neccesary where I work or I would not feel like my self. I always feel like I do not make enough money to do the things I use to take for granted so I am looking for a part time dancing job or something in a related field. Francinista

I know I am also afraid of living from paycheck to paycheck, but with the economy being what it is, and since I can only work 2 days a week because of school, I have already put myself on a budget already...but yeah I still splurge all the time...lol. I think the transition period has to start way BEFORE you actually quit... but whats REALLY going to be hard for me is working set hours...I have gotten so spoiled with being home with my kids. Its going to really suck to be away 40-60 hours a week...

This post is so motivational. I'd like to be a dancer for as long as I can too!

It sounds like the clubs in other areas are more open minded about hiring older dancers. Where I live they frown upon hiring girls even in their late 30s. They have this mind set that the customers prefer very young girls but older women can still be very sexy. Francinista

use firming moisturizer on your face, neck, stomach, butt, and boobs. that what my math teacher in high school taught me lol she's 50 but looks like she's in her 30s. she's been using anti wrinkle cream since she was 25 and she looks great!
