Default Beach-goers, what do you do?

Ok, weird question, but I live near the beach, right? And I LOVE the beach but hardly ever go because of one single thing - my partner doesn't like it (which isn't a problem - we're not joined at the hip), so I go by myself, BUT unless my partner is home when I get back AND I walk the 30 minutes to get there and back, I am way too paranoid to bring anything with me, such as my keys to get back inside my house, my phone, my wallet, my bus pass, and so on and on...

So I don't go. Or I GO, but don't go in the water for a swim.

How does anyone else do it?? Do you risk leaving your valuables on the sand and constantly try and look at them to make sure they're still there? At our beaches, we have a lot of high rise apartment and hotel buildings everywhere and criminals rent out a room up high, scout out people who have left their stuff unattended and then tell their partner down below on the beach when to go and get the unguarded stuff. Freaky. lol

Can you just bring your towel and keys and leave them with some nice people who are sunbathing? That is what I do.

I usually just leave my stuff on my towel but leave my towel within eyesight. I don't really swim. I just go in and splash around a bit and keep an eye on my stuff. All you really need is some change for a drink, your bus pass and your keys. Why would anyone steal any of that? They are looking for wallets with cash in them.

I just leave my stuff there, i don't bring anything important like a wallet. Stealing your keys would be pointless if they don't know where you live.

Bring a plastic bag and dig a hole under the towel.

Wear a lanyard around your neck with a spare house key on it, and a small resealble waterproof plastic pouch. You can put your bus card and a little money in that.

buy a waterproof pouch or plastic baggy, and pin it to your bathing suit in between your cleavage.

Kep the keys and $ on you like Bobby said. I'm glad to hear you're being careful. Damn freaks ruin it.

WHAT A GOOD IDEA re THE HOLE! I'm SO doing that!! lol.

It was easier when I lived 5 doors from the beach. I could walk there in seconds and also it was a more secluded beach…you could easily see your stuff from the water as long as the tide didn’t cause you to drift off to the side too far.

But now, although I can still walk to the beach, it’s a really hot, unpleasant walk, and it’s the last thing I feel like doing when I’m already overheated and bedraggled from being at the beach and covered in sand, etc, and also people often drive by as you walk over the bridge and throw eggs at you. It’s SUCH a nice experience, let me tell you! Lol. So I get the bus now, which only comes every 2 hours and is often late. So I sort of need my bus pass AND some money in case I can’t be bothered waiting ages for that bus, so I can get a cab instead.

The beach I live near now is HYPER crowded. It’s the most crowded beach and the most crime-ridden beach in my area. You cannot see ANYTHING from the water, as it’s just so crowded.

Basically I’m complaining about where I live. I miss my old area and beach. Lol.

    Again, LOVE the hole idea!!

i like the dig a hole idea.
i dont take anything with me, i leave my keys under my tire of my truck when i park at my crowded beach because it would reaally suck to lose those after im sticky and covered in salt water, and i hold my cell phone at all times. i dont really go anymore than knee deep in the water anyways...
