    Default Raw Food Trial

    I've decided to switch to raw foods to lose weight. Today is Day 1. I realize I probably didn't each enough day but that's what I had allotted for the day.

    Day 1
    3 apples (about 100 X 3) = 300
    3 bananas (about 175 X 3) = 525
    1 avocado (about 250) = 250
    1 plum (about 20) = 20
    2 tomatoes (about 65 X 2) = 130
    1 kiwi (about 90) = 90

    Total: 1315

    Wow I really didn't realize how many calories I ate today. No wonder I'm so fat. I've probably been consuming double that up until now.

    I feel full. I don't feel deprived at all. I was taken off the appetite increasing anti-depressant so maybe that's why I'm back to normal in terms of cravings.

    if you are on a raw food diet, keep in mind a lot of soy milk has been processed and the soy might not be raw.

    you can purchase raw almonds or raw pepitas (pumpkin seeds) or some other type of raw nut for protein. that is a place to start if you are trying to do the raw diet thing. there are plenty of other foods out there to eat raw with protein also, but those are some of the easiest sources...

    mmmhhhh, pumpkin seeds & sunflower seed. Anyone who has ever roomed with me knows my love of pumpkin seeds. If you are vegetarian the seeds are a key to getting enough protein.

    i used to do the raw thing but i love bread and cheese and butter way too much...as well as assorted junk foods.

    but, that being said...this is a great time for you to sample the wide world of sashimi!!! tuna, salmon, mackerel...all raw, all delish, all great sources of protein. also steak tartare. also any kind of nut is good for protein, but don't go overboard, there's also a lot of fats in them.

    also, if you happen to come across them, buy a bag of hulled hemp seeds (marijuana seeds). whole foods sells them, when they're hulled they're completely legal, and they are also the only seed ON EARTH that does not require soaking to activate the healthy enzymes. they taste kind of like almonds with a bit of a zingy herby or piney flavor. my friends are always weirded out cuz whenever they roll a j i pick out all the seeds and crack them open and start munching. lol i love them.

    You don't feel deprived because you are packed full of sugar. Try eating some green vegetables and protein. You won't last a week on that diet.

    Day 2

    2 apples (100 X 2 = 200)
    2 bananas (175 X 2 = 350)
    2 tomatoes (40 X 2 = 80)
    A few baby carrots (negligible)
    1 cucumber (about 40)
    A few grapes (negligible)
    1 tangerine (about 85)

    I know I ate more than this I just don't remember all of what I ate. I ate more than I ate on Day 1.

    Yes. An all fruit diet is extremely high in sugar. It may be natural sugar but it is still sugar. Fruit is not healthy if that is ALL you are eating.

    ROFLLLLLLLL!!! I was seriously just thinking the same thing and then I read this.

    P.S. I don't think eating ALL fruits is very healthy either. Vegetables and protein would be better choices. The food pyramid doesn't recommend eating like 10 servings of fruit per day (or however much that is you're consuming). Balance is key.

    You are misunderstanding the principles of the raw food diet, and what the raw system really is and what it represents. All you are doing is setting yourself up to increase your body fat ratio. Please do your research into what rawism really is before you destroy your metabolism and your body.

    I eat a high raw diet have been doing so since my last master cleanse, if you do it right you'll never feel deprived and look great too.

    It sounds like you're doing a quasi 80/10/10 diet, even on this eating regime you need to include 10% protein (which personally I think is too little).

    Here are soem tips and tutorials you might find useful.
    It's easier watching videos or attending a class when you start raw as it's a great way to learn.

    Unless you're making it yourself from whole soy beans, soy milk WILL have been highly processed.
    Try making some almond milk, or hemp milk yourself at the beginning of the week (lasts 5 days in the fridge) it's so easy and way better for you.

    You MUST listen to what the other girls are saying about leafy greens, if you're going to be raw you have to get protein and not from too many nuts as you're trying to lose weight.

    Try things like kale salad (soften the kale with oil and salt first).

    A green smoothie for breakfast is great. Think of it as a blended salad !
