Silicone is squishier, slightly heaver. Goes in full whereas saline goes in empty and is filled up when inside of you. Saline leaks a lot faster. Tons of threads on this if you need more info.![]()
silicone feels more natural... I was sold when I felt both implants. there is a HUGE difference.
I had my BA at 21 and got silicone. very happy with my decision.
One drawback with silicone is that you can only get up to 900ccs standard after that you have to get customs made (which cost alot)
I think there is even a legal limit to how much silicone you can have in the US.
So if you want to go bigger than that saline might be a better option.
I've been told silicone feels more realistic, but mine are saline and I've had people feel them and they couldnt tell they werent real. I think it all depends on the Dr...mine was AMAZING and prides himself on making them look and feel as natural as possible. If you want big fake looking boobs, he wont even do it. He'll send you out of his office.
Mine even fall to the side when I lie on my back like naturals do!

I don't have them yet...soon yipee! Anyway of those I felt silicone has felt more natural to me, but requires a much bigger scar since they are pre-filled. As someone else mentioned they are the cohesive gel ones nowadays so they don't leak the same way saline does; therefore, they cannot deflate. But from a health perspective you really shouldn't worry. Saline is perfectly fine as well. All implants actually have a silicone shell anyway, its just the fill that is different.
In Australia silicone cohesive gels have been the preferred type of implant for a while now. They've been used here for years. Most docs will say it is because they have a more natural look and feel; although I do know of one doc here I researched that feels that saline has a more natural feel, but he is the first I've heard say this. He also did most of his early years in the US so that may be the reason for his preference for saline.
If you have no reason to re-place yours now I wouldn't really worry about it.

I have heard this a lot but I wonder... I have saline, yet I have friends with silicone implants whose boobs are bigger on them than mine are on me and if anything, their surgical scars are smaller than mine. And they've all had multiple breast augs too. I guess it depends on the surgeon's skill?
I'll go for gummy bears if I was going to redo mine

Very true. I've seen some surgeons who say they specialize in "short scar" incisions. 1-2 cm. But can only do it with saline. All the docs I've researched on silicone say 4-5cm. My chest wall is so tiny it sounds to me like the scar will almost be the entire size of my current boob! haha. But I am not too worried. Just give me those boobies! haha I suppose some has to do with your own bodies healing. I have a few scars on my body that healed bad, but it is because I didn't take care of them. I ripped the stitches and didn't bother fixing it properly or let clothes rub on them etc. The ones I actually did watch (when I was older and actually cared) heeled well, so I am hoping for the later.

It's what YOU prefer and what you're after.
Silicone does feel more natural. I have saline and LOVE them bc I prefer mine to be a little firmer.
