    Default Avoiding breast reduction surgery?

I'm pretty busty and I have back pain. Someone said that maybe I should think about breast reduction surgery. I really don't want to do that. Is it possible to do exercises to avoid having to do surgery or is the problem that I have a pretty small frame?

I've heard that if you have a small frame you'll always have back problems if you're too busty. A guy friend insists that I can just lift weights and not have to do it. Of course since he's also a fwb I know he's a little biased so I don't know if I should trust his advice.

What's your body fat like? Even if you are small, if you have high body fat and little muscle (which some people call skinny fat) your boobs will be much larger than someone who is the same size but lean with less fat.

That's probably why your friend suggested lifting weights. If you build some muscle and lose some fat, you'll be the same size but you'll look tighter and the boobs will most likely shrink.

I was a large C cup and then I started lifting and eating right. I lost about 10 % body fat and my breasts are now a small B cup. I still wear the same size pants so I'm basically the same size just with less fat.

I'm 5'3", and my ( obviously implanted ) breasts weigh something like 8-9 pounds each ... but if I do upper body workouts to keep my back strong the weight doesn't bother my back.

I do back workouts and I still get some back pain or rather soreness after I've been up and about for about 7 hours. The back workouts do help me stand up straight though. I get my back pain specifically on the area where the back of my bra band is- I don't know if back workouts can target that specific area though.
When I get back pain I'll switch bras from a wide band Victoria's Secret bra to an even wider one from Walmart or sports bra then sometimes I'll rub Icy Hot on the area of my back that hurts which helps. I recently bought something called "Heat Wraps" in Walmart that's a band with 2 pockets in back that you can put little self heating packets in. (The same type of packets people use to keep their hands warm in cold weather.) Last night I wore the Heat Wraps for 2.5 hours under my bra and then my back pain was totally gone so I took it off! Try Icy Hot and Heat Wraps. Not sure if they're really long term solutions but they do help from time to time.
By the way, if anyone knows a back exercise that targets the area of the back that's on the bra band, please let me know.

I have huge boobs too, and I've wanted a reduction since I was 13 or so. I recently found out that instead of going through traditional reduction procedure, which is invasive and scary and leaves horrific scars, you can get lipo done on your boobs! Much, much less invasive, and they stay the same shape but get smaller and perkier.

Lifting weights or yoga are good too for helping to deal with the weight. I've had terrible posture since my early teen years from how heavy my boobs are but I recently started doing bikram yoga and I can stand up straight now.

It's good to hear there are alternatives to surgery. I know it's stupid but I think a lot of my identity is wrapped up in my boobs. I'd hate to lose them.

    Bravissimo. Seriously. Specifically, this video.

Once you're done fitting yourself (or have visited Intimacy or Creative Woman) pop over to BraStop, Bare Necessities or Figleaves for the same bras but cheaper.

My friend was wearing a 36DD, and wanted a reduction desperately. She got properly fitted at Creative Woman, and it turns out she's a 34H. Bit of a difference , and her back pain is gone. (She also now has a strapless bra that stays up and looks great.)

Remember, it's the band that provides all the support. Straps should NEVER dig into your shoulders. (One of my other friends was convinced she was a 34D. She's a 32DD--and guess who's much more comfortable now?)

I was wearing a 34DD, went to Creative Woman, and found out I was supposed to be wearing a 36E. Um, whoops? 27 pounds lighter (and counting! ), I went back to find out I'm now a 34DDD/34F. I look like I can fit into a 34DD, but the underwires poke into the sides of my boobs and the cups can barely contain me. The larger letters aren't that scary, I swear!

(Wow, leave it to a thread on bras to bring me out of hibernating lurkdom!)

Im 5'2 with a super tiny frame and have large implanted F cup boobs. The easiest way to avoid back and neck pain is a properly fitted bra(im sorry but victoria secret is shit for big boobs, go to a proper bra store and get fitted for proper supporting bras) a good properly fitted sports bra for working out and doing lots of pilates or yoga and a good back work out. You can easily avoid surgery and have awesome big boobs. Also you gotta sleep with a bra. Sleeping without a bra will help add to back pain.

Warning proper bras are not cheap but they are worth the investment. Mine are anywhere from $100 - $300 a piece but they fit perfectly, I don't even notice I have one on. My neck and back feel great, my boobs stay nice and perky and the bras last way longer then any victoria secret bra i've ever had. Once you have a proper fitted bra you'll never look back.
