Default legit jobs that use stripper skills

    Hi there,

I'm out of the stripping gig and wondering if the things I learned while stripping can help me perform in a regular job. Skills such as being able to read a person quickly, my ability to maintain attractiveness, sales technique, and endless others(please post more if you know this already). I wonder if I would make a good cop or undercover? I can blend into a room, I can standout. I can relate to all different kinds of people including the very wealthy and the very poor. I can get along with other nationalities and cultures. I am observant and pay attention to detail. I know the games people play with each other. I know all about addictions and adultery. I can see right threw men! Sorry guys but I can peg you pretty quickly.

I apologize if I come off crazy or stuck up or conceited. I'm just trying to use these skills for something else now that I can't strip anymore.

They've come in handy in my marketing career. Because I was able to learn how to market myself both as a dancer and as an agency owner, I was able to make money. I learned all about demographics and how to promote one self to that particular market.

Ya got street cred ya - but I would take a few marketing classes at the local college. You will learn the lingo and jargon. Without that, you will sound like a poser to the pro's outside the club business. It'll be a thousand dollars well spent. Ask yourself: Do you know what the marketing mix is? The four Ps? Do you know what B2B and B2C means? (Not trying to make you feel stupid - just letting you know pro's are going to expect this knowledge from someone versed in selling and marketing.)

Remember sales jobs are the same - but different.

Sometimes what works in the club will be a COMPLETE TURN OFF outside the club. (Happened to me once - I was like "What is going on here?" - confusion - when I then suspected ex-stripper shit - she lost the sale because manipulation isn't in the game - negotiating a deal good for everyone is.)

I would say become a Realtor, if you can swing it. It's a high pressure job, but there's big returns if you can handle the stress. You have to be able to read people and handle all sorts of strange situations and emotions (buying a house is an emotional process for most people). Realtor are expected to physically look good, approachable and reliable. You have to be able to talk up a property and talk down and imperfections. Like dancing, you'll have the ability to make your own schedule and work as much as you'd like.

Mind you, this would require going to school for 2 years or so....

You mentioned police work. I'm guessing you might be interested in it b/c it popped into your head? Maybe detective or private eye? Sometimes P.I.'s use outside people to help them.

Undercover work! Aren't the police always looking for people who are good at getting others to say certain things?

For better or worse, Deo has hit on a very important point re many dancers attempting to 'transplant' their inside the club sales skills to the 'straight' world. For a fact, many dancers typically rely on sales practices involving non-specific or implied promises of performance, 'bait and switch', 'failure to perform', selling a 'chain of services' with no real intention of ever supplying services farther down the chain, etc.

In a club environment, such sales practices often 'come with the territory' ... are somewhat expected by customers ... and are never prosecuted as 'deceptive business practices'. However, in the 'straight' business world, it's a very different story.

The best salespeople are those who can (appear to) act as an intermediary between their supplier/service and their potential customer. They are essentially liasons between the prospect and their employer, helping the person select among features/products/services available for their own personal needs, even helping that person determine their own needs and to an extent giving tips on how to get the most from the product/service. Unless repeat sales are unimportant, this is vital in becoming successful.

If you can genuinely do that, you have a good chance in the incredibly competitive sales career. If you don't, just skip the effort and do something suitable to you.

I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.
