    Question Newbie Make-up

Attachment 23567 I was messing around today trying to figure out just how much make-up is appropriate. I've never really worn a full face of make-up before and I prefer a natural look. So is this just right or not enough? Hints/Tips are greatly appreciated

I would go with a little more color on the eyes and lips. It tends to be dark inside clubs and a little more makeup makes your face stand out from stage.

I'm not much of a makeup wearer either in my everyday life either. I would say to wear it like that at first if that's how you're comfortable. You'll see how other girls do theirs, and you'll develop your own style with more practice. I finally started wearing heavier smokier eye makeup recently, and I'm 8 months in! I don't think guys really notice that much.....just do what makes you feel the most confident.

You know I love the natural look too, but sometimes a little make up could go a long way, and you are very pretty so I would just do some eyemakeup and some glossy lip gloss. You dont have to paste your face with all that makeup to make yourself gorgeous cause you already are so just highlight your best features!!

More makeup. In the club it's dark so you have to go more dramatic.

Darken your eyes a little bit-put on thicker eyeliner and fake lashes. You need more dramatic, "stage" makeup because of the lighting in the clubs. Otherwise it looks good, you're pretty enough that you don't need a ton of makeup!

Thanks for all the suggestions I'll try to come up with a look that isn't too theatrically tacky...I'd hate to look like a hot ass mess during an audition or on my first night

I like how you have it. I keep my makeup light... less to deal with through the night, especially if you start to sweat.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

What's the best make-up to use for that dramatic effect...(besides MAC), to perform on stage?
I'm almost considering buying "Stage" make-up but I think it might be too heavy.

Go with what you're comfortable with! Some guys like it natural, and some guys like it played up. Remember that it's dark, so you can go more extreme if you feel like it.

There are quite a few brands at Sephora I love, but the best cheap stuff is the Sally Girl line from Sally, IMO.

They have the glitter pots, the baked pressed colors, and like 50 other standard colors. All like a buck each.

OP, nice job for daytime, but the lighting at clubs tends to wash you out so it needs to be a bit more dramatic.

You are so pretty! Personally, I'd use some colored eyeshadow. Either dark or insanely bright. High pigment stuff works great! Maybe some lipliner and a little bit of lip-gloss? See if that works for you. Really though, the "Stripper look" isn't intended to be natural. But then again, a natural look may make you seem more approachable. Just depends on which way you look at it.

    Don't be afraid to experiment.

i get the most compliments when i wear thick eye liner (looks thinner in the dark club) and lip gloss, heavily applied, lots of blusher, i get compliments from guys sayin it looks natural, even though ive layered it on lol, the darkness of the club makes things less dramatic, i used to go for full on colour and glitter liner on my lids, but in the last 3 months opted for the "natural" look.

last saterday i wore bright green contacts with black thick liner on the lower lid, lots of mascara, and blood red lips, the guys loved it! best night ive had in a while (helped that it was busy lol)

just find your own style, i change mine alot when i get bored of the way i look, its all about how u feel sexy and confident.

I'm usually a very no/low makeup girl also, but in the club I do wear eyeliner only on the inner rim, mascara, bronzer and red lipstick. Guys love red lipstick especially if you have good teeth and nice smile, you're set. I don't wear glitter or eyeshadow because I don't feel sexy in it, and keep in mind what looks heavy to you in the dressing room or at home, looks like you have very little on in the club. Whatever you feel comfortable in, go for it! Any super glossy lips look awesome in low lighting though !

When I don't wear heavy makeup, guys guess me at 19-20. When I put on dark eyeliner and more dramatic makeup, they guess me at 24-25 :x So I go light makeup.

Now... I wear about the same amout you have on in that picture + lashes and lip gloss.

If you like light makeup... try it out. If you're making money with it... I don't see the need to cake on more.

See, though, the upside to wearing so much makeup is it kind of alters your facial appearance so people my not recognize you as readily- the people you don't want recognizing you, that is.

i just work out what i want to wear that night and then have a look theu my eye colours as i always always always wear pale sugar pink lipgloss, standard eye colour is white/champagne eyebrow highlighter and then black eyeshadow, black eyeliner and looootsa mascara. I have green eyes so sometimes ill wear really bright purple or deep green to make them look more colourful. Occasionally i go completly mad and wear brown eyeshadow and black eyeliner.
Lotsa pinky pink blush and black waterline.

It might look a bit overdone for wearing walking down the road but club lights will make it look a lot better, x

The type of make-up you get is really dependent on your skin tone. If you have darker skin, you may want to opt for paint pots or baked eyeshadow so that the color shows up well. They come in dark or vibrant colors so the combinations are endless. The sally girl baked eye shadows are $1 each and are good to start out with. If you feel like you want to go for more dramatic looks, then look into MAC cosmetics. But that can easily get expensive. A custom pallet from MAC is $170 for 15 colors. I am curious about the quick smoky eye kit I've been seeing commercials about though. I forget who makes it (maybe covergirl, l'oreal, revlon, almay?) but it looked like a fast and easy way to get the look. If anyone has tried it out, I'd love to hear about it.

I recently started dancing and I got the 120 color palette from bhcosmetics.com

It is inexpensive and you can do anything with the colors from a natural, neutral look to bold dramatic colors to a smoky eye. I haven't tried their blushes but the eyeshadows are very nicely pigmented, especially if you use a good eye primer underneath, and you can get good color just with a tap of your brush. Some of the colors I'll never use, but for $30 I'll just get a new one when the colors I love run out.

Honestly, the makeup in your OP looks so natural that I thought you weren't wearing any makeup. Whatever you think looks like a lot of makeup, it's really not in the club. If you want to go for a natural look for the club (which could work for you because you look naturally fresh faced and pretty) do one more good application for what you have already done. Like others have said, everythings different in the dark club.

I also like the way you have it, very pretty & very natural, but you could always add some color eyeshadow and lashes when you feel like changing it up. I think you could play with both looks.

I have the "young fresh face" look also, i only wear concealer, a little bronzer, eyeliner in water line only, and mascara-no eyeshadow or anything. But I do play up my lips and wear red iipstick with super shiny gloss, seems to go well
