    Default Problem with new DJ

Ok, we have 2 new djs and they have been at my club for a couple of months now but havnt bothered to learn how to use the stage lights. Its literally the same light show all day/night when they work. For my stage sets I like the yellow/bright lights/strobes. I have told them this, but when I go onstage they will be blue. Iv told them, ok..anything BUT blue, blue lights make all the girls look bad. I thought for a moment that maybe they dont like me for some reason, but they do this for all the girls really and all conversations with them are professional. Theres 2 other djs that work at my club and I pay them well above minimum tip out because they know how to work my lights.

I dont know what to say to these dj's because the lights are a problem for me. I dont want to fuck up and offend them, and then they fuck up my lights on purpose. Should I ask the other djs to show them how to do the lights? Should I say "I will tip out more if you do this for my lights" Whats the best way to go about this?

I would just give them the money upfront (if it's not wayy too much) and see if they actually do it. I would hand them the extra money before I went onstage and gently remind them that, "like you said before" you want yellow/bright lights/strobes. Just make sure this request and money are given at the same time and that you don't just give money and then make small talk, THEN mention that you want the specific lights. I do caution, though, that if they DO give you the lights after you tip them beforehand, don't be surprised if they ALWAYS expect to be tipped extra for the lights. (But it sounds like this isn't a prob bc you always tip out the other 2 djs extra for doing the lights.)

I don't know how the other DJs are at your club, but I don't really think that at most of the clubs I've worked at that they'd care to show the others. That sounds like a good idea, though, as long as the old DJs don't make the new ones feel stupid and as though you're being a bitch about the whole thing...maybe if you know one of the other DJs really well (personality-wise) and know he wouldn't make you out to be a demanding person...if shifts overlap, you could suggest to the new DJ that the old one show him how to do your lights (after checking to see if they old one has time, too).

Damn I wish I had this problem. Or the option to choose what lighting color I want for my stage set. I agree that blue lighting makes girls look BAD, and guess what, lo and behold my entire club is BLUE! EEEEEK! I gotta deal with it though.

My whole club is black lights; ugh. I hate it. I wish it was red lights. I get bruises easily, and the red lights make them disappear on stage/ In the club.
