Duh You know that little voice in the back of your head?

It's Saturday night. My club is expecting a huge crowd and there's a feature and not a lot of girls working so the money making potential is huge. But I don't have a good feeling. Not like, "Blah, I don't feel like working tonight," but just this feeling that something bad is going to happen.

I could finally break $1000 tonight and I could definitely use the money, but that feeling is scaring me. What should I do?

I would go in... if nothing happened and you missed out on major money making you would be kicking yourself in the ass. I say go and make some money!! That way you wont be going 'what if?'

I'd pay attention to your intuition. It's a powerful asset, but most of us have been conditioned to ignore it bc we don't have any tangible evidence that something bad is going to happen, so we try to tell ourselves 'don't be silly' and blow off the gut instinct. Big mistake, IMHO.

If in doubt, remember the money will always be there on other nights. If you're really having a strong negative 'warning' feeling, listen to it. Better to regret not making money tonight (especially when you know you'll make some the next time you go in) than to regret not listening to your instinct if something bad went down tonight and you got caught up in it.

I kinda had a similar post the other day. I didn't listen to the "signs" that were telling me not to do something, and I was fine (at least to my knowledge).

Ask yourself if you can pinpoint the feeling...are you sure it's not anxiety, are you sure that it's not bc you really don't want to work bc you'd rather be doing something else, do you not even really care about the money bc it's not top priority (I know $1000 is nice, but for some, the money isn't enough motivation). Did something odd/bad happen the last time that you worked? Have you been reading other threads about bad stuff happening at clubs?

^These are all questions to keep in mind...

Typically, I do tell people to pay attention to their gut feelings, though...even though I, at times, don't listen to my own advice .

Which is more important to you. Money or peace of mind? Who doesn't need money or peace of mind. You're call.

Have you had anxiety about anything lately?

Usually I'm 100% for intuition, but here it doesn't sound like that. It sounds like general anxiety. If you can't pick out a solid reason (or lots of mini reasons) for your bad feelings, then I think you should go in. Maybe you're 'afraid' that you have the chance to make that much money? That can cause a lot of pressure/anxiety (in a positive OR negative way).

Depends. This one is tough. I always wind up going because I always want the money more. However, the few times I've actually had the kinda feeling you're talking about and I've ignored it and gone anyway, I've always regretted it because the intuition was right. But girl... who couldn't use a grand right now. I'd be going...

Why not compromise? Go in but be careful in what you do. Maybe don't drink if you normally drink or keep an eye on who comes into the club. If you stay alert, you should be fine. And that will build confidence for you the next time this feeling comes up.

^^^^^Lol, the moon won't be full until Wednesday.

I had a bad feeling about both weekend nights, and wish I hadn't gone in. It was drama central in there.

I'd say listen to your gut...I kept getting sick at one of the clubs I was working at..thought it might just be me but I saw the bouncer last night and the club said they just lost a bunch of girls cuz everyone keeps getting sick there.

And..I just had a weird feeling about vice..the girls there had warned me they get popped frequently. Sure as shit, I left and went back to my other club (almost regrettably because I was making bank there) and they got raided a few days later.

So if you aren't feeling right about something don't do it. It's not worth the money, really

it sounds like that bad feeling is really just nervousness. kind of like you are taking a big test or something... you are showing up to a club that you know will have a lot of earning potential and there is a lot of pressure on you to live up to that potential. I sometimes get this feeling before big events... its not that i feel something ominous is coming, i just know it is going to be high stakes. There is more pressure because if the club is packed and you have a bad night, you know it will be much worse and harder to justify than if it is slow and you have a bad night.

i would go in. it is probably just performance anxiety. im sure after you make your first sale you will settle in and bank!
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

Go in, bank and make some moolah and come back and tell us all about it.

Agreed! Been there done that. I let that voice get the better of me. I chickened out and didn't work. After that particular weekend when I went back to work I heard how fantastic it was. My lesson learned? For me to go in on a possibly big money making night/weekend regardless what that voice inside of me says.

When I worked in a club with features ( and amateur nights), those were always the nights I wished I hadn't gone in. The guys usually hold on to their money for the main attraction, especially if it is a well-known feature. Stage tips for the house dancers might be a bit higher than average, but the guys were hesitant to get too many dances in a row in case they miss out on the headliner.

If I were in your position, though, and felt like I *might* make a lot of money, I'd go in earlier than normal and pace the night and see how things are going well in advance of the feature's show times. If I was happy with that I had made before then, I'd be more likely to stay and see how things go and not worry.

If I felt like the entire energy of the club seemed to lean towards everyone holding out and no real momentum for "me" earning money, I'd take my meager earnings and head out. Or see if I could come back after the feature's shows were done. In my club, if you work 4 or so hours, you can take a break and come back later in the evening without having to pay a second house fee. That's just based on my own experience, though. Good luck!

I would never ignore that gut feeling.. You said there is "money making potential" .... That means you are not garanteed(sp) to make a lot. Intuition is not to be ignored. Ask yourself, if you felt this way about an event that was no work related would you still go? I'd the answer is no, don't do it. Sometimes as strippers we place money above everything and sometimes you just have to remember that there are some things that are worth more than any amount of money. Peace of mind is one of them

this was always the case for me too. i'd avoid those nights like the plague, but then i accidentally went in on a feature night i'd forgotten about and we had a nestle representative come in, we really clicked on the subject of candy...turns out he had a HUGE BOX of it in his car...he brought me a whole case of nerds rope, as well as some big sour candy pacifiers, and the chewy sweet-tart things. he only bought 3 dances, and i just BARELY walked out with $80 that night, but he did buy me A LOT of drinks, and we just kept giggling and drinking and eating candy

Update: I had a horrible feeling yesterday about today. I tried to shake it off, but I just couldn't. Then I got the call that the owner(a drug addict who will search your bag and steal from you) is running the club again. I fucking hate this guy. He doesn't know it yet, but I quit. I called a bigger club that I'm still on contract with and got put on the schedule for tomorrow. Now I'm just nervous because I need $$$. At least I don't have the horrible feeling that my safety is in danger. I tues he took over last night. I have heard NOTHING good about last night from my coworkers.

I agree 100% on this one. I wouldn't be able to turn my back on the earning potential. Just keep your eyes open and don't drink too much. Worst case, if your intuition is right, tell the boss you're sick and need to leave before you start throwing up on the customers.
