depends on where you are. im in nashville , which is very strict (nude on stage with a three foot law, and no touching during dances) i am happy with 200 a day because...
    1. i used to make 300 a week working 40 hours at a job where i was standing between 8 and 12 hours, and got treated like crap, and now i work 3 days a week.
    2. i work whenever i feel like it
3 if a customer makes me mad i can walk away, what normal job allows that?

That's what I was trying to say, although you said it better. All I have to do for my $200-ish is twirl around on stage 4-5 times a night, in pasties and a thong. I don't have to do lapdances (they're optional; some girls do them and some don't), and I don't have to hustle. So yeah, it's worth it to me.

Now if I wasn't able to work at either my club or the other stage club in the area, I'd quit bc no amount of money could make me feel OK with doing lapdances or make me put up with having to hustle and do sales-type stuff. Everyone is different.

well here in toronto thats still better than min wage ,but I always figured that as a dancer min wage for that is not enough. I always do better than that each week, but its a real struggle some weeks for sure ,but lately things have been picking up again hope it sticks. hopefully the greeks don't suck us down again.

Toronto is also mega high mileage and hasn't been hit as hard by the recession as most places in the US.

Even two years ago when I was in Toronto I still expected at least $1000 a week doing 7 hour shifts 4 shifts a week. And that was fighting off the grabbing hands and not letting guys touch me. So I was fighting against the odds.

So yes somewhere like Toronto I would expect a lot more then $600 a week but thats because of the bull shit you have to put up with.

not all 'normal jobs' are customer-facing low-pay retail. in fact, most aren't. which is why 600/wk, not minus taxes even is completely not worth it. after tax, it's practically what unemployment pays.

but hey, enough girls continue to be happy with pennies, maybe fewer girls will rush to do the work and then the ones left will be back to making zero contact 500+/shift money every shift again.

i guess living in portland i might have diff standards, but I average $200/shift (4-7 hour shifts) and consider that pretty good.

of course here it is no contact and living is pretty cheap, its also near impossible to get a normal job, so making $600/wk working 3 nights a week sounds pretty good to me.

I am jealous of SW-ers who apparently make much more than that. Ive been dancing for 2 years and my best night is $470. Where is all this money hiding?

I just wanted to add to this that a full time job at 40 hours a week being paid $20 an hour comes to $800 BEFORE taxes. now deduct taxes in AZ your pay would be $618.13. I also believe you would be dealing with just as much stress if not MORE having a regular job. And you wouldn't have the opportunity to make more or to move up quickly.

Dancing and having no job on the books also makes you eligible for Medicaid. So to me no matter how you look at it $600 a week is worth it. You can still have insurance and you have an unlimited opportunity to make more money and to progress.

that's the catch22 of it. IMHO from what ive seen or heard, alot of girls get into stripping BECUZ theyre broke, poor, working a min wage retail or service job. but becuz the only type of job they know is the retail kind of job that treats them like shit and barely pays anything, they see even the 'bad' $$ nights working at the stripclub to still be comparitively better, so thats why they continue to be 'happy making pennies'. to someone who makes $7/hr which translates to $200/wk if theyre lucky enough to even be able to GET close to fulltime hrs at a retail job (most purposely keep people @parttime), yes even $100/nite sounds like heaven to them. its really sad actually.

stealing from others who are actually poor is seriously uncool. and that's what working in cash while raking in welfare benefits is.

Or you can pay your taxes and buy health insurance. I know a lot of girls who do this with medicaid an welfare and i dont think its fair to those of us who pay taxes dancing.

i work in idaho which seems like the suckiest state of all. and even though i work there i would STILL not even THINK about working for $600 a week - that is unimaginable to me. When the economy was good I was making $350 - $800 a day. Just because the economy is bad doesn't mean that you have to lower your standards THAT MUCH.

As a general rule of thumb, if you aren't making $200-$300 AVERAGE a shift now (it would obviouslly be $300-$500 a shift when the economy gets better, and that's a low number) then you aren't cut out for stripping. Don't spoil it for the rest of the hustlers by choosing to stay in a job where you are getting naked for pennies. However, if you are new, I'll say give it 3-8 months, and if you are still going home with less than $200 a day, then sorry, this job is simply not for you.

yes it is very very sad

and that is what is ruining our industry (among other things): girls that are willing to settle for less.

flame me if you will but if you are HAPPY to go home with less than $200 i want to give you a big THANK YOU for cheaping all of us and the services we provide. go on ahead and do that until this industry is completely worthless and we are all going home with $50 a night h

LOL, YES! $600 a week is chump change and I don't care what state you work in, you need to find another line of work because you are fucking up the money for the rest of us by driving down the expectations, etc.

P.S. I just worked three and a half weeks and made net 12K, after all bills, food, rent, etc. It can be done, and is done often, so stop whining and figure out what you're doing wrong. Because yes, it IS you, not the industry or the economy. You're just not trying hard enough.

Charlie, I go through phases where I work nonstop for a few weeks, then I work really hard at my day job for the following weeks, during which I don't drink or go out AT ALL. That way, I achieve balance and always stay fresh.

I agree too much discount dancing going on hurts us all we taking off out cloths for a iving and dancing we should ne making more than 500 a week I never happy with small dollers use to be in the 80's I could do a 1000 a day easy not its like pulling teeth to get that.sure I am older but times are tougher too and any discounting is just one more thing to worry about.

That is intensely impressive. Maybe I need to do that. When I start to burn out, I work less...but maybe it'd be better for me if I worked more consecutive days and then just took longer breaks in between? Are you that way?

That's what works for me. I will work every day, long shifts, for a set period of time until I am exhausted, then take a long break, I seem to make more money when I do this and it's not as emotionally/mentally taxing. Also, during my off time I work on other business ventures, as well as work out hard and just rest and take care of ME. I find it to be much more difficult, in every aspect, stripping full time at 50% effort, rather than going 100% for a short period of time then taking a break. I also take strip trips all the time.

This makes a lot of sense to me. It's very mentally jarring for me to go to school for 2 weeks and then try to work even one night. It's a totally different world. I think I'm going to try your method over summer break!

I've never even tried working 2 nights in a row. I've worked alternate days, but that only seems to make it worse.

^^^I agree with JD. For me, the less I work the less I want to go in(so working a few days a week doesn't work well with me), and when I'm working all.the.time. it doesn't really exhaust or frustrate me because it becomes like clockwork, almost robotic, to where I don't even think about or mind how much I'm working because I just do it. Then when you take a COMPLETE break for yourself it is a successful recharging, when you don't go in at all you will truly miss work.

I never understood how girls could work 5-7 days a week. Maybe that's the secret to it.

I really don't understand this, as every girl in the club cannot be a top earner. That would be why they are called top earners. This would be like saying everyone could be a millionaire or a doctor. Not every dancer can be a top earner. Some don't have the sales skills, or looks, or both. Depending on the location/club, 600 a week can be anywhere from marginal to fucking terrible. I wouldn't think this would be good unless the dancer is only working 1 or 2 days a week tops, or if she is at a stage only club or something. These girls aren't ruining the industry and if every girl in the club was a super hustler you may find your earnings going down. At my club you don't have to do that many dances to make $150-$200 a night, especially if you get decent tips. 10 dances all night is hardly work, and is nowhere near the amount of work you would have to do at a 'straight' job.

As long as the girls aren't undercutting the dances, doing extras, or sitting with customers for eternity, how is it any difference to you? If anything these lazy dancers, and unfortunate ones who lack the skills or looks or both to do it right are helping me. There are plenty of "bottom feeders" who do extras, as well as top earners who do extras. Some dancers would rather leave with minimal money because they just don't care to hustle and expect the money to just fall into their lap. I don't understand the ruining the industry nonsense. Yeah if they are undercutting thats one thing. If they just lack the skills to get a customer to buy thats another.

I think you should always try to make the most money possible, but if my club got rid of these kinds of dancers, most of the club would be empty, and housefees would likely skyrocket. Now the ones who are leaving in the negative all the time or $50 bucks and under.........I do wonder why they don't work at Burger King. Usually those girls do not hustle at all and are also very unfortunate looking. I do know some hot girls who make shit too, because they don't do anything but walk around and occassionally 'wannadance.' Even very unattractive but friendly dancers seem to make SOME money, its the ones who don't have a clue how to approach customers, or refuse to bear down and hustle. Are they selling themselves short? Yes. Are they ruining the industry? No.

I am not advocating that anyone strip for peanuts, but its unfair and extremely judgemental for you to say they are ruining the industry. Ever occur to you that girls who are comfortable making 2-300 dollars a shift *GASP* feel comfortable earning that much and find hustling to be mentally draining so they would rather have less money and a more peaceful mind. If they are not undercutting, what is the big deal really? Are you working at clubs that cut off the dancer amounts or something? Nobody is ever told they can't work at my club, no matter how many girls are working, but maybe its different where you're at.

OMG, A STRIPPER WOULD ONLY BE COMFORTABLE EARNING 3-4X'S AS MUCH AS SHE WOULD EARN WORKING A STRAIGHT JOB!! SHE'S NOT TRYING HARD ENOUGH!!! SOMEBODY CALL THE WAHBULANCE CUZ SHE'S RUINING THE INDUSTRY!
