Semi-serious. The only places I have ever lived in my entire life have been New Jersey and now southern California. People always ask me how I deal with Cali being so expensive and all but coming from NJ I really don't notice much of a difference, it's what I'm used to.
Lately I have been looking at the costs of living in other states and it makes me so sick! Right now I live in a studio apartment right by the ocean and I pay $850/month. If I were to go more inland I could get a studio for around $800-$650. But when I go on Craigslist and look at studios in Kansas(I just use Kansas as my general example) they are in the $300s-$400s!. And a lot of them are furnished and you don't pay the utilities! And they allow pets!!
I dunno. My sister is relocating to the midwest from NJ because the cost of living is so much less, she'll be able to have more for her family. I used to feel like I was tied down to SoCal because of my peepshow job, but A) I'm sure there are some somewhere in the midwest, and B) I now make better $$$ camming and I can do that from anywhere. A relationship held me here too but it's not really going anywhere...except maybe down the toilet. Also next year I was planning on doing a major stripping trip throughout the midwest...what if I just moved there?
I love SoCal, I love the ocean, I love the weather...but I hate to say it, wherever you live it seems like a matter of time till you kinda get used to things. I live right by the ocean and except for the summer season, I never take advantage of it. If I hated the midwest I could always move back too.
Say I got a studio for $350 somewhere, that alone is saving 6grand a year. I dunno. I just know that making the kind of money that I do, if I lived somewhere cheaper I could be pocketing even more of it and I don't seem to have too many justifications for staying here.
