15 minutes tops to sit with him unless he is paying you reasonably to hang out. I usually stick to the rule of 3 songs, then move on. Three songs is about 9 to 12 minutes.

If he's not buying you can say "well, I need to get back to work. I'll come check with you a bit later."
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

I do this as well. If it is super slow, I will sit a little longer, but never more than 5 songs.

yep - i usually do 3 songs, too.

if he's not going to buy a dance, i tell him that i need to sell lapdances, but thanks for the drink and breather. i tell him to lemme know if he changes his mind, though.

If he buys a drink, 2-5 songs, depending on how busy the room is, how 'good' the other prospects are, and how the conversation is going. You really have to evaluate the room to make a reasonable conclusion. Clearly if he is the only available customer in the room, you may want to sit for 5 songs. If he genuinely seems interested and the room is very slow, then sitting with a customer for a bit longer can really earn his trust which means you can earn his wallet or turn an 'on the fence' or uninterested customer into interested. If a custy doesn't by a drink then I sit for 1-3 songs MAX, even if the room is dead. Just don't sit too long with anyone! Sitting too long will give you the opposite effect. You want to seem busy and he needs to know that he has to pay for your time. Even if the room is dead don't sit with a customer unless he is paying you. Girls that sit with customers forever make it difficult for everyone to make money.
