    Default Sad.

I Wish there was something I could do to make this world a better place. There are so many people starving out there, and people who freeze to death because they don't have a home,Women with babies who live out on the streets. I realize that I really have nothing to complain about. I have a wonderful life. I have a wonderful man, food in my tummy,a beautiful son,a roof over my head, and a wonderful family.
I just feel like I have a purpose, like I should be helping people..
Does anyone else feel the same itch?
Our beautiful planet is being destroyed, yet there isn't anything I can do about it. It's like watching someone steal from you,but you can't say anything. It makes me angry.
    I is a mommy.

There are all sorts of ways to help either financially (http://www.charitynavigator.org/) or physically such as building homes, helping at shelters etc.

This is going to sound terrible, but I took in a homeless person once. It was a bad experience and I'll never do it again.

Most of my office jobs though have been for non-profits, which is a really good feeling especially if you get to work 1 on 1 with people.

Well I would never take in a homeless person,That doesn't seem safe to me. Most of them are homeless for a reason, and a lot of them probably need mental help as well.
But Im gona do something Itll make me feel good about my self.

Since you mentioned the homeless people I figured I should mention/enforce that it's not a good idea. It didn't go really bad, probably because I was pretty experienced with homeless people at that point, but it's something I'll never repeat.

there are people who cannot survive on their own for one reason or another but there are plenty more who just dont want to work

with that being said there are plenty of charities you could donate to if you want however before donating you might want to see if you can get their financial records

non profit charities have to spend all the money they receive but they also pay operating expenses out of the donations and operational expenses can cover a very broad range of things

^^^ That's why I love Charity Navigator. Since I've worked for so many non-profits I know that sometimes the money isn't really being spent appropriately... for example presidents who are making hundreds of thousands of dollars at a non-profit is ridiculous. Charity Navigator let's you really look at all those details and decide which charities your money will be most effective at.

As a matter of fact, I'm going to go edit my website right now and add Kiva to the links.

Kiva.org is a wonderful site and I recommend that to you also.

Also look into volunteering your community. The easiest way to help someone very directly and feel the outcome. Very personal experience depending on how you volunteer your time.

Buy a little bit of extra food at the grocery store and donate it to your food bank.

Give old clothing, toys, and supplies to woman/child shelters and homeless shelters.

i was going to suggest kiva as well.
also the big brother/sister program, though that takes A LOT of work. like, A LOT.
if you just want to do some checkwriting, there are lots of women's non-profits that need funding.

If you can try volunteering sometime. Even once a month is helpful and will make you feel good.

I try to donate to my local food bank, women's and children's programs or to politicians that I feel will make a difference.
