    Hey Guys,

I know that Mac is like the top of the line makeup, but I just cant seem to bring myself to spending that much on one little thing of makeup, 16 dollars for one shade of eyeshadow is way too much!!

Anyways, I saw some makeup online and was wondering if any of you guys have used it.

    Shany Makeup
    Coastal Scents MAkeup

    THANKS.

    For eyeshadows, try http://www.bhcosmetics.com/ - otherwise I can't talk, I'm a total MAC girlie.

I'm in the same boat...refuse to spend a lot on makeup (I do modeling now and im still cheap, lol).

has anyone here used this site? http://www.bf-beauty.com/en/index_home.html

A friend of mine was at a photography workshop the other day and said he heard a lot of the models talking about the site, but i have never heard of it.

just a thought... only cause I am a mac junkie... when buying makeup don't forget it goes on your skin... make sure you still get quality. I only use mac for that reason. I don't mind cheap shoes, cheap work dresses, but if its going on my face/skin I want the good stuff. And its double the price here... yep $30 for an eyeshadow.

    I love my MAC.
Some of it is counterfeit! Especially if it comes from China.

    I love urban decay also.
The deluxe shadow box has 9 shadows for $36 bucks. I love MAC also.

But I do agree you put that on your face.

I also like Milani, LA Colors, and Covergirl if you wanna save money.

Oh that reminds me - if you model, get a MAC pro account. DISCOUNT! Also, you can buy palettes and put the pans in yourself from their pro site.

I personally LOVE urband decay. I also really like Lancome-they have some beautiful colors. But for cheap stuff, Loreal and Covergirl.

I'm a MAC and Bare Minerals junkie myself. For eyeshadows, I recently found out I FAAAR prefer Bare Minerals. More intense color payoff and no creasing or fading even WITHOUT eyeshadow primer. I'm in love!! <3

I didn't even know they had eye shadows. Well, I'll be dropping some bank at Bare Minerals next week.

Anyways, I like MAC because their products are wonderful and they help you and what they're talking about. I cannot pick my own colors well at all!

I'm sorry MAC is not top of the line make up.

I get most of my make up from Sally's or the drugstore.

When it comes to concealers I'll hit the MAC counter as I only use the cheap stuff for work.

I like the high pigmentation of MAC but overall I must say I'm a Lancome freak. MAC is half the price of Lancome though and still awesome quality.

Although lately I've also been getting into Urban Decay...

Xsparkage on youtube is a fan of Coastal Scents makeup. I believe she has a tutorial about their contouring pallet.

I absolutely LOVE the Coastal Scents 88 shimmer and 88 matte (even though they're not all, technically, matte) palettes! They're well worth the money spent for the amount of colors that you get, and the colors are highly pigmented. You can do some searches on Youtube for tutorials using the CS palettes, as well as reviews. I haven't tried their other makeup, but I heard their pigments, concealers, and foundations were good. I haven't heard anything good about their lipglosses, though. Oh yeah, I heard their brushes were good, too.

I've never heard of Shana makeup.

Other cheap makeup that I like/gets good reviews are: NYX (even though not all of their stuff is that cheap) and Elf (even though some of their shadows are more pigmented than others). I also like NYC color and use Wet n Wild for lipliner. I love my Jordana lipliner, too - creamy, easy to apply, long lasting, comparable to MAC's lipliner.

If you want to find cheaper makeup that's comparable to more high-end stuff, you can do some searches on youtube or for blogs for makeup "dupes." (I think that's how you spell it). Some stuff, though, you just can't substitute for the more pricey item.

God, MAC makes me break out soooo bad....

I get my cover-up/foundation from Aveda-forgot to mention that before. I don't break out at all from their stuff, and it smells good, and stays on FOREVER. Even when I get done running 3 miles, it is still on! Amazing

^It's like the only thing that doesn't make me break out. What the shit. Same goes for shower products - all mine smell synthetic and chemically. Anything by Simple etc makes my skin peel. o_O My skin is such a jerk.

What I don't think people realize when they say MAC is too expensive is that the product lasts a LOT longer than cheap products because the quality is better. You use less product for the same effect you get with twice the amount of cheap product.

For example, I have several MAC eyeshadows. Yep, $17 a pop.....however one MAC eyeshadow lasts me at least 6 months with heavy use, and over a year with light use. And some I have kept around for over a year have not broken down or lost quality. When you consider that part, it's worth it.

And BTW, MAC isn't really really high end. It's like midline.

Ugh. Seriously, MAC is like slightly above average drugstore. It was awesome like 10 years ago when the franks owned it and then lauder bought it and turned it into well marketed crap.

This comes from me working in retail for like 7 years and my best friend is a pro makeup artist in NY. She's done a zillion celebrities (victoria's secret, etc) and refuses to use it for many many reasons.

Make Up For Ever is awesome, so is Stila, NARS, tarte, Shu Uemure and Laura mercier. For cheaper stuff, Milani, NYX, even some l'oreal products are amazing. I just got the Coastal scents pallettes and I'm pretty impressed. like $35 for 120 colors? heck yes my friend. Some of the pigments don't last too long but a good primer makes a difference.

I could go on and on about this but I gotta run.

I like Bare Minerals for coverage and Urban Decay for color.

I would recommend going to a cosmetics counter (Department Store, Ulta, Sephora, etc..) and trying different brands to figure out what works best for you. I wouldn't spend money on product without knowing if it is going to work for me. Usually, the employees are very helpful.
