I swear there is no better feeling than the general optimistically happy feeling I get post cardio workout.Running > slight cool down/ stretch > cardio dance boogie. Greeeaaaaat stress buster, I swear.
What do you guys do for exercise and such?
Horseback riding. Great workout + boosts of adrenaline!
Last summer I was into P90X. The post-workout highs were great from that as well.

I interval train on the cross trainer for 40 mins and burn roughly 700 cals during that time which feels amazing. then i walk it off on an incline (relatively hard still) for ten minutes.
i am completely addicted to working out. i love cardio. the sweatier i get the better i feel for some strange reason.

He should give it a try! But let him know that if he isn't in reasonably good shape to begin with, he'll probably only get through like 1/4 of a workout at a time.
Haha, it's true. My husband isn't really into working out, so he'd always laugh and be slightly disgusted by me saying, "I almost puked during that workout, it was awesome!!!"Originally Posted by stripperchic

Sorry couldn't resist. Love that movie. Hehe.

Different people have different proportions of the two kinds of muscle cells. There's 'lean' cells and there's 'thick' muscle cells. I don't know a lot about it, but they are good for different things. But there is also the inner will, which has a great deal to do with physical strength and athletic ability.
I do know that if you think you can lift a certain amount of weight, odds are much better that you will then do it. This is another reason (besides the differing ratios of muscle cell types) why you will so often see guys with less bulk lifting more weight--like your brother.
After going 8-10 three minute rounds, 30 second breaks, with weighted gloves, I am usually in a very euphoric state of mind. I really like doing that before work, it makes dealing with the stress of working in a busy club much easier. But there isn't always time, and I don't like doing it every day as it is a lot of heavy shock to the joints.

Completely agree with you Mindy! Exercise- inducing sweat is one of the only things that makes me feel better...especially in the sunshine!
Have you already seen Zuzana's workouts on http://www.BodyRock.tv or her youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/charliejames1975 ? They are excellent high intensity strength exercise, and they are really challenging for me! Right now, I am focusing on using my body weight to build up strength.
Pole dancing would be great exercise to practice at home. I love to dance!
I keep hearing about this post work out high, i wish it worked for me. I've never NOT felt like complete shit after working out. I still do it because fat people scare me but i certainly don't enjoy it or ever feel good afterwards.

I have been running, since running is one of the best ways to lose weight.
I also do circuit training-2 strength exercises, and one cardio. Repeat.
Yoga is great.
Masala Bhangra is fun, as is Turbo Kick. Love both those group classes!
Pole dance. My personal favorite, but its not the best cardio exercise.

I wish to god I could achieve this high, I never have. Might make me actually WANT to work out!

I think it has to be aerobic to get the buzz, I don't know. Or maybe you have to be well practiced in the routines?
I know I've been working out for years, and hitting the bag for a large part of that time. But never got the high the way I do now. And it lasts way longer. It could be because I have probably tripled the punches thrown per round, in the last three years--and decreased the rest intervals, so it is a lot more aerobic, but still strength training as well.
I used to get it sometimes swimming laps, though.
Never once got it running, that never did anything for me at all. Lifting weights, sometimes, to some extent, but never like this.
I think you have to really like what you are doing, too. I could never, ever get this with any sort of team sports, because I cannot stand them.

I don't think it's just aerobic or from being practised. I think the high is from intensity, regardless of the actual activity. Whether it's from throwing down with someone who has excellent work rate and hand speed (aerobic), grappling with a talented opponent or weight lifting at max potential (anaerobic), I've always gotten that same high after high actual work rate/intensity. I don't get it as much from bag work unless if I am circuiting different bags (ie headhunter to double end to 80 lb to low kick bags), or if I'm trading between bags and focus mitts because I tend to get bored on single bags, and end up breaking down combinations instead of focusing on intensity.
And to the poster regarding your brother who is skinny but strong, it's because he is a largely ectomorphic somatotype. His approach to bulking have to be tailored to his somatotype, and while not easy, is totally possible but will have to be approached in an exacting fashion.

I will have to try this, there is a police gym I go to sometimes that has a zillion different bags. I have tried switching back & forth from 80 lb to 100 lb bags, but that's pretty pointless except as a bit of a break from the 100.
Incidentally, I thought you were someone else who used to post about this stuff here! now I see I was dead wrong. Now I feel like an idiot haha. Oh well it happens.
