Default Corporate Clubs - Which Would You Pick?

I'm curious to hear what other people's opinions are on corporate clubs. If you knew that your club was going out of business, which of the following corporations would you prefer to have purchase the club? Or if you are not at a club, which corporation would you prefer to work for if no independent clubs were around?

    1.) Rick's Cabaret

    2.) VCGH/Pt's

    3.) Deja Vu

    4.) Spearmint Rhino

I know for some this is like trying to select a president, you pick the lesser of the evils, so which one do you think you'd choose? Why?

I'd like to hear pros and cons for your choice.

If you've worked for any of the chains, please tell us which at the beginning of your post.

Last, if there is an independent club owner who you wish owned more clubs, who is it? What makes their club(s) great?

I don't know much about any of them, but I had a friend who worked for the Vu that said it was ok. I believe club Onyx down in Charlotte is owned by Rick's, and I've heard nice things. I'm not sure if this one counts, but PaperMoon is a nice chain, so I'd pick that one. You won't catch me in any of the Christie's Cabarets though.

    Who is VCGH/PT's?

Doesn't Jenna Jameson have a line of clubs? I'd be curious to know about them.

I gotta go with papermoon too. I intensely dislike the vu, and I don't know much about the other two. I prefer to work for independent clubs. I currently work for a very small chain; they only own 4 clubs.

I have worked at PTs and Deja Vu, and have a hard time choosing between the two, but for overall-PTs. Their house fees are less than the Vu, and they also don't take a cut of your dances like Vu does, but I've noticed a snotty attitude about the girls, and management is not overly friendly-I haven't seen those problems in the Vu.

I've only worked for Rick's in Vegas. Very happy w/ management and the way they ran things financially was very fair (housefee, tipout, etc.) but I left end of Jan'10 due to $$ ... lack of earning potential. If the $$ had remained the same when I was there last year Oct'09 I would have stayed. Loved working there and was sad to leave.

I called Diamond Cabaret (VCGH chain) in Denver earlier this year ... who ever I spoke to on the phone was nice but I was told they do NOT hire dancers w/ tats ... referred me to their sister club La Bohem or PT's. So I called La Bohem and the man I spoke to (was not a manager) was a total asshole! Wouldn't even tell me the license required, nor would allow me to talk to a manager. WTF?! So w/ that experience I'm not in any hurry to check out that club for a work trip.

From everything I've been told from dancers in Vegas that worked at DV and read online they are $$ whores and take a ridiculous cut out of the dancers $$. That club is totally OFF my list.

Ricks clubs usually have good management. But again with the cut from the dances, and also they tend to have really expensive dances that can be a bit hard to sell sometimes. Also I worked for one ricks that made the custy pre pay the manager for the dances which made sales INCREDIBLY difficult. I almost stopped selling dances and just went for rooms instead. Also, they report every penny. I file taxes, but I am not a fan of the club knowing every penny I make.

DV I will only work at if I feel like working in a dive or don't care that I'm giving up over 1/2. I started looking for a new club when I sold 1800 in rooms and after their cut I walked with less than 800. Total Bullshit. I was the one that sold the room, and kept the custy in there for 3 hours. I'm not down with that. On the bright side, it's usually a lap dance factory. Plus it's easy to stack dances when the custy is willing and they usually aren't good at counting every dance. I've made $80 on one dance before. I'm ok with $5 from that going to the house.

Hope that helps. PM me if you want more info/experiences.

not that I know of. Also, one of the ricks had a 10% to the dj policy. This isn't all though. But seriously. I pick my songs 90% of the time and I'm very easy on them. Unless they sell a room for me or help me with a stage set, I'm not giving between 50 to 100 bucks to the dj when I already pay out the nose for the dances and rooms.

Rick's in Vegas didn't do that. For corporate I would have thought they'd run all the clubs the same ... obviously they don't ... good to know.

I like the ricks in manhatten. Ive also worked for the one in new orleans and made excellent money. Have also worked at penthouse and diamond cabaret in denver. Loved diamond but management in vcg clubs are annoying and up your ass! I didnt experience this in any of the ricks ive worked.

I didn't know Rick's has a club in New Orleans ... cool! How long ago did you work there? And do you know if they allow tats?

I'm surprised tats here and Austin aren't a problem. I'll call and find out ... *maybe* they've changed since 04 ... New Orleans would be a fun work/vacation.

i know this is only a 6 month old topic but the rick's in new orleans does have the same logo and such but i think they are separate from the rest of the franchise?? i know they opened a sister club about 2 blocks down on bourbon called rick's sporting saloon. the cabaret is obviously the higher class club of the 2, and their private dances and room are slightly more expensive which makes them harder to sell in this economy and on bourbon street where every other establishment seems to be a strip club. although i have not worked at the saloon yet, i think it is a nice comfortable club and i can imagine they are quite busy during game days. they do not like tattoos (at least at the cabaret) and the house mom will cover them for you if management tells you to. however, if they are small or well hidden they will not bother you too much. the cabaret wants you to wear classy dresses - no 2 piece outfits. management is very professional and friendly. they also adjusted our tipouts over this past godawful summer and offer free tip outs if you are there and dressed when the club opens. although i would not recommend visiting now because there are just so many girls and the customers are complaining about a 10$ cover!! it is one of the better clubs to have worked for

VCGH owns other clubs too, but I won't mention them right now.
When they took over my club they lowered the staff's pay, even below minimum wage (like down to waitress-wages), so now they rely more heavily on getting tipped out by us. A "trickle-down" effect that doesn't exactly work too well when the "moneymakers" in the club (us) are getting slammed by a recession. So, that fucking sucks.

Everything seems to be a "decision by Corporate", this unaccountable, untouchable entity.

Longtime staff complains that Corporate's accountants are incompetent and running the place into the ground. They MASSIVELY cut our advertising budget (um wouldn't you push advertising HARD during a recession?).

Then again, I never worked for the club before VCGH took over so I have no idea personally how different it is compared to how it was, only what long-timers tell me.

Oh but at least the club is relatively "cleaned up" since Corporate took over. Back in the day it had the reputation of bein dirty as fuck, (even in very good economic times), but all the real dirty girls got fired and there's supposedly way, way less of that shit going on (although economic desperation is undoing all that, but I think that's prolly most clubs)

EDITED TO ADD: I worked for the Crazy Horse/Pure Gold chain for a couple months and liked it alright, but found the crowd a bit on the young side. Which might not have anything to do with the chain as a whole...

Rick's (Minneapolis) was the first club I ever worked at- in summer of '07. It was an absolutely fabulous experience. I was totally spoiled from it, actually- all of the staff and management was supportive and respectful. The clients were almost entirely awesome. There was one girl who was giving me shit and had a little posse, but she was fired because of it. They only kept track of PART of the dances, (unless you got paid a ridiculous amount with credit cards) they were clean, classy, the house mom was divine....it was bliss, pretty much. Best. Job. Ever.

Yeah the ricks in N.O isnt corporate. I worked there recently and discussed this with one manager. The one in manhattan is. The ricks in N.O. i nice and they are picky about hiring. Dances and rooms believe it or not are more expensive than manhattan, were dances are done on the floor for 20 and you have vips for around 400 for half and 800 for an hour and you get half that. Ricks in N.O. the dances are 60, you keep 50 and rooms are 500 for half and 1000 for an hour with the take over 20% if its funny money, real money you keep all minus 20 to manager.
