Default when a customer calls you a liar

    Hi y'all-

What do you do when, during normal initial small talk, a customer says something like "You're not from here; stop making things up" or "Why are you lying to me? You aren't 26. You're full of shit." or "really, your shift just started? you've said that before tonight."? This sort of thing seems to always happen when I'm actually telling the truth. Do I need to work on my tone of voice to sound more honest (when I'm being honest)? If so, how?

Normally I just assume the guy isn't interested in spending money on me, try not to let his attitude ruin my mood, and move on. Anyone have a better tactic that might actually salvage the sale?

This only happens to me once or twice a night. Don't know why it's stuck in my head.

    Thanks!

Depending on the type of guy, I would play it off and become sarcastic/funny in a cutesy way. I might say something like, "you're absolutely RIGHT! I'm actually 47, but I age really well from grinding on strangers' penises (ok you don't have to go that far) all day!! You'd be AMAZED at what that does for the skin! And actually, you're also right - my shift didn't just start...I've been working nonstop for the past week! It's your turn to see what I'm working with now *flirty smile*.

Place a bet and have a way to prove it. Tell him that if you can prove you are telling the truth he has to buy a dance from you.

I've actually had multiple sells this way.

Then either use evidence you have on you, or call a bouncer over and have him answer a question that proves you were telling the truth. If you use the bouncer, be sure to tip him though.

Well, towards the end of my "house dancer" career, when a guy called me a "liar" or was simply a smart ass with me I'd retort "look, I'm an actress - better being me than a sorry as MFer who has to pay for it"

I don't really suggest you say that untill around the end of your shift

OMG. I'm from NY and I live in SC now and when guys ask me where I'm from they always think I'm lieing. Like would you like me to talk with my accent?? Cause then I'll just sound like a bitch. At least that's what southern people think.
Honestly, IDK how I'd handle that one.

Is this one customer who said all this? If so he's a dope.

If it is several customers on different occasions then yes maybe you need to take a look at what your saying.

I had guys all the time who would call me a liar when I told them I grew up in Arkansas. They said my accent wasn't thick enough--just cause I didn't sound like Scarlett from Gone With the Wind. I would gently try to convince them, but if they started to get pissy about it, I'd leave.

I also had guys claim they knew I wasn't a natural blonde cause they were in a month ago and saw me with brown hair...I have NEVER had anything but blonde hair. Never died it. Ever. And I never would.

It always used to piss me off when guys would insist I'm a liar. That frustrates me real quick.

lol i had a guy a few weeks ago ask me if i had contacts in, to which i replied yes, then his drunk mate next to him said nastily, "uve got false lashes on" im like "no i havnt, its just alot of mascara".
he's like "your fucking lieing, there not real" im like "well, if i admitted to the eye contacts, do u think ide lie about stupid lashes, there not even perfect, there a lil clumpy, false lashes are perfect", to which the first guy nodded in agreement to me, and said i had a point. but i told the first guy his mate was a loser and walked off.

some guys just like to be dicks for the sake of being dicks, i dont like being around dicks, throws me off my game.

^^agree with domino diva. some of these guys are just being douchebags.

honestly my philosophy on douchebag customers is to just bully them as much as possible. i am an excellent bully-- this seems to be the only way to make money off of these guys. they want to be in a position of power, and when they are they wont be spending. so do what you can to take away that power-- be it through sarcastic answers that make them look stupid or flat out insults. and if that is not going to work or is going to put you in a bad mood, then walk away.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

I've found that these guys tend to be time wasters.

There's a difference between the guy who is doubting your hustle (normal for customers to do) and the guy who is trying to find holes in everything you say.

They're usually looking for a sadistic kind of fun where they always get to be "right" since you can't prove that you're right.

I think charlie said it best. They just like to be right because you can't prove anything. If a guy isn't being silly when he says you're lying then he is probably just an ass. You either have to be able to laugh it off and change the subject or just walk away.
Though if it is happening that often to you try changing how you answer some of the questions that they accuse you of lying about and see if that helps.

This is a pet peeve of mine.
I once had a guy start to ask me personal questions and then said'" Oh, I'm sorry if I'm getting too personal."
I said," That's ok, b/c I'm going to tell you lies anyway."
He got mad. What a dickhead. I think he thought he was interviewing me for dating material and I fucked up his game. WTF. I'm not there to date you. NEXT.

I hate when guys start a question with "I bet you hear this all the time..." Well if you know that motherfucker don't ask me! haha Or when a guy says "I really hope you don't mind me asking/saying"(and then proceeds to ask an inappropriate question) 845436 times...

I just remind them politely that it shouldn't matter because they came to see naked girls, not become a part of their personal life. And that home and work are kept very far away from each other.

almost always time wasters. these are the guys who are trying to bully you into leaving the club right now and having sex with them because they are just SOOOO smart and sexy, such total alpha males. and if they can't do that, they're gonna try to make at least one girl cry (at my club, this usually ends up being me. lol).

some guys are just joking around when they say this stuff, but you can hear that in their voice. some guys are just paranoid...either they're stripclub newbs or have been massively screwed over before by a girl who didn't have the good sense to keep her lie up. some guys just plain have zero idea how stripclubs work.

one thing that people in general need to realize (sc customers and everyone else too) is that the best liar is completely believable. they care just so little that nothing they say will sound even a little fake. while somebody can be telling the total truth, but because they're nervous it might seem like they're lying.

moral of the story...just find the girl you are most attracted to, start with one dance, and if you enjoy it get a couple more or move on to a private room or whatever the club's options are.

I like the placing a bet idea...you obligate them to get a dance that way if you can prove you are telling the truth.
Sometimes I also just say " Oh, ok you win.... . you're right." in kind of a flat statement and then just stare at them. They don't really know what to say after that, lol. Then either try to get a sale or just walk away. They lie just as much as we do.....a friend of mine used to dance and she had a great custy who would get CRs and talk about his successfull businesses and travels, etc. Turned out she went to a hardware store to buy paint one day and he was behind the counter mixing and selling paint! No fancy Trump style career! They all just need an ego boost I guess....

^ I've started doing that too. It pisses me off so much when people presume they know me that I've just started saying "Yeah, you must be right. You probably would know better than I." (flat affect)

Upon further reflection (and a couple of shifts with it on my mind), I realize there are two issues here: The asshole time-wasters who need to feel in control and who might buy a dance but it probably won't be worth it, and the well-meaning but ignorant people who honestly believe that everyone from New Orleans is either Black or Cajun or at least has a cartoonish accent. So my new strategy is to not ask where a person is from unless he or she seems to be reasonably intelligent.

My husband has 2, ex-friends that just get off on treating girls like shit when they go to a club. These 2 dickheads have absolutley no remorse and reservations about degrading and demoralizing dancers in any way possible. Worst part is, after they've left the club, they brag about what they did and how they probally made them cry.

Here's the really funny part. They don't have a shred of self confidence themselves and, both of these two dickheads have absolute pigs for wives. So, at the end of the day they have to crawl into bed with these gawd awful women.

So, I guess my point is, dont let some dickhead ruin your groove. Just imagine what they probally have to crawl into bed with and laugh your ass off.

Here's an interesting little fact that's eternally stuck in my head, years ago, McGraw Hill conducted a survey and statiscially speaking, women handle rejection better than men. So, just brush it off, smile, and move on.

Repeat after me, i love my job, i love my job, i love my job!
