    Default Tucson vs. Phoenix

I'm living in Tucson right now and looking for a new place to strip. I worked at Turbulence and Bunny Ranch for a while but the money at both turned into $50-$100 a week for most of the girls pretty often. I was still making $200-$300 a week, but that was still way to low to be worth it to me. Both places required a 7 hour shift and only working at night. Sometimes I worked as much as 50-60 hours in a week, and for that little money it was insane.

I'm still 18 for another month or two but would like to keep stripping. I was wondering if there was anywhere in Phoenix I could go, and how they were.

Also, for when I'm 19 soon, is it better to work in Phoenix or Tucson? I would have to commute to Phoenix which would be a huge annoyance, but if the money really is substantially greater than I would definitely consider it. In Tucson I was having trouble choosing between Tens and Curves. Can anyone give me a little more information on them? I want to be able to work 5-11 shifts if possible, which some day shifts on the weekends.

I work in both cites at the topless clubs. I have been working mostly in Phx for the past year bc that is where my boyfriend lives. Many of the good Phx clubs have weekly shift requirements, which is hard to do when you live in Tucson. Do not kid yourself that you can do the commute. It is FAR!!! Phoenix has more POTENTIAL due to having more people and travelers. BUT, those customers are often spread too thin because there are just so many strip clubs in Phx (of all varieties).

I do not think Phx is worth the commute. I do think you should try out the topless clubs in Tucson and decide which one suits you. You can add TD's East to that list as well. I have never worked at that one, but from what i hear it should be on your list.

I just want to add, and I mean this in the best way. If you are making that amount of money working at those clubs (and I know those clubs) you should not be dancing. Go to school and wait tables or work at a call center or retail. IMO stripping is not for you.

If you are a pretty girl, perhaps you need a little more life experience to be interesting to your customers. You can come back to dancing when you have a little more to bring to the table.

    wait, 300 a week or 300 a night??

yea 300 a week- you can make more money with less stress doing something else.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

I meant that the club was getting that low at times. When I say that at those times when the club was that low I was making $200, I should point out that I was always in the top three earners that night. When I started it was a hell of a lot better. Those bad nights and weeks I quoted my numbers on were based on nights with less than 10 customers a night, not all of which even spent a $1 on a girl. The clubs have picked up a bit again, but I was told that at clubs like Tens and Curves they don't have those kinds of nights. The numbers quoted were also after house, dance tax, and mandatory tipouts that were still not less than about $75 on an extremely slow night.

So you are paying 75 dollars, but making way less than that? My previous post still stands by the way. you can make 9 dollars an hour some where!!! And you can put it on your resume!!

I'm working a straight job now ($10 an hour). Stripping was just nicer in some ways. It meant I got to be active instead of just getting up to make copies as my exercise at work, and there were some nice people there. I would like to keep stripping, but I'm not doing it for that money. When you make $100 in a night and only walk out with $7 it's just not right. I think my best bet is just waiting around for the topless clubs next month, though I'm not going to quit my day job.

jesus I agree with the other dancers, at your age, and if you are only making that much at the club..focus on school or some kind of skills training so you can have something to put on a resume. I know stripping is kinda fun and all but that money is not worth it

    FYI:
I work in Tucson, or at least I did. I come back one week a month to check on things at my house and be with friends for a week. Tucson clubs are FILLED with girls with this mentality. They sit with customers all night (waitresses and dancers) for no money. It is fun for them. They get to get out of the house... join a club- don't strip at one. If this is how you are doing at the Bunny Ranch, this is how you will do at Curves. I know it, because I see it every night at Curves. You can try to go back and read old bitchy posts of mine, or I could make new threads each and every time I try to work here again (like all this week). I internalize my anger at these dancers and waitresses when I really want to knock some sense into them. I admit to having a way with words which can make the dancer who comes to my work to add some spice to her life feel extremely stupid.
This is the state of Tucson Clubs.

Phoenix is definitely not worth the 2 hour commute. After the cost of gas for the miserable drive, the cost of a hotel if you decide to stay in Phoenix for more than 1 night, and the time cost, you may not come out ahead. And it would be a huge pain in the ass. I understand that the situation in Tucson can suck. But like Shasta said, try a different club in Tucson when you turn 19. If the money is still awful, this job may not be for you.

Do you think this is because the clubs are filled with college girls who aren't serious about the work? I used to go down to Tucson a LOT-- almost every weekend for about a year-- and I met a few girls who were "strippers". I got the feeling they did it because they were finally in college, were away from their parents for the first time in their lives, and wanted to be "naughty". Very little interest in the money. I'm not saying all Tuscon dancers are like this, but I just got that impression. Maybe I'm wrong.

^This used to be the case for sure. Now the girls are either super ghetto or pretty and drug addicts.

Uh... You're thinking of dancing in Phoenix.... in the summer? No offense, but you're not going to be making anymore than you would in Tucson. Phoenix has twice as many girls, a good portion of which are models (Regardless of how ghetto the club), half the customers, some of the clubs DO NOT hire during the summer and you'll be in a new club with zero regulars. You'll be taking your situation from bad to worse.

I agree with what's said above; try getting a normal job. If that's absolutely not possible, then I'd pick a club, dig my claws in, try to get as many regular customers as possible and prepare for one terrible summer.

I have never in my life heard of anyone making $300.00 a week from dancing. If you can't even at the bare minimum make $300.00 a night I would just get a "real" job.

I danced at TD's East a few times (never made $ there) and Raider's Reef (for a few years on and off). I made atleast $400-$500/nite working at night say 8pm-2am. Keep in mind that this was between 2005-2007 so I am sure the money has went downhill a bit.

I think a pretty dancer that knows how to hustle could make $400-$500 a night @ Raider's Reef (or atleast then they could).

Totally meant "in a weeknight" I thought I had written it right until I just looked back at it. I make more on the weekends, but enjoy the weeknights better, so I base my experience in a club off of the weekdays.

It definitely was the clubs. Went somewhere else and made much more money. The same is true for the other girls. Management is just running Bunny Ranch into the ground. I was over next door at Fascinations with some friends on a recent Saturday at midnight and the only cars in the parking lot were those of the dancers. Everyone was hanging out outside because there was no one in the club.

I've been told that in the last couple of years money has definitely gone down hill, but I'm satisfied with what I'm making now. It's also nice not paying the club every penny I earn if there wasn't any money to be made because of lack of customers.

I've thought of trying out the boat, but all the rumors of rampant extras make me nervous. I do know a few girls making money at TD's East though.

In Tucson, 300 on any night is good. I am dancing here now, and will be for the next 2 weeks. I only work from 10pm to close. So, 300 for that shift is good here.

Did you ever end up working at Curves or Ten's?

I don't dance in Arizona at all because the $ is not up to my standards but I had always *heard* that Curves was a good club.

Tens is good, I keep seeing Curves busy so I'm working a shift there soon to see for myself. Every club in town has a different feeling though. After being inside Curves I think I'll fit in there. A friend of mine is still at Tens though and she does great.

um...lol i'm in phoenix and almost every club IS hiring right now and as for the girls being models lmao that's only like 10%! you'd be surprised at how low rent a lot of the girls are that are getting hired into the clubs here right now...

I haven't really noticed a change in my earnings since summer started, but then again, I don't dance for college kids. Also, have strip tripped to Phoenix and they are still hiring with plenty of guys in a club. I think that both cities are just about how you hustle, though my previous club was pretty terrible.

I would have to agree with all the other ladies. I live in Phoenix and sometimes commute to Tuscon to work. Phoenix in the summer is horrible, definately not worth the commute. As far as Tuscon is concerned I make decent money (in my opinion) working at the Candy Store. If I work a full shift say about 6 hours I will make $500. However, I usually get pretty worn out and work for like 3 hours or so and will almost always leave with $300. There are no good and bad days, I find the money exceptionally steady which is rare in this industry at the moment.

You should check out that club. It has an awful reputation. But as a veteran dancer, money is all that speaks and you can make it at that club.

Also, if you are in fact making $300 a night then why would you want to come to Phoenix? I think that is good money to make in one day of work, but that is just my opinion.

Actually, money is not all that speaks. Safety actually screams a lot louder to me. Considering that they have more shootings than any other clubs, recently got busted for just about everyone selling cocaine, there have been nearly a dozen dancers that I've heard crying about getting raped there and the bouncers not caring, and the fact that upon walking inside to check it out my husband stepped on a used condom, there is a lot more to think about that club than how good the money is. I care about my working environment and my safety.

I know clean dancers can work there and make a lot of money, but I'm not willing to take the risks to my well being. I hope you have not experienced any problems, but I don't gamble with things like that.

That club is pretty awful, especially the shootings. However, their are many clubs in Phoenix that have had similar issues just little media attention. Their is one club in particular that there was a gun draw almost every weekend. No shooting, but customer's pulling their weapons out. And this was a nice club. I also worked at a club in WA that is no longer around that had a similar gun issue. I guess stuff like that just doesn't phase me. Hell I see guns sometimes in my own apartment complex. I hate guns personally, but in a way I have just learned to live with it.

I've worked at the Candy Store for six months, even during their recent raid and I personally never felt my safety was in danger. I did find a condom once, but I've also found a condom a couple times when I worked at a nice club in Phoenix and one in Vegas. I can't control what other girls do just what I do.

Basically, I am saying I agree with you about safety, but having worked at this club and still working their, I've never felt at any time, not once, that I was in danger. I had heard all the hype about it but decided to check it out for myself and have found thus far it is a club I can go to, make money, no drama with the ladies, and be left alone to do my job. Also, the customers have always been respectful of me.

Well, I'm glad that it has worked out for you and you are able to make good money there. I moved from LA to get away from things like shootings and drug dealings and it's not something I want to surround myself with. I know that it is everywhere, but it is more prevalent in certain locations and I'd rather just avoid those places. In Tucson there are other clubs where shootings and weapons being pulled are much rarer.

One of the best ways to avoid bad things is to not put yourself in a bad situation. Nothing bad may come of working there, but just the higher chance that it could happen there is enough for me to go out and enjoy working at other venues.
