    Sad Sleeping/trying to wake up

Hi ladies! I'm hoping you guys can help me out here because I feel like I'm being driven absolutely nuts!

I have Hypersomnia, basically meaning I sleep more than the average person - I can easily sleep for 14 hours a day and when I get 8 hours sleep I can barely wake up and I'm so tired I need a nap later on. I'll sleep through my music-blasting alarm, my roommate banging on my door, my phone ringing, I've even slept through all the smoke alarms in the apartment going off. My doctor gave me a medicine called Nuvigil which helps people wake up, but it was pointless seeing as I couldn't wake up in the first place to take it. I'm on Adderal now to make me more alert, but honestly it doesn't help that much unless I get 12+ hours sleep too, which is meant be the whole point.

What do you guys do to help you feel more awake? I've heard of working out when you wake up, but after I work out I slump on my couch and pass out! Are there any vitamins or supplements that can help, or good foods to eat? I feel like I need to make some life changes to help myself with this, rather than just look for a new med.... I just don't know what those changes are. If there was an alarm that would actually freaking wake me up, it would go along way, ugh!

Right now it mostly affects my dancing, but luckily my club doesn't have schedules. I've slept in for my internship once or twice before though ( i work there once a week) and I just graduated so I'm looking for a "regular" career job. I'm so stressed that my sleeping issues will stop me from having that

I've found that when I am super tired, and need to wake up, if I use my phone alarm on vibrate it will wake me up. I put my phone in my pillow case so it won't roll under my bed, and it works like a charm. It will wake me up better than loud noises.
If your still so tired you can barely move, hop in the shower and alternate hot and cold. Wean yourself off of sleep, give yourself one day out of seven to sleep(some people need to sleep a whole day that often), and you will be fine.
Find something that interests you eanouph that you WANT to wake up, that you look forward to, and you will.

Hypersomnia? Interesting. I think I can finally put a name to what I have had for a long time. I am gonna drop this term by my doctor and hopefully it can help them officially diagnose me with something.

I have this Hypersomnia problem, combined with something that is called "CRD" (circadian rhythm disorder)....it's where your natural biorhythm is the opposite of what it should be....meaning people with CRD have more energy at night and less energy during the day. It can be caused by alot of things but I have been a "night owl" ever since I was a little kid. I have always been very, very tired during the day for as long as I can remember. I used to fall asleep at my desk all through grade school all the way until senior year of highh school. Teachers would send notes home and call about it. I have also had a big, big problem with keeping a day job for any long period of time. I have had two day "desk" jobs in my life and I lasted 9 months at one and just a little over a year at the other. I would fuck up all the time because I was SO tired.

SO, not only can I not sleep at night, I need to sleep 12 hours or I am DEAD tired. I can't usually fall asleep until about 4 a.m., and can sleep easily until 5 or 6 the next day. I force myself to wake up anywhere between 12 noon and 2 pm though, or I'd never get anything done.

I drink 2 cups of coffee immediately after waking, I set the coffee maker so it's brewed by the time I get up. I also eat breakfast asap and take my B12 vitamin with that, then hit the gym as soon as my meal settles. I does help.

    Good luck!!
