    Default upfront cash and tipping

When a dancer asks for cash upfront for lap dance whats the proper method of tipping? Do I give the tip with the money or wait till the dance is over?

Normally when this happens I give the money with no tip, and tip after the dance. My fear is the girl with see only the 20 dollars and think, "Oh, no tip? this guy is getting a shitty dance." and then with a self-fulling prophecy, I'll get a shitty dance and be like "fuck tipping her" or give a bad tip.

    What's people's experience with this?
And is $5-10 a good tip per $20 dance?

You can tip after. A dancer should never expect a tip for individual dances, and therefore should always do her best to give a great dance. You can tip afterward according to what you feel she deserves.

    ^^

    Good question!

Everyone is different and I know this can vary from place to place. I prefer to be paid up front for the dance(s) and then tipped when we're through. Normally, my dances never stop at just one, so don't rush to tip until we're all done playing. Please pay for each dance as we go or just give me the $60+ for the three or more that we do up front so I don't have to stop and ask each time.
I appreciate a minimum 20% tip but of course, more is always welcome.

I know guys can sometimes balk at paying upfront for dances but please understand that that's a red flag for some of us. It can typically be taken as a sign we should prepare to get stiffed. Many clubs will not come to the aide of a dancer who gets ripped off and didn't ask for her money at the start of the dance. This happens all the time so better safe than sorry for the dancer. Just pay upfront for single or multiple dances and let's get down to having fun!

With tipping, it just depends on how generous you are. I've danced in parts of Asia, where the tipping culture sucks and I would never expect extra after a dance so I got out of the habit of even asking. I've also danced in Canada where the tipping culture is great and asking got me at least 20% or more! But personally, I view stripping like any other service industry job and 20% is the minimum standard.

    I agree with Kylea.
And if the girl gives you a shitty dance because you didn't tip her, she didn't deserve it to begin with. (some girls have no work ethic.)
Tips are given after a service, based on the quality of service. 5-10 is a great tip on a 20$ dance. The more tip the better! But of course it depends on how you enjoyed the dance.

I'm not generally a "one dance" guy and the only time I've been asked to pay up front was in some city I can't even remember. Never in any of my regular clubs.

If I do end up only getting one dance the chances are the lady didn't really do anything to deserve a tip.

I'm not a big tipper to be honest. I buy a minimum of $100 (above and beyond any club cut) worth of dances at a time from every dancer that I see regularly and I also buy them drinks and food while we are visiting. Multiple dances and return business are the way I reward good service.

That being said, I think five or ten bucks on a $20 dance is a very good tip...

I paid once upfront (actually 2 hrs ahead of time) because the girl didn't believe I was good for the dance I'd promised her later in the evening. I took the initiative, pre-paid, and told her to come back at 11pm. . At the time, I didn't realize that "later" or "maybe later" were such unacceptable replies. As far as a girl demanding money up front, I've never seen or heard of that happening around here, except for the hour long champagne rooms on occasion.

As far as tipping was concerned, $5 on a $25 dance was pretty common, particularly if it was a two-fer, which used to pop up once a shift.

We live in relatively the same area. This has happened to me twice one at the Cadillac Lounge and the other Hurricane Betty's. Both were actually mediocre dances for different reasons.

I've only been asked for money up front once, on my visit to Vegas 2 weeks ago. It surprised me a little, but since I was a non-regular @ that club, I just went along with it. I think that had I gotten regular dances on the main floor she probably wouldn't have asked for the money up front. But when you're taking a new, non-proven customer to VIP for the first time I can understand why she asked for it in advance.

I waited until after the dance to give her a tip (it was a great VIP experience on a bean bag bed!). The thought that the OP wrote about possibly getting a shitty dance with no pre-tip ran through my head. But it didn't make sense to pre-tip for a set of dances whose quality were yet unknown.

The "tip before or after" can be quite a conundrum indeed

I've only been asked once to pay up front for a dance on the main floor. It was about 15 minutes before closing time, so I paid the dancer, but did not tip her. I don't tip dancers who ask for up front cash.

Thats called being a cheap ass I would say good riddance.

Asking for $$ up front is a smart move for a dancer(esp if hes drunk). I know I never trust these guys unless the guy is a regular who I know is good for it.

I think the fact that the OP is asking this question shows he must be a decent customer, I would say tip at the end(I mean make sure your satisfied w/her performance first).

I know what you mean about them young drunk guys, that's why I always drink Iced tea, but I'm a regular so I don't tip new dancers who ask for their $$$ up front.

I agree that asking for initial payment upfront is smart. I always do that! You wouldn't believe how many guys let you dance and then say "oh, I don't have any money" or "Oh, I thought dances were $10... I only have $10". Getting your money upfront establishes how much dances are and for a dancer it creates trust.

When I travel I'm almost always the "new girl". I don't know you from John Doe down the street, and I shouldn't have to ask for your "references" from a bunch of other people that I barely know. Just pay me so we can enjoy our time/dance.

Ask for money up front! I lost out on 80 bucks when I was a newbie!! Guy had NO cash on him and no intentions on returning to pay me. His card didn't work at the ATM either... probably stolen or overdrawn.

I like when guys buy multiple dances in a row (up front) so we don't get interrupted. And as far as tipping goes... you can tip afterwards. I like surprises!

    This.

I've danced in so many different states and regions of the world. To trust every single man where ever I happen to be is dangerously naive. Don't question my protocol when I ask to be paid upfront.

For those customers who find this to be a turn-off, that's fine. Just make sure to stick to your regular girls who know you well enough to work with you that way.

Asking for dances up front isn't the norm where I've danced. I've asked a few times when I got a bad vibe, and it always turned out that afterwards, the guy told me he was put off by that, and didn't want to get more dances for that reason. Were they being honest, who knows? I went with my instinct.

I've been ripped off a few times. Once for around $60...less at other times. Getting ripped off will ruin an entire night's work I've found. It is smart to get paid upfront, particularly for time-based rooms, or if one has a bad instinct about the person.

The reason I ask is that dances are paid at the bar where I worked... so unless a guy buys how many he wants up front... it's gonna get interrupted.

This is why I like clubs with couch rooms where you set your own price and they don't take money out of your dance... much more relaxed and you can set up prices for minutes/etc. So far I don't think a place like this exists in North Carolina. South Carolina, yes. But not here.

I can't remember where I heard about these, but some clubs now are implementing these pay toll things in their booths. The guys pay dance by dance, but it goes directly into a machine so the dancer doesn't have to argue with the customer about that. I don't know if it tracks which dancer gave the dances or if it returns the money to her at the end? Either way though, I'd like to see more clubs start using something like that so dancers don't have to deal with these guys that want to argue over money.

Hmmm could be interesting to check into that. I like the idea because all they have to do is feed more dollahs intoth machine and it's easy to keep them going. I don't like it cause I like my monies in mah hand hahaha. It's probably very safe though and keeps guys off of your garter trying to steal back what they paid you for the dance... oh yeah, it happens.

Does anybody here work somewhere with one of those deals?

I believe those are common in many California clubs. And believe you me, its not there to protect the dancer's money. Its so the club can take their cut without relying on a counter person, or the dancer's honesty. Since when have clubs done shit with caring about the dancer in mind?

^^^ In my personal opinion... that is a good thing.

I've chewed out numerous staff in charge of counting dances. Why? Because they do one of two things:

1.) Count more dances then you actually did... in which case you might have to pay the club more than they deserve.

2.) Try to undercut the club. They write you down for less dances then you actually did and then expect you to tip them for doing so. Why should I tip someone for doing their job? Besides, most of those guys are getting some sort of hourly pay. If they want a raise they need to talk to management - not try to extort it from the dancers!

Sorry, pisses me off. Some people obviously need to go back to elementary school to learn how to count!

Yes but very rarely... you do find the clubs that don't count dances and have reasonable house fees. These places are magical.

I worked in Columbia and it was like that... laid back, flat house fee, and you set your price. That's my biggest thing... I believe girls should charge what they think they are worth. (With a minimum of course... you can't have girls charging 2 bucks for couch dances.... ugh.)

^^^ ahh - again - the joys of upselling. I ALWAYS ask if upselling is okay at the clubs. Some clubs have simply never considered it.

The club I work at a club that wants the girls to get their money up front. It is stated in our contracts. Guys that don't want to pay dont get to play. The only time I don't ask for the money up front is if it is a regular. As far as tipping up front just ask the girl if she wants the tip before or after the dance. That is what most guys that are going to give me a tip ask in my club. If they don't ask I just assume they are not going to tip. It is also true that we get stiffed from guys that buy multiple dances that dont pay first. A customer asked a girl to dance for him. He got about two hundred worth of dances. He did not want to pay so the manager got involed and the police officer that works the club got his ID and ran it and found out he had a warrant. He went to jail. All that could have been avoided if he had just paid the dancer.................One of my friends got stiffed like that one night and the guy said he needed to go out to the car to get some money, well she said leave me your watch. She got her money.

No offense but both of these clubs attract just the kind of guy that would ask for dances and then try to get out of paying for them. The custom of getting money up front is pretty rare in Mass/RI clubs but, given the current economy, I can see why it may become more common. I know a girl who got ripped-off for $200 worth of dances at another club near HB's a few months ago. Sadly, it was from a guy that she had danced for before...
