    Duh Another example of prejudice

So I am in a community service organization at my college. At the end of this semester we did a textbook donation drive on campus. We had a collection box set up next to the university-run buyback line. As a senior member of the organization I volunteered plenty of time during finals week to sit outside and collect books.

Earlier tonight I was hanging out with some friends, including the president of the organization. He told me an interesting story. Apparently while he was doing collections this week some kid who lives on my block came over to donate books. The kid told him: "I saw you guys last week and I was gonna donate, but this stripper from my block was sitting there and I thought it was like her new way to make money so I didn't come over"

How lame is that? This kid is some douchey bro-type who I've never even spoken to. IDK how he even knows that I dance. And he has the nerve to judge me for it when I'm collecting textbooks to donate to underprivileged public schools?

My buddy handled it really well, though. He told the kid I was a good friend of his and apparently dude got all flustered and started backpedaling and saying "Oh I mean she's cool and all..." At least there are some people out there who aren't narrow-minded and stick up for their friends.

I'm glad your buddy stuck up for you. And the little jerk probably went to your work, saw you and spent the next 1/2 hour jerking off in the men's room.

Naw he's prolly the kind of person who would go to the club with his bros and be all "I can get any girl here to blow with me for $50, strippers are all whores with no self-esteem" and then spend the rest of the night insulting all the girls after being rejected

Wow... that's the stupidest thing I've heard in awhile. He obviously needs to be taking classes!

Usually those bro types are really insecure, and that's why they say dumb things like the stripper comment. I've never met a bro who was truly a confident person, and didn't seem like he was making up for something. That's why he's a 'bro' - he needs all his other bro friends to make him feel like a real man.

If he knows you by sight, out of everyone in the school, it's probably because he has a thing for you, or you intimidate him. For srsly. I wouldn't doubt he has a thing for you. It's weird, but I think most of those conventional douchy-type guys are really attracted to the alternative girls; they display a confidence and individuality that the bro will never have. Ho hum.

That's redic. And not to mention... super rude that he blew up your spot like that! I don't keep it a HUGE secret when I'm dancing, but I also don't want the whole world to know... that stuff can spread around campus like wildfire. That's lame that he didn't consider that. Because other than that, I thought his other actions were perfectly considerate (*cough* sarcasm *cough*).

But five points for the guys who defended you to that jerk.

Seriously... 'this stripper is volunteering time at a donation thing... but I thought she'd just steal all the money, so I didn't donate'....
Who would even THINK to use something like that for profit? That just goes to show what a scumbag THIS guy is that it would occur to him to do something like that.

Oh, that was definitely his point to blow up her spot. He was hoping the guy would turn out to be another bro and they could bond by trashing her. That's why he back up so fast when the guy told him they were friends. Hope he gets his ass beat, f-ing douche.

Actually the dude went on to talk about how cracked out he was on adderall and how he hadn't slept all week because of finals, etc...so it may have been a case of him not thinking clearly and not being aware of normal boundaries of what you can say to a stranger, rather than looking for an excuse to trash talk. But obviously that doesn't excuse his douchey-ness, which he posseses in spades.

I hope so because I was imagining him trying to strike up a bro-mance with your friend!

That is some real douchey behavior right there, I mean if I were cracked out on Adderall I would probably go on about how much I love strippers, rather than dissing them just to have something to talk about. It was also way uncool for him to call you out like that but your friend deserves a pat on the back for sticking up for you.

Also, the few bro guys I have become friends with have all ended up using me as someone they call in the middle of the night. Not for a booty call, oh no, they call me to tell me about their secret insecurities and use me as a shrink. "Oh most people think I'm such a confident guy, but I'm actually really self conscious of my big nose." Needless to say that these parasitic friendships have not lasted past the second or third phone call of this kind.
