Thumbs down First time I've cried in a while.

Long story short, my dad is very self consience of his teeth. They're terrible because he didn't take care of them growing up and he used drugs for many years. My son's birthday party is coming up this month and it will be at my boyfriends parents house. So this would be the first time our families meet. My mom just told me that my dad won't be going because he's embarassed by his teeth... So now I'm online searching for a dental care plan so he can get some work done on his teeth... Ugh. I just feel horrible.

That's so sad. My father has awful teeth too and even though he's never mentioned it, I'm sure it bothers him. He always covers his mouth when he laughs. He'd sooner die than go to a dentist though. So sweet of you trying to help.

I hate it. I did find a place though that does dentures/ teeth extractions and replacements and all that stuff...I'm making him go next week for the initial exam and estimate and I'm paying for it.

How about trying dental schools for some of the basic stuff? I think a proper experienced dentist might be good for complex stuff, but if there's any basic things that could help, it can be super cheap to get it done at a dental school. The students are all really closely supervised and they give big discounts. I had a friend that used to go to the local dental school for all her cleanings etc, and she always got it free.

I have a medical discount plan that I use, but the company also offers a dental only discount plan that's really awesome. If you want to contact me I'll give you my representative's telephone number.

    Thanks, but no thanks!!!
Kylea- I've looked at dental plans and the problem is that I can't find one that works with dental facilities in his area. But can you pm me the name of your plan and the number? Ill check it out.

I'm in Texas and I've known several people that drive or fly to Mexico for good dental care. I'm talking about top-notch U.S.-trained dentist in Mexico that cater to wealthy Mexicans.

But, if you have any special qualms with Mexican dentists - then what about dental services in Canada or Europe? ANYWHERE else in the world, dentists and medical services will cost a fraction of what they costs in the US. I'm going to Spain this summer to visit friends and will be getting a physical exam and dental exam for about 10% of what it would cost in the U.S.

Ok overseas dental care isn't really an option....

I actually took him to a place this morning called "Affordable Dentures". It costed me $90 for an xray and an estimate. It will cost a little over 400 total to get his teeth fixed. So, Imma do it He was trying not to show it, but i could tell he was so excited about going just for the consultation. Felt great!
