Wow, so after being at this for about three weeks and having to take some shifts off for a cold (ick), I was back at it last week and have to say I'm a bit, er, underwhelmed with my earnings.
I work at a dive bar. Blue collar clientele in a very small place with no VIP and a bunch of video lottery machines. I know you can make money there, but it is very low-hustle. The custy's mainly come in there for a drink and to tip the stage. I've been trying to get the hang of reading the custys but I might be better suited for a hard-hustle club.
Wednesday night was weird. I sold zero dances, made $100 in stage tips, and had a customer kicked out. The dude was sitting at the stage, chatting me up, and tipping me, so I thought I had a good chance for a sell. I told him I wanted to spend some more time with him, and he said he wanted to teach me how to play the lottery machines. So I went with him, thinking it would be for only a song or two. He kept telling me he wanted to "win a bunch of money and spend it on me", then proceeded to lose ALL of the contents of his wallet on the machines. I excused myself and moved on. He left the club.
He returned to the club about an hour later, sat at my stage, and did NOT tip me. After my song was over, I went to ask him in a very nice way if "everything was ok", and he said he had something for me and took me out onto the patio. He proceeded to give me an eyeglasses case full of soap and lotion from the Shilo Inn, and a used foot file. What. The. Fuck.
He said something about wanting to give me something because I'm so pretty but he couldn't afford a dance and he would come back on his next payday. I thanked him for the "gift" and told him I was in the middle of having a drink with another customer, excused myself again, and didn't see him inside. Of course he didn't leave, the guy sat at my stage AGAIN and did not tip! So I had our bartender show him the door. I was mad at myself for wasting my time with him, but I also thought he deserved to be kicked out for thinking that I work for SOAP and not MONEY.
Friday night I worked the mid. There were two customers there. After tips, I came home with 18 bucks.
I'm scheduled to work back to back next week... but I don't know if I should just call in. I am taking a vacation out of town and think I should just give dancing a rest until I come back. But I don't know if my game is just off because I am new, or if I should look elsewhere. Help!
