    Default New to the Forum/Industry

Last night I got a job at a local club as a member of the bouncer/security team.

I thought I should stop in and say hello to everyone before I start asking questions about what to expect with this line of work.

I am 21, 6'6" and a muscular 270 pounds...I think this is why they hired me within 3 minutes of walking in and asking if they needed any help.

The money is great. I am not using this job as a way to meet dancers, I will treat them with the utmost respect and kindness.

I'm not sure if this was the right place to post this but I don't have too many posting privileges yet and I didn't want to post it in the wrong place!

    Thank you kindly!

The club is very small and owned by two brothers. They told me to come in whenever I wanted when I'm not working to just hang out.

This made me curious, I would think that bouncers should not be getting dances from the girls since they are co-workers. Is that normal in the clubs you ladies work in?

Can some of you girls relate to me what I can expect working in a club as a bouncer?

Or direct me to a better forum to post a thread in if this isn't a good one.

Anything you can tell me is very much appreciated.

    Expect:

    1. Guys to disrespect the dancers, and you'll have to tell them to back off.
    2. Girls that provide "extras" to try to be sneaky or try to pay you off to turn a blind eye to it
    3. Drugs - customers sneak them in, dancers sometimes bring them in
    4. People trying to follow dancers to their cars or wait for them
    5. Weirdos claiming to be the dancer's boyfriend... and she doesn't even know his name
    6. Catty dancers

Ask management how they want you to handle all of those things.

I thought I'd add that I'm seeing someone and have no intentions of cheating on her with anyone, much less a coworker.

Do any of you think that I will have to deal with advances from any of the girls?

I'm a nice, outgoing, attractive man so its not uncommon for me to get hit on. I'm hoping that I do not have to deal with this at the club but would you girls be surprised if I did?

^I think you should post pics before we take your word for it.
Also, a mod should probably give me a formal warning for being the most shameless flirt tonight.

I wouldn't be too surprised to be honest, but I don't think it'll be too much of an issue for you to say "I have a girlfriend, sorry ladies." - if they push it, just let them know you don't want anything but your lady.

^Not unless they want something out of you..no offense, but it's a job- just like you don't mix business and pleasure in an office job? Same deal. I'd never date anyone that worked/went in a club, nor make them think I would. Job=$. Real life=dating. Don't mix the two.

I'm sitting here with my girl and she's not too thrilled with the idea of me posting a pic haha.

Maybe she'll come around to it.

This does seem to make sense except for the fact that most post-college relationships start in the workplace.

Ah, most. Just like MOST strippers do lots of things- baby drama, crazy ex bfs, druggies, alcoholics, spend every dime and not save for a rainy day, don't have an exit plan out of this job..well, thats where us SW girls come in, we're the exceptions Oh, and most of us, have "real jobs" where again, mixing business and pleasure is just not a good idea. Does everyone date someone from their job at some point? Probably. That's why there's the "live and learn" saying..some people don't learn..I, for one, am perfectly happy being single, coming home to a puppy sleeping on my lap, rinsing, and repeating. If i meet someone that sweeps me off my feet-awesome. If not, oh well, I'm ok with that. But I sure as hell know that awesometastic person will NOT walk in my club lol.

I get what you're saying. I don't want you to think that I was saying that the club I'll be working in is any different than any other work place. In my experience when people spend a lot of time together at work there tends to be romance-Something I don't want to get involved with to any degree at this or any other job.

I'm glad I can learn from the SW girls, you all seem to have your heads screwed on tight.

Well, unfortunately at my club (now club(s) there aren't any bouncers during day shift, which of course is when I work, so stop by, cuz I'll keep em away haha! But in all seriousness, I really do think it depends on the club you're at, and making it known you don't put up with bullshit. It's common for managers/DJs/other workers in the club to hug/kiss/touch dancers saying "hi", or in passing..a little more than just friendly..that bothers the hell out of me-can I stop it? no. Do i participate? no. It's kind of what happens in lapdances-whatever we allow, happens. We don't allow skeezy guys to touch boobies? They don't. Do some girls let them? Of course, or they wouldn't expect it. Same kind of thing. Can I ask why you wouldn't be a bouncer at a normal club if you're worried about being hit on at a strip club?

You don't need to post a photo... I can tell you straight out that SOME of the girls will flirt with you.

    1. Work mode = flirting. If they are at work they are in the "mode".

    2. As sunshine16 said, they want something from you... i.e. to be in your favor. They want you to let things slide when they do something they aren't supposed to, and they want to know you'll have their back with bad customers or problems with other dancers.

Make no mistake... they will try! The guys on the blue side often refer to this shameless flirting and misleading ways as "stripper b.s.". Just be aware of it.

The money at this club blows the money of a normal club out of the water.

My girl is actually more comfy with me working at a Strip Club than a normal bar seeing as at a normal bar bouncers are often hit on at the end of the night. She thinks that so long as I make it clear to the girls that I'm not interested there won't be any other girls there to hit on me since the vast majority of the clientele is male. Not that she's ecstatic that I'm working at a strip club but she knows I need the money and she trusts me. The money is too good to pass up.

To be honest its not casual flirting that I'm so much concerned with. I'd be much more concerned with girls trying to hang out with me after work, etc

and what do you mean by blue side? Not caught up on the lingo yet haha.

LOL, won't be other girls to hit on you..if you're in the DC area and the clubs are pretty big (not sure if they are or not but) expect a lot of girls on each shift, especially nights. I work at pretty small clubs and at least 15 girls on a day shift-and that's talking NJ go go. But, if your girlfriend trusts you, and you trust yourself more than anything, it's a job. Do job=make money=come home and enjoy it with boyfriend/girlfriend/ and or pet

The club is pretty small. Although I haven't been to that many clubs haha.

Its a very nice atmosphere, its the club I go to if me and my buddies felt like going to the strip club.

Its not in DC, but close by.
