Crossfingers where can i get a stripper pole for decent price??

so ok i have a question lol...i need a pole to practice on at home and i have been doing some shopping around and my question is this; where can i buy a decent pole that is durable for a decent price?? most poles i have seen go for like $350. i dont want one with a stage or anything. just the kind that has a bas at top and bottom and you can screw it to ceiling if you chose to...they're usually portable...any suggestions would help and also if it helps, i'm in arizona.

That's pretty much the going rate for something safe and sturdy that you can practice intermediate and advanced pole moves on. You can check on eBay or Craigslist because sometimes people sell them for cheaper, but that always take some time and patience.

For your own safety though, DO NOT want to skimp on a pole. The crappier ones can be very dangerous. Make sure what you buys supports what you are looking to do with it. Good luck

If you want to save money check on Craigslist for a used Lil Mynx. A used one should run you about $150.

For something even safer check out X-pole and Platinum Stages

Stay away from the cheap poles like the ones sold at Spencers. They are meant as props - so it's not safe to invert on them.

I bought a 150 pole before (carmen electra pole) even though it has a negative review, if you install properly it should be good for spins and such, havnt tried any inverts on it though. But even with heavy hard core spins it didnt move.

I have an x pole now costed 400.. and seriously Im glad I spent 400 on it, it will last me forever. But if you are looking on the cheaper side do get the lil mynx it should be 200 max for a good one. They have removeable, and screw in ones. Check out their site, that pole has a postive rating. Usually ebay and amazon have them for cheaper than the orginal site. I personally never found xpole nor lil myxn off craigslist or such, but its worth a try.

Don't to inverts on that Carmen Electra - those aren't safe.

Try Crown Industries in NJ. They're a wholesaler for all sorts of brass, chrome and stainless steel fittings and supply a ton of the bars in the area with stripper poles, bar foot rails, hand rails, etc. They cut to order, but since they sell the tubing by the foot, you can get the longest length you need and cut it to fit with a metal saw (metal saws are really cheap and you can pick one up at a Home Depot or any hardware store). I don't know if they charge extra to cut to fit, but they probably do.

Here's their page for the tubing (the pole):
    http://gocrown.com/Brass/Tubing/Tubing.html

You'll want chrome or brass (whichever you like better, but most clubs seem to have brass poles and you'll probably want what you'd use in the club). You'll probably want the 2" diameter pole since that's what most clubs use. Though you might want to check the diameter of your club's poles to make sure since you'll probably want what you'd use at the club. Once you learn the pole it just takes a little getting used to to go to different diameter poles... the club I'm at now has really skinny poles compared to what I was always used to but it just took a couple of days to get used to them.

Figure out exactly where you're going to put your pole and measure from floor to ceiling to see how much length you'll need. I live in a really old house, and there's a really great number of height difference in inches all over the place since the house has settled and it's old. You'd never know it by looking around the place, but when I was deciding different places I could put the pole I couldn't believe the differences in measurement! Better to get more length than you need than not enough especially since there's only a few dollars difference in price per foot.

Then you'll need the flanges... these are the widgets that attach the pole to the ceiling and the floor. Here's the page to get the flanges:
    http://gocrown.com/Brass/Flanges/Flanges.html

I'd get the heavy duty one (FL403) for the ceiling and the regular one (FL402) for the floor. The heavy duty one is a lot wider and can trip you up when using the pole. One of the bars I worked at recently used the heavy duty flange for the floor, and all of us kept stepping on it accidently, and since it's not flush with the floor, makes you bobble or even twist an ankle or fall... drove us all completely batty.

The regular flange for the floor is like $16, the heavy duty one for the ceiling is like $35... big difference, so you'll have to decide for yourself if you want to use the heavy duty flanges for both the ceiling and the floor.

You'll probably need between 9 and 10 feet of the tubing which is between $80 and $90. If you have a lower ceiling than usual you might get away with 8 foot tubing in which case your shipping is free. Tubing over 8 feet has to be shipped by ground which depending on where it's going might be a little pricey. Because I live outside of Philly, shipping for me would be free even for a 10 foot pole. You'll have to plug in your zip code and see what your shipping would be. Even if it is pricey, the whole business would still be waaaaay cheaper than buying a stripper pole from the places that sell the same exact stuff as stripper poles.

One more thing you'll probably need is a stud finder. This is a widget that tells you where the beams (studs) are in your ceiling, and you MUST MUST MUST attach the pole into the beam! You can get a stud finder at most hardware stores and they're only about $10-$15 or so. A lot of guys seem to be able to tell where the beams are by knocking with their knuckles on the ceiling and listening to the sound it makes, but that's something I know I have no expertise in and wouldn't trust it with someone else doing it that way... better to be safe and spend the few bucks for the stud finder even if this is the only time you ever use it.

You can also check around on the internet for a similar wholesaler of metal fittings in your own area to save on shipping costs.

On a related note, about how much space would I need around the pole to have one inside my home? My living room is pretty small but with everything moved out of the middle I could probably have a 6x6 ft area, possibly a bit smaller. I'm fairly tall (5'9) so Idk if that makes a difference but do you think I've got enough room or do I need to wait til I move into a bigger place? Thanks

Personally I like a lot of space. Some pole studios cram poles in too tight, and in small rooms there is a fear of hitting something in the room. A good idea is while standing up to measure from about your shoulders to the floor, then add a few inches. The number you get should be the distance you may want on all sides of the pole. You can work with less, but if you don't want to be concerned about hitting anything that's a good way to calculate approximate space needed.

a good way to measure is to stand where you want to put your pole, try to pretend its there lol, and stretch out both arms and walk in a circle where you want it to be, you should not hit anything (wall, dresser, expensive computer area), that is sufficient space

umm be very very careful, your not really gonna find real X poles below about 250$, if its listed as only 80$ then i would think its a fake. especially if they are saying never been used, and the fake ones are dangerous cause the parts where the pole links together usually becomes smashed and fans out and will cut you.

A friend of mine has a pole dance studio in Seattle. She keeps at least 5 feet of space between each pole. So two poles would have 10 feet between them. That seems like a good minimum amount to shoot for.

The Gold Hustler Pole is THE SAME as the Carmen Electra pole!!!
A gold coloured X-pole is known as Titanium Gold... it's NOT brass.
