Yeah a friend of mine came to visit up here and he bouncers oohed and aahed over how me and her made 'so much money' and were 'such hustlers' at less that 200 a night. She thought it was the funniest thing ever.
The thing is, 200 a night is good here. o_O

Yeah we just kinda looked at each other with blank stares. She had been dancing for four years and used to bank.

This is the Pareto Principal: 80% of the money is made by 20% of the dancers. Unlike a "job" where everyone makes an equal slice of the pie (i.e. a wage) in the business world the top earners ALWAYS make more than the others combined.

^Is familiar with Pareto principal. We used it at an Aveda Salon where I worked.
While I was happy to leave with 200 dollars on a slow night, I still feel it's kinda strange that it's considered 'good money' in this region. My friend wasn't from here and was slightly baffled.
Yay moving to undesirable areas of the country!

Yes, it can seem silly. I tend to do well on weeknights better than weekends, no matter how many guys or girls are there. Weekends are a bit harder because the energy is a bit different and there are more looky-loos who are overstimulated by the sheer amount of dancers who are there. And then if there are too many big groups, it takes me longer to approach.
So far, my highest earning night this year, from January 2010 to now (outside of being 'gifted' money from regulars or a VIP) was $800 and that was on a Monday night (I'm also in L.A.).
I did about 43 dances, no VIP/Champagne room and left with a bit over $800 that night and people were like, damn...but for me, it was only slightly unusual due to the actual figure I walked out with without regulars. But it made perfect sense to me because it was a 'slow' week night. I'd be more shocked if I could pull that off on a Friday without a champagne room, as I did not do champagne rooms on that particular Monday night either.
That kind of thing just motivates me to always keep my hustle finely tuned so that I am always ready for another big $ night...be it a Sunday/Monday or a Thursday/Friday.

Depending on how bad of a night it is, and where I am at, more than anything I sometimes get mad about it. Even though the club staff can be like "WOW, great job", it aggravates me when I feel like the club isn't doing their share by advertising the club appropriately - especially when I'm traveling. Its partly about knowing how to access the money, but the money has to be in the club to begin with. While dancers can help advertise themselves, they can't always take out the larger advertising campaign that clubs can. If the clubs are taking house fees and not investing any of that into advertising, leaving advertising solely to the dancers, that can really make me mad.
Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

Exactly. Sums it up completely. I have mistakenly worked for several places like this. One was in Miami and had NO customers because they were new and had done NO advertising. I snagged the only custie that walked in all night and left with his only 20 bucks lol.

My boss pits the girls against each other by going round and telling us who's top earner of the month so far, and who's doing shit. Except he tells different things to different people.....I think he's trying to make us more competitive.
I always like to be the top earner. But I hate it when I'm the top earner and haven't made what I want to make as a top earner. Does that make sense? Sure, the other girls may have only made $200 but if I only make $500, I'm not satisfied. I like 4 digits.

If I don't make top earner of the night, I want top earner of the week, and if I don't make top earner of the week I want top earner of the month....and so on....

Even though there was a large portion of luck involved, I'm pretty proud of the fact that I was top earner my third day at a my new club.

I was used to being the top earner at my club, then took a year's basic hiatus, and going back it's been difficult to get into it again. This week, I am finally making what Im used to making. However, I don't know if I'm a top earner or not...girls and dance counters are so incredibly close-mouthed about their earnings.
It was incredibly slow last night-we had 3 bachelor parties and 1 bachorlette party, and that was pretty much it besides the club regulars. I did pretty well, but I know for a fact I wasn't the top since 3 other girls got a 4-hour VIP with one of the bachelor parties. AARRGGHHH-I wish I was one of them...
And the thing is, the girls were all talking about going up to Denver on a major shopping spree. Invest that money or save it or something , girls! Stupid 19-20 year olds...

Yup, invest. Cause pretty fades.

How do you guys find out who's the top earner. At none of the clubs I ever worked at did people disclose what anybody was making. I could estimate, but that's rough, plus I don't know what other girls charge for their rooms. So the managers tell you, or is there like a list or something?

Some clubs keep dance boards so you can see how many dances you (and everyone else) has done when you're checking out for the night or verifying a dance count with a customer.
Aside from that, if the club pays in tokens, dancer dollars, or chips, you can see who is cashing out several hundreds' worth if their customers used a credit/debit card.

so basically you're still somewhat guessing right?

^^Yeah, it's still guessing unless the girls tell the truth about what they made.
Example: I worked last Wednesday and we had a total of 15 guys come in from 8-200. I got a couple dances from 2 different guys and made a grand total of 295. Another girl got one-two dances from a few guys, she made 180 (so she says). However, on the dance counter sheet, I sold about the same amount of dances as she did(she and I are both in the top 20% of dancers). The difference is I charged more per dance than her (the club allows this).
So even dance counting doesn't always tell who is the top earner and who is not, but what it will do is give you a fair idea of the standings.
The only way to really know is to have all the dancers count their money and announce their earnings haha.
