Anyways, interesting post. I'll check it out because as I get older it's much harder to keep the weight off even though I workout on a regular basis.

I think both the research and the experiences of people show adequate protein is an essential component to success (be it losing fat, gaining muscle, etc) and health. Lacto ovo vegetarians don't tend to have issues getting adequate protein, but it can be a challenge for strict vegan types, especially if they work out, which increases protein needs.

I agree, do you see any differences in age or sex?

I have not seen anything regarding differences between sexes per se, but age for sure. We may need more as we age. From my article on sarcopenia:

"Although it’s generally believed the “average” American gets more protein then they require, the diets of older adults are often deficient. Compounding that are possible reductions in digestion and absorption of protein, with several studies concluding protein requirements for older adults are higher than for their younger counterparts (Young, 1990; Campbell et al., 1994; Campbell et al., 1996). These studies indicate that most older adults don’t get enough high quality protein to support and preserve their lean body mass."

...my sex drive is already through the roof.

    *backs away slowly*

Plus, I'm Italian, so while I fortunately don't have any facial hair now, I bet I'd grow a beard just looking at the stuff.

It may have many benefits beyond sex drive, but point taken.

Yes, Will, I ordered it---the same brand you recommended and everything. I have been taking it for about a month (25 mg).

Honestly, I haven't noticed anything huge. I do seem to have more energy. However, I haven't been working out so I have stayed the same weight. Also, I haven't had sex so I don't have much to offer there---but I will report back in a month because I am currently dieting/working out again (just this past week).

I will report back in a month. Thank you again for this advice.

A recent study that supports the OP you may find interesting:

DHEA May Help Sex, Symptoms After Menopause
Low-Dose DHEA Cuts Menopause Symptoms, Improves Sex Life in Small Study

Dec. 20, 2011 -- Low-dose DHEA works as well as hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to ease menopausal symptoms and to improve women's sex lives, a small pilot study suggests.

DHEA is a hormone widely available in the U.S. as a dietary supplement. DHEA is produced by the adrenal glands, the liver, and the testes. It's a parent hormone that gives rise to both male and female sex hormones. The supplement is a man-made version.

The new findings, from an Italian study of 48 women, are "proof of concept" that DHEA can help menopausal women, suggests study leader Andrea Genazzani, MD, PhD, director of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Pisa, Italy.

"Low doses of the hormone DHEA may be able to help women deal better with menopausal symptoms, as well as helping their sex life," Genazzani says in a news release. "The work shows that DHEA has potential, especially for those women who may have problems in taking more conventional HRT."
