The best thing for you to do is find out if there is a group that specializes in helping women start businesses in your area. You could also check to see if there are any schools in your area with a grant writing department. You might be able to get a soon to be college -grad to take this on for a resume building project. I know multiple grant writers, but not anyone I'd feel confident referring you too. Most of the ones I know are pretty conservative.
Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

^^^ which minority group do you belong to ?

uh, since white women get most of the SBA loan money (and most 'minority' set-asides of all types), being just a white woman is good enough if that is the case with the OP. it won't help extra to be a woman of another ethnicity and may hurt.

thanks ya.. I dont want to get a loan yet, I already have a few for school and Im going to try to get free money first.. I mean Its going to be a long process, and I have to do some research and learn... I dont plan on making a lot in the first few years and Id hate to struggle and pay loans

Have you looked at the Small Business Administration?

ya I looked around... no grants for business right now, just loans.. I know..![]()

If you want to start a business in Houston, go to:
http://www.houston.org/economic-deve...ves/index.aspx
At the bottom of the page are a list of venture capital firms. Look for non-profit venture capital firms.
Also, you can call the city's economic development department and ask about grant programs for small businesses. Many cities have grants available if you create new jobs in distressed areas or if you contribute to the City's arts & culture, etc. If you discover a grant that may apply to your business, the easiest way to write a kick-ass grant is to request from the appropriate City Department (under the Texas Public Information Act) a copy of last year's winner's grant application and use that as your model.
If you need an office, you might check for "incubator" space:

Maybe the best way to get some money or assistance is by offering partnership opportunities in the business. They should have a place here in SW where dancers can post business ideas and seek business partners. Be careful about publicly offering "securities" (stocks, bonds, etc.), though, because they may have to be registered through the SEC first.
