Mind Blowing Help! My guy snores BAD!

I am pulling my hair out over here!

Before we met he had a pretty serious reconstructive surgery to stop his snoring, but apparently it didn't work. He's snored since we've been dating, but I have always slept with ear plugs so it wasn't a big deal. Recently it's gotten more frequent and louder--to the point we can't sleep in the same room anymore. I can't take it anymore! We both haven't had a decent night's sleep in weeks, and it's kind of sad for us to have to sleep separately. Last week he bought this mouth piece that's supposed to jut his jaw out and pull his soft pallet away from the back of his throat where it vibrates, but it's not working.

Do any of you ladies have this problem or know of anyone who does? What do you/they do to help prevent their snoring? We will try ANYTHING. We're desperate for help over here as he doesn't want to have another expensive and painful surgery. Anything that you know of will help.Thank you.

Does he smoke/drink/has he been slacking on workouts?
My mom snores more loudly if she's been hanging around friends who like to go out for drinks often or when she's gained a few extra pounds/is just generally in poorer shape than normal for her.

Not to threadjack, but my boyfriend is a competitive cyclist (skinny and in shape). He snores so bad! I am familiar with how this can drive you crazy!! How can we stop them???

My bf and I have been apart for a couple months but we will be together soon. I love him, but I will be saying good bye to restful nights:-(

OK, back on topic- how can we get them to stop???

btw, for my bf rolling him on his side works, but I can't permanently keep him on his side... Help!

Sounds like sleep apnea! My husband has it. He had the surgery too, didn't work...
A common and effective treatment for this is the CPAP machine; it is a facemask that you put on at night that delivers positive airway pressure. It drastically reduces or eliminates snoring AND prevents the very serious health complications that can occur from years of living with un-treated sleep apnea.

This is a chronic, semi-serious medical condition, so you should have him see a sleep specialist doctor right away. People with sleep apnea do not get enough oxygen at night, and sleep is often very disturbed. The longer one goes untreated, the higher the risk of associated health problems.

After the first few days of using his CPAP machine, my husband was finally getting enough oxygen at night and felt like a fog was lifting that had been there for years.

Ok that's my nurse's spiel for the day. Get him to see doc. Good luck!

It's unlikely to be this, but I have a severe gluten intolerance, and every time I eat gluten or dairy I snore like a stuck hog. It's so bad that if I (stupidly) cheat and eat something with gluten in it, my poor hubby will go straight to the sofa to sleep and not even attempt to sleep in the same room with me. If I don't eat gluten, I never snore. Strange.

    This is VERY GOOD ADVICE.

(Mine would be to sit on his face, at least for you to get something out of it.)
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

My boyfriend doesn't drink often, HOWEVER when he does have a glass of wine his snoring worsens, but it's bad regardless. As for fitness, he's very much in shape. Although he swears he's not in as good a shape from when he was before he met me, he's still in very good shape. He's a firefighter so his fitness is very important. He also doesn't smoke, but I'm wondering if it's stuff from work such as exhaust fumes, fire smoke or whatever....

If he snores very badly he may be suffering from sleep apnea. That is where the soft pallet collapses and actually, temporarily, closes the windpipe. It can actually greatly increase the likelihood of heart disease and other issues of sleep depravation.

    Is he

    1) Tired even when he gets seven to eight hours sleep?

    2) Do you ever notice him stop breathing in his sleep for a short period then start again [could be accompanied by a "snorting" like sound]?

    3) Awake with headache?

If so he may have sleep apnea. The good news is it can be treated.

Here is a link to the WebMD site on the issue that may be of help: http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders...apnea-symptoms

BTW, while we are on the subject, is it needed to point out the obvious: That it is just possible that if you are willing to judge the worth of someone simply by what you read on a website about them it might say a whole hell of a lot more about you than it says about the person you are judging?

He was diagnosed with sleep apnea years ago but has since had 3 (yes three!) reconstructive surgeries to fix it. No Dice! It's so frustrating, and nothing helps.

I think this is different from the reconstructive surgeries previously mentioned. They run advertisements for this place on the radio all the time, and it seems to help people.

Both of my parents use the CPAP machine heidi was talking about and its been effective for them.
